Song of the Chapter - (FEVER, Enhypen)
Y/n POV
After the awkward interaction outside the infirmary, Chaeyoung and I entered the room – it was the first time a lady my age took care of me the way she did. I looked around the room before landing my eyes on her, "aren't you going to sit?" I asked, feeling uncomfortable with Chaeyoung standing beside the door.
Chaeyoung looked at me and cleared her throat, "oh, right..." she hummed and awkwardly made her way to me, sitting down beside me on the bed. I scooted over to give her more space to sit, obviously since I'm a gentleman.
We sat quietly for five minutes before Chaeyoung looked at me and asked me something, "I'm curious..."
Right before she could finish her words, I can already tell that she wanted to know about the bruises he saw yesterday. "Listen, if it's about the bruises that you saw yesterday, I'm not answering."
Chaeyoung huffed and looked away, "sheesh..." she whined before getting up from the bed. She walked in front of me, crossing her arms, "that's not what I wanted to know."
I raised an eyebrow, tilting my head. "Oh yeah? So, what do you want to know?"
She shrugged and sat on the bed again, "I'm confused. Yesterday, you were acting like such an a-hole, but why are you more approachable today?"
I thought about it for a while, and then I shrugged. "I don't know how to explain it myself, Chaeyoung. But what I can say is that there will be times when I am the 'bad' guy, and there will be times I can be the 'good' guy too. In the end, you will eventually grow to hate me, just like everyone else," I said, thinking about how my family problems negatively affect my social life.
Rose POV
After his explanation, I don't know how to respond. I sighed softly and looked at him, and then again at his abs. I quickly looked away this time since it was making Y/n feel uncomfortable. I cleared my throat and tied my hair to a messy bun. "So, why are you here?" I asked, not looking at him.
"Oh, I scratched my elbow during the match," he answered. "But seems like the nurse isn't in yet."
I looked him right in the eyes, "really? Let me have a look," I offered. Y/n stared at me without uttering a word before giving his hand to me. "Is it really... OH MY GOD!"
I was expecting a small scratch on his elbow, but what I saw was an arm full of bandages, some were covered with blood. "What the hell happened to you?" I asked, shocked at the sight before my eyes.
Y/n quickly pulled his arm away before covering it with his shirt, "why are you overreacting? It's not like I would die from these small wounds," he said. I don't know what's with him, but even a 10-year-old kid can apply bandages better than Y/n.
"You won't die from those wounds? Yeah, right. And I can fly, Y/n."
Y/n tilted his head, "can you really?"
I looked at him in disbelief – surely Y/n would at least know what sarcasm is, right? "No, Y/n. I can't... you know what? Just stay there," I said before walking towards the shelves, and taking a med kit out from it.
"How long has it been since you changed the dressing on your wounds?" I asked while putting the med kit beside him.
Y/n hummed, thinking about it for a while, "I don't know... two, or three weeks?"
I glared at him before taking the worn-out bandages from his wounds. "I mean, it doesn't hurt, so..." If there's one thing that Y/n is good at, as far as I know, is acting like he is the toughest guy. Without warning, I dabbed his wounds with an ethanol-soaked cloth, causing him to flinch.
Ten minutes passed, and Y/n ended up lying on the bed while staring at the ceiling. "I hope you know what you're doing," he said to me, but I ignored him as I continued to treat his wounds. Another five minutes passed, and I was pouring more ethanol on a new cloth, "are you there?" asked Y/n. I looked at him and noticed he was covering his face with the pillow.
"Chaeyoung?"
I was snapped back to reality after he called my name, "h-huh? Oh, yeah. I'm here," I answered. Y/n chuckled and took the pillow off his face before looking at me.
"What is this? Did I make you nervous?" he asked.
I scowled before walking toward him again, "what's up with that self-narcissism?" I sat beside him and started cleaning his wounds again, "by the way, I'm almost done... so..." My eyes widen, and I paused on my words when Y/n suddenly put his face closer to mine. I gulped and looked at him – now I'm really feeling nervous.
"See? I was right," Y/n hummed before lying on the bed again.
"Explain yourself, Kang Y/n!" I jumped from the stool I was sitting on and looked at the door, seeing Chanyeol looking at Y/n with fiery eyes.
"Well, here we go," Y/n sighed and got up from the bed, covering his bandaged arm with the bedsheet. "Whatever you think we are doing, you are wrong, Chanyeol."
