Epilogue
Song of the Chapter - (Beautiful, NCT 2021)
Jimin POV
I looked at my watch and sighed softly, "Chaeyoung, hurry up! We will be late!" I yelled from downstairs.
You might wonder where we are going – the answer is we are visiting my brother's grave. Two years had passed since that day, and it also had been two years without him, which was unfortunate.
Jisoo appeared out of the living room with a soft smile, "let her take all the time she needs – you are going to visit your brother's grave after all," she said.
I nodded, "you are right," I replied before looking at the portrait on the wall – it was a picture of Y/n's friends, and I must say, the picture really made the hallway of their shared house livelier.
Shared house? You must wonder what I'm talking about. Well, apparently, Y/n and his best friends promised to move in together sometime during high school.
I looked at the portrait that was hung right beside the one with Y/n's friends – this one was that of Y/n from when he won the national football tournament three years ago – I found myself smiling as I remembered the silly smile on my brother's face whenever he was with his friends.
"Alright, I'm ready to go," Chaeyoung's voice snapped me out of my thought – I smiled when I saw her hoodie. It was the one I bought for Y/n's 15th birthday.
Once at the graveyard, we walked around for a while – seeing people visiting their loved ones' graves before we finally arrived.
I sighed softly and squatted in front of the headstone, wiping the headstone with a piece of tissue – it didn't do much against the moss, though. "It has been a year since we last visited you. I'm sorry – we were too busy," I said as I continued to wipe the headstone.
His grave was covered in dead leaves, and I felt a tap on my shoulder. As I turned to look at Chaeyoung, who was the one who tapped, she smiled at me. "Come on, let's clean it as much as we can," she said.
After fifteen minutes, the grave was cleared of dead leaves, and Chaeyoung placed a bouquet of white roses on it, "sorry for not visiting more often," she said before sighing softly. She paused for a few minutes, wiping her tears before continuing, "since it's my birthday today... I decided to forgive you," she chuckled before shaking her head.
"What am I doing?" she mumbled, wiping the rest of her tears.
I smiled softly at sight before feeling my phone vibrating in my pocket. I took it out and saw that I had gotten a message from Kyungsoo.
"Now."
I put my phone back inside my pocket before walking toward Chaeyoung, tapping her shoulder gently, "Chaeyoung, let's go home – you will be late for the party," I said.
Chaeyoung looked at me and nodded, "let's go," she sniffled.
Rosé POV
When we arrived at the familiar neighborhood, I saw three cars parked on the driveway – one I recognized as Xiumin's.
As soon as Jimin parked the car, I got off it and walked toward the house – I was expecting the music to be booming from inside, but to my surprise, it was quiet. Surely, they weren't trying to surprise me, right? After all, I was the one who planned my birthday party.
Even though I said all those things, they didn't fail to surprise me when I opened the front door.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY PARK CHAEYOUNG!" they said in unison.
Chanyeol appeared in the hallway with an acoustic guitar and started strumming it. Baekhyun and Taeyeon came out of the kitchen with the cake I had chosen while singing happy birthday.
You might wonder – didn't Baekhyun and Taeyeon break up earlier in the story? Well, that is a story for another time.
I started crying when I remembered the relationship between Y/n and me – I missed him so much and wished he would've been here to celebrate my birthday together.
Jin cleared his throat and walked towards me, "I will be the first to give my present since it is the most special one," he said confidently as he handed me a mirror.
I took it from his hands and chuckled, "I... I don't need another mirror, Jin, but thank you..." I said with a soft smile.
Jin shook his head, "why don't you check your face," he said before crossing his arms.
At first, I was confused by his request, but I still did what he asked me to do. When I checked my reflection, I thought I saw things, and I quickly put the mirror down when I saw Y/n standing behind me.
I lifted the mirror and rechecked my reflection to make sure I didn't see things, and when I saw him still standing behind me with a smile, I finally confirmed that I was not hallucinating.
Not long after that, he walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
Your POV
I rested my chin on her shoulder as I hugged her from behind – I missed hugging her so much. "I miss you..." I hummed, but she didn't respond.
After a few minutes, though, she finally turned around and looked at me while crying, "why are you taking too long?!" she cried.
I chuckled softly and hugged her tightly, "I'm sorry," I said softly as I stroked her hair.
You guys don't think I was dead, right? I'm the protagonist, so do you think the author would off me that easily? I did pull a risky move off-camera, but I survived that.
Well, back to the story...
Chaeyoung was still crying as she tugged on my shirt. "Don't do anything stupid again," she scolded, looking at me with shaky eyes.
I chuckled and nodded, "I won't. I promise I will never leave you again," I said softly before kissing her forehead.
I hope that there will be nothing wrong between us after this – not after what we went through for the past two years.
