Song of the Chapter - (Reset, Tiger J.K ft Jinshil)
Y/n POV
I let her continue drying my hair while I stared at the floor in silence. But it wasn't long before Chaeyoung started to talk about something I wasn't keen on answering.
"Y/n, be honest with me," she started before putting the towel away on the table. "Do you like me?"
I didn't know how to answer her. Instead, I got up from the chair and walked towards a bookshelf, trying to avoid the question by browsing the books.
"Tell me, Y/n."
Well, it seems like I can't avoid the question. I turned around to face her with arms crossed, "what makes you think I like you?"
Chaeyoung shrugged and sat on the chair, "I'm just curious. After all, you did say you missed me."
"Honestly, I don't know – if getting jealous of Chanyeol for being ableto talk to you almost all the time means I like you, then yes. I like you," Inodded and leaned against the bookshelf.
"Oh..."
I was scared when all I got as an answer was an 'oh' from Chaeyoung, but I played it cool and walked towards her, "I hope you finding out my feelings for you won't ruin our friendship – if we are even friends," I said and she looked at me, flashing a smile.
"Of course, Y/n. You are still my friends. Let's just pretend we never talked about this," she sighed.
"Already forgotten," I said, chuckling softly.
"Man, you are so lame," I heard my mom say from the door. I rolled my eyes and looked at her, making a face that says, 'not a good time to eavesdrop'.
My mom ignored me and entered the room anyways. "I made you guys some orange juice in case you get thirsty. There are biscuits too if you're hungry," she said before leaving the room, not before mouthing 'go get her, tiger!'
After my mom had left the room, Chaeyoung and I stared at each other awkwardly. Who wouldn't feel awkward when your mother saw you get rejected, right?
"I guess we can start now," I said after five minutes, and Chaeyoung agreed.
*5 hours later*
Five hours later, we were finally able to gather the information needed to work on our project – it wouldn't have taken that long if it wasn't because I got distracted by Jin and Baekhyun who face-timed me in the middle of my work. I looked at my watch and noticed that it was already twelve at midnight.
I turned to look at Chaeyoung, who was struggling to keep her eyes open. "Hey, why don't you get some rest? You looked tired," I said.
She looked at me, half awake before shaking her head. "No, I'm fine."
I sighed and got up from the floor, "you don't have to lie," I said to her before gently pulling her up. "It's obvious that you are not used to staying up late," I added. I pulled her along out of the room and to the second floor, where my room was at.
"Where are you taking me?" she asked as we walked along the hall. I didn't reply to her, and when we arrived at the door to my room, I looked at her, smiling softly. I opened the door and pulled her inside, "is this your room?"
I closed the door and led her to the bed, putting her down there before handing my phone to her. "Give me your mother's phone. I will let her know that you will be sleeping over... but would she be fine with it?" I said, afraid that it would sound weird since Chaeyoung is a girl, and I'm a boy.
"I'm sure she will," Chaeyoung answered as she took my phone gently. Not long after that, she returned my phone, and I called the number she had dialled. After a few minutes, the call connected.
"Mrs Park speaking. May I know who this might be?"
"Oh, hello Mrs Park. I'm Y/n, and I was wondering if it is fine for Chaeyoung to crash at my place for the night?"
There was a long pause before Chaeyoung's mom talked again.
"Okay. But do not do anything bad to my baby while she's there, do you hear me?"
"Yes, ma'am. I promise I won't do anything out of my line."
"Alright."
"Thank you, ma'am."
After the call ended, I went to sit beside Chaeyoung, "so, what did my mom say?"
I looked at her and shook my head, "you know, the usual. She told me not to do anything... out of the line with you," I said before getting up. I walked towards the door, "good night, Chaeyoung. Sleep well," I said, about to turn the lights off when she stopped me.
"Y/n, can you stay?" I looked at her, "the room is big, and it's scary with the lights off," she said. I stood beside the door for a few moments before turning the lights off and walking towards the sofa across the bed.
"Not there," she shook her head and patted the empty spot beside her, "here."
Are you sure?"
Chaeyoung nodded, "mhm!"
I walked towards the bed and lay on the empty spot beside her, humming softly as I settled myself on it. Chaeyoung looked at me for a moment before lying down, turning to her side so we ended up looking at each other's faces.
We stared at each other in silence with the only light source coming from the moonlight. "It's getting awkward," I said after a minute. My words made her laugh, and I found myself smiling at the way she was laughing.
