Song of the Chapter - (Starlight, Suho ft. Remi)

Your POV

"Watch out!"

As I turned around to look at Chanyeol, his expression was a mixture of panic and urgency. I tried to figure out what was happening, but my curiosity was answered as I heard the roaring engine of a black sedan speeding toward me.

My mind raced as I started to process the danger I was in – I tried to move away from the car's direction, but my body won't cooperate. Time seemed to slow down as the car came closer and closer to me.

"Hey, Park Y/n!"

It was as if Chanyeol's words snapped me out of my trance when he yelled my name. I tried to move away from the car's path again but was too late. I could feel his hand grabbing my sleeve when the wind rushed past me as the car slammed into my body, sending me flying.

As I hit the ground, the sounds of students screaming and talking became muffled – all I could hear were my heavy breathing and the constant ringing in my ears as I turned to my left, seeing Chanyeol's contorted face in agony, "Chan... Park... Park Chanyeol..." I tried to call him with hitched breath. My vision started to get blurry as students crowded over him.

^^^^^

"Y/n, can you hear me?" I could hear someone's voice, but I couldn't distinguish who it was as my vision was still blurry.

"Hang on, Y/n! Don't leave me!"

I tried to keep my eyes open, but they felt heavy, and as I closed my eyes and reopened them, I could hear the sounds of footsteps running, "hang on Y/n, we are almost there!" the voice and the footsteps echoed in my head – they were too loud. I tried to make out what had happened before remembering that I was hit by a car, and then I remembered Chanyeol – where was he? What happened to him? Is he okay?

I attempted to move my hands, but as you would've expected, it was futile; my vision got blurry and darker. Once again, I blacked out.

Chaeyoung POV

Five days had passed, and Y/n still hadn't woken up yet. Thankfully, Chanyeol was able to regain consciousness yesterday since his injuries weren't as severe when compared to Y/n.

The sight of Y/n being on the hospital bed with an oxygen mask broke my heart. Despite the pain I felt from looking at Y/n's unconscious body; I braved myself to keep him company throughout the five days – the only sounds in the room were the constant beeping of the heart monitor and my sobbing.

"Chaeyoung," Jimin called me, but I ignored him. "Chaeyoung," he continued to call me, but I still ignored him as I took Y/n's hand, cupping my cheek with it.

I sniffled as I felt his touch on my cheek, albeit I was the one that moved his hand, "wake up, Y/n/n... Please," I sobbed, closing my eyes. "You promised not to leave me again," I said with a shaky voice.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, "be strong for him, Chaeyoung," it was Jimin. He patted my shoulder and sighed softly, "he would be hurting a lot if he saw you like this," he added. I nodded and took a deep breath before sighing – he was right; I must be strong for Y/n's sake.

I gently placed his hand down on the bed and sighed heavily, staring at Y/n as he breathed steadily, his chest moving up and down gently.

*Time Skip*

Y/n POV

"Y/n/n, wake up, please," I could hear Chaeyoung's voice, but when I tried to open my eyes, I could not. "It's your sixth days already," she sobbed.

Oh, Chaeyoung – if only it were that easy. I tried my best to shoot my eyes open, but I was helpless.

It was quiet momentarily before she talked again, "remember when I said I hated you?"

Of course, I remember that day as if only yesterday when Chaeyoung said it to me.

"I... that was a lie... the truth is, I like – no, I love you."

Author POV

Y/n's hand moved slightly after a minute, and Chaeyoung looked at his hand in surprise, "Y/n?" she wiped her tears and looked at his face, feeling a glimmer of hope that he was close to regaining his consciousness.

After a while, Y/n's eyes flutter open, "do you... do you mean what you said?" he asked, his voice hoarse and low.

Chaeyoung wiped her tears again and got up from the stool, "w-wait, I will... I will call the doctor," she stammered as she left the room – Jimin, Jin and Baekhyun, who were sitting outside, looked at her in surprise.

"What is it, Chaeyoung?" asked Jin, noticing the forming smile on her face.

"Get the doctor!" Chaeyoung sniffled as she looked at them, her smile growing wider.