The latter scoffed, "oh yeah? Then why are you shirtless?" asked Chanyeol, gesturing at Y/n's bare body.
Y/n sighed and showed a black bruise on his stomach in the shape of a football shoe. "I mean, you gave me a serious tattoo just now, so I was just seeing if I could have it gone," he said.
Chanyeol looked at the bruise and smirked, "you want more?" he asked, walking closer towards Y/n. The latter shook his head and quickly put his shirt on, leaving the room.
"No, thanks. I think I have enough for the day," said Y/n, tapping Chanyeol's shoulder before leaving.
Once Y/n was out of the room, Chanyeol walked towards me and started to examine me, "are you okay? He didn't hurt you, did he?" he asked, looking at me worriedly.
I smiled softly and shook my head, "no, I'm alright, Chanyeol."
He heaved a heavy sigh before lowering his head, "that's a relief," he said before sitting down on the bed. I stared at him quietly before clearing my throat.
"Hey, Chanyeol... you did you really kick Y/n's stomach?"
Chanyeol looked at me before sighing, "I did... but it was an accident. I was aiming for the ball, but Y/n happened to be there," he explained. I nodded at his explanation – I'm sure Y/n would understand too, right?

Later that day, we were in the cafeteria during recess, but Y/n was nowhere to be seen. I looked around the cafeteria, and just then, Jin walked past our table. "Excuse me, Jin, is it?" I stopped him and he looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"Can I help you, Chaeyoung?"
I smiled and looked around before asking, "Do you know where Y/n is? I didn't see him anywhere in the cafeteria."
Jin crossed his arms, thinking about it for a while. "Ah, right... he might be at the basketball court. That's my best guess," he answered, and I nodded. I got up from my seat and thanked Jin before going to the basketball court.
As I got closer to the court, I noticed the door was left ajar. I walked towards it and peeked my head inside, looking around to see Chanyeol and Y/n talking in the middle of the court. I snuck inside and hid between the bleachers as I listened to their conversation.
"Listen, Y/n... I don't want to be an ass, but I want you to stay away from Chaeyoung. If I see you around her again, I will tell your father about what you are doing in school," said Chanyeol.
Y/n sighed, "please, don't get my father involved in my school life, Chanyeol. I beg you," he pleaded.
"I won't tell him if you keep your distance from Chaeyoung. You remember what happened the last time you were close to a girl, right?"
"Don't bring Tzuyu in this matter, Chanyeol. You should know better that she cheated on me," Y/n replied. They seem close since Chanyeol knew a lot about Y/n – I wonder what happened to their friendship. "And besides, I don't like Chaeyoung," Y/n added. It kind of hurt when I heard him.
"That's the thing, Y/n. You don't like her, but I do. And I'm worried that you will hurt her," Chanyeol said. It made my heart beat faster when I heard him say it. I guess this explained why Chanyeol was so caring towards me.
Y/n took a while before he could talk, "let's settle this matter like we always did then. The person who scores the most point win."
"Alright, if I win, you must stay away from Chaeyoung."
"And if I win, you can't tell my father, and you will let me be around Chaeyoung."
It felt like I was crossing the line I shouldn't have, so I decided to leave the court and returned to the cafeteria.

After recess was over, Chanyeol and Y/n entered the classroom, soaked in sweat. Lisa nudged me on the shoulder, and I looked at her, "did they..."
I aggressively shook my head, "no!" I said, a little too high. A smile formed on Lisa's face after my response, and she giggled.
"Wow, you are defending them now?" asked Lisa before leaning in to whisper, "so, which one was it? Is it Y/n, or is it Chanyeol?" I didn't get to answer her as Y/n walked past us with a sorrowful face while looking at me.
"Y/n..." I tried to stop him, but it was pointless. Y/n continued to walk away as I watched him, feeling bad for some reason.
Author POV
Y/n watched them both from his seat while biting his lower lip – he couldn't help but feel jealous at the sight, but he can't do anything about it. What he said on the basketball court about not liking Chaeyoung was not true.
In fact, Y/n fell for Chaeyoung after what happened in the infirmary earlier that day. Jin sighed and covered his eyes, "don't look at them," he said softly while looking at Chaeyoung and Chanyeol himself. He knew that Y/n had fallen for her and that he couldn't do anything about it.