"Say, Y/n... why didn't you confess to me?"
I sighed softly, "because I am afraid of getting rejected," I answered before brushing Chaeyoung's hair off her face, "and besides, what kind of person would like someone like me? I'm a jerk, you know?"
Chaeyoung shook her head, smiling. "I mean, you did piss me off on my first day," she exclaimed before looking around my room, "but then I realized that you weren't so bad after all. So, there might've been a chance that I would say yes."
Rose POV
Y/n was quiet after that, and I was afraid that I might've said something that hurt him. "Y/n?"
There was a long silence before he answered, "go to sleep, Chaeyoung," he said before getting off the bed. I got up from the bed and watched him left the room – I thought it was pointless in stopping him since it might make the situation worse.
"Good night..." I said once he was gone before lying down on the bed.
I woke up the next morning and realized that I was wearing a different pair of clothes. I thought about it – did Y/n change my clothes while I was sleeping? I found myself blushing at the thought, but then he entered the room.
"You are awake," he said as he walked towards the coffee table, putting a tray with a teapot, and two cups on it.
"Pervert," I exclaimed.
Y/n hummed as he looked at me – he was confused at first, but then a smile formed on his face. "Oh, that..." he chuckled before walking towards me. "Don't worry. I didn't lay a hand on you while you were sleeping – it was my mom," he explained before gently taking me by my wrist.
"And why would she do that?" I asked, eyeing him.
Y/n stopped and turned to face me, "well, I figure that your clothes last night were too thin, so I asked my mom to change you into something more comfortable. Thus, the pyjamas," he explained.
"Who would've thought you could be this considerate," I scoffed before Y/n sat me down on the sofa.
Y/n sat beside me and poured some tea into the cups, giving me one of them before he unwrapped a pack of biscuits.
Y/n POV
"Go ahead and hit the shower after finishing your tea," I said, getting up from the sofa.
"But I didn't bring any change of clothes—"
I looked at her and smiled, "I washed your clothes last night, so don't worry," I said before leaving the room.
I went downstairs and walked past the kitchen to the laundry room. I grabbed Chaeyoung's clothes out of the dryer and immediately left the room.
"Where are you taking those clothes?" asked my mom when she saw me walk out of the laundry room.
"To my room, obviously," I replied as I walked upstairs. Once in my room, I could hear the shower running and the bed was already tidied up. I sighed softly before putting Chaeyoung's clothes on the bed.
*Later that day*
We went to school together that morning, and students were whispering to each other about how we were walking together. They must think that Chaeyoung and I are on bad terms because of the incident at the cafeteria on her first day in school.
"I'll see you later," I said to her before stopping at the stairs leading to our class. Chaeyoung looked at me and smiled, nodding.
"Bye," she replied before walking up the stairs. I watched her for a while, and she did the same – Chaeyoung turned her head from time to time as she walked up the seemingly endless flight of stairs.
Once she was out of sight, I went to the school field for my football training. "Look who is finally here," said one of my teammates as he saw me jogging towards them.
I chuckled and gently punched his shoulder once I was with them. "Shut up, Minho."
"Guys, gather around!" our coach shouted from the goalpost. We jogged towards him and formed a circle while he was standing at the centre, "alright lads, remember that this Sunday, you guys are going to face Yong-ha High. I want to remind you guys that the match is a qualification match for the upcoming tournament, so we will be training our asses off for the rest of the week."
^^^^
After our morning training, it was finally recess, and I went to the cafeteria with Jin and Baekhyun. "So, how was your practice this morning?" asked Jin before eating his fried chicken.
I shrugged, eating my mashed potato. "It was good," I answered. Jin nodded and continued to eat.
"Well hopefully, you guys won't lose again like last year," said Baekhyun before chuckling.
I rolled my eyes and pointed at Baekhyun with my spoon, "hey, the only reason we didn't make it past the qualification match last year was that I was sent off early, you know?"
Jin and Baekhyun looked at each other before laughing, "sure," Jin shrugged.
"Oh, by the way, here comes the show-off boy," Baekhyun said, clearing his throat before pointing at Chanyeol.
"And Chaeyoung is with him," added Jin.
I quickly turned around, seeing Chanyeol and Chaeyoung walking together towards an empty table. I sighed softly before eating a spoonful of my mashed potato, "부럽다..." I mumbled.
"I'm sorry, what's that? Did I just hear you admit that you are jealous?" Baekhyun asked with a huge smile.