^^^^^

The doctor heaved a sigh of relief before facing Jimin and Chaeyoung, "he is awake now, but he still needs a lot of rest," he explained.

Chaeyoung sighed heavily and hung her head low, "thank God..." she folded her hands as she muttered.

The doctor smiled and patted Jimin's shoulder, "if you guys want to let the others know, go ahead and tell them, but refrain from overcrowding his room for now."

Jimin bowed and nodded to the doctor, "thank you," he said before watching the latter leave the room with a smile.

He looked at Chaeyoung, smiling excitedly, "let's tell the others," He suggested, and she nodded.

They walked out of the room and approached the others, "so, what did the doctor said?" asked Lisa – she and the other two girls rushed to the hospital when Chaeyoung called them a while ago.

"The doctor told us that even though Y/n already regained his consciousness, he would still need a lot of rest," Jimin explained. "He also advised not to overcrowd Y/n's room for now," he added.

The others heaved sighs of relief at the news, "so, who will keep Y/n company tonight?" asked Jin.

Chaeyoung stepped in front and cleared her throat, "since it's the weekend tomorrow, I will accompany him," she volunteered.

Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Baekhyun looked at her worriedly, "are you sure?" they asked in unison.

Chaeyoung looked at them, "of course. Why?"

Baekhyun shook his head and sighed, "you already skipped three days of school to stay by his side, I think you should go home tonight – I'm sure your mom is worried about you."

"It's okay, I already let her know."

Jisoo sighed, "are you sure?"

Chaeyoung nodded confidently before turning to look at Y/n through the small window on the door.

Your POV

I slowly opened my eyes, trying to adjust to the light coming from outside the room. I looked around before pulling myself up and resting my back against the headboard.

For a moment, it was quiet, but then I heard light snoring coming from the couch beside the door. I stared at it for a while, trying to make out the figure lying on the sofa. I took a deep breath before getting off the bed – I tried to walk toward it but fell to the floor midway. My legs were still hurting from the accident that happened six days ago.

I huffed before dragging myself toward the sofa – the figure I saw was Chaeyoung. She was sleeping well, and I smiled as she snored lightly. I brushed her hair off her face before pushing myself up, kissing her forehead before sitting on the floor, leaning against the couch as I watched her sleep.

She hummed softly before shifting on the couch – sleeping with her back against the sofa. She slowly woke up, and the first thing she saw was my face. "Y/n?" she mumbled in a raspy voice.

I smiled and watched as she slowly got up, sitting straight on the couch with crossed legs, "I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" I asked softly.

Chaeyoung shook her head and hummed, "you didn't," she replied before lying on the couch, staring at me sleepily. "Am I dreaming?"

"You are not," I replied, chuckling softly before lying down on the floor – we stared at each other for a while, and neither of us bothered to say anything during that period.

After realizing I was not on my bed, her eyes widened, "why—"

Before she could finish her words, I pushed myself up and kissed her softly.

^^^^^

Five minutes later, Chaeyoung helped me up and took me to my bed, and we lay on it together, facing each other. "How have you been?" I asked, caressing her cheek.

Chaeyoung smiled, "I've been worried about you, a lot," she replied.

I sighed softly, my smile slowly fading, "I'm sorry for making you worry...." I said, feeling guilty – I could see the exhaustion on her face, "you should rest now, okay?" I kissed her forehead and wrapped my arms around her.

She hummed and snuggled closer, resting her head against my chest. "I'm cold," she exclaimed. I pulled the blanket over us and nodded.

"Good night, cutie," I said while patting her head as I stared outside the huge window overseeing the view of Seoul's nightlife.

???? POV

I sighed as I crossed my arms – I can't believe they only told me about Y/n's accident after seven days. What were they thinking?

"We are here, sir."

I looked at my driver before looking at my watch; 10:37 a.m.

"I will call you when I'm done. Go ahead and grab something to eat," I told my driver before leaving the car and walking toward the hospital.

After getting Y/n's room information from the medical receptionist, I entered an elevator and pressed the floor where his room was. The door was about to close when I heard footsteps running toward the elevator – the person used his hands to stop the door from closing.

"Excuse me!"