My eyes widen. "H-hey, you idiot! Keep it down!" I said, shoving his bread into his mouth.
Rose POV
I was sitting beside Chanyeol while looking at Y/n and his friends a few tables away from us. This was the first time since this morning that I have seen him. "Hey, Chanyeol, why did Y/n skip class today?"
Chanyeol looked at me and shook his head, "oh, he didn't. He was at the football field, practising."
I nodded, "By the way, how long have Y/n been the team captain?" I asked, making Chanyeol sigh.
"I don't know," he answered, obviously annoyed by how much I was asking about Y/n.
I smiled at his reaction before giggling, "don't tell me you are jealous of him?"
He looked at me as if I have insulted his ancestors before scoffing, "excuse me? Me? Jealous of Y/n? Come on, I am leagues above him in every aspect," he exclaimed. I shrugged at his reaction before continuing to look at Y/n and his friends.
Jisoo and the other girls were there too with us, but they were focused on the food that they didn't even mind how noisy Chanyeol and I were being.
It wasn't long after that when a guy entered the room – he seemed to be in his 50s. "Kang Y/n?" he called out, looking around the cafeteria.
Y/n got up from his seat and looked at him, "that would be me. How can I help you, sir—"
The whole cafeteria went quiet when the guy slapped Y/n. The impact echoed through the cafeteria as Y/n lost his balance. "You son of a bitch!" the guy cussed before slapping him again.
Y/n spat some blood on the floor before wiping his lips, "sir, I don't know what those slaps were for, but—"
"Don't act like you didn't know why I slapped you!" the guy shouted, cutting Y/n's words. "I know that you were the one who ruined my son's car!"
I tried to get up and go to Y/n's side, but Chanyeol stopped me. I looked at him, "don't sweat it," he shook his head.
"Sir, once again, I have no idea what you are talking about," said Y/n.
The older guy scoffed before grabbing Y/n by his collar, "let's see if you still dare to lie after seeing this," he said as he dragged Y/n out of the cafeteria.
Y/n POV
"That's you, right? My son told me that was you in the jacket," he said, pointing at someone wearing my jacket in the CCTV footage.
It took me a moment to answer, "yes, that was my jacket. But..."
"See?! How dare you pretended to be innocent. Kids like you should be sent to a juvenile hall!" the guy said, slamming the table.
^^^^
After a few more shouting from that guy, I was finally dragged to Mr Park's office, "tell me the truth, Y/n. Why did you do that?" he asked.
I shook my head and cleared my throat, "sir, I was telling the truth. I never went near Hanbin's car, let alone lay a hand on it."
Mr Park was quiet for a second. "Listen, Y/n... I know how important you are to the school's football team, and how much you have contributed to it, but that doesn't give you the right to ruin other students' property."
"But sir, it wasn't me! I was framed by someone!"
Mr Park sighed before shaking his head, "please, stop lying and go apologize to Hanbin," he said, but I shook my head. "You don't want to do that? Then maybe we should inform your father of your behaviour," he said, and I looked at him with wide eyes.
"Sir, please don't call my father. Anything but that, please," I dropped to my knees as I started shaking at the thought of my father finding out about this thing.
Rose POV
"Do you guys think Y/n will be okay?" I asked, looking at the girls. I got worried when I saw him getting slapped in the cafeteria, and then I heard he was summoned by the principal.
I felt someone wrapping their hands around mine and I looked at her, "he will be fine, Chaeyoung..." it was Lisa.
Not long after that, the door slammed open, and Y/n entered the classroom. I could see the anger in his eyes as he called out to someone, "KIM FUCKING HANBIN!"
"Chaeyoung, go and stop him," Jin whispered from behind me. I looked at him in confusion.
"What do you mean—"
Jin clicked his tongue, "just go and stop him before he does anything stupid!" he said.
Y/n POV
I clenched my fists as I marched towards his seat, "what the fuck is your problem?!" I growled before hitting him in the face. I grabbed him from the floor by his collar. "WHY IN THE ACTUAL FUCK DID YOU PUT THE BLAME ON ME!" I shouted before strengthening my grip on his collar.
"Put the blame on you? Because it was you who did it," Hanbin retorted.
"I NEVER DID SHIT!" I shouted again before pushing him to the floor. "Now, you better go and tell your father that it wasn't me. That I was framed—"
"Why would I do that when I can just enjoy seeing your life getting more fucked up?" said Hanbin before smirking.
"You son of a bitch!"
"Y/n, stop!"
