Chapter XV: Enrollment III [Part I]
Previously on The Man above the Ten Masters
Mari walked in between the two.
"I'm going to explain the rules now," Mari said looking at the two. "Spells that prove fatal, as well as those that cause your opponent irreparable damage are forbidden. Direct attacks should never cause your opponent any more than a sprain. Weapons are prohibited," she said with her left hand on her waist, a serious look on her face.
"She sounds so hot when she's serious," Y/N whispered to Mayumi, who could only giggle in response.
"Bare-handed attacks ARE permitted," Mari said looking behind her, staring at Y/N while a small blush was on her face.
Y/N had a nervous look on his face, knowing that she heard him. Mayumi again giggled.
"The winner will be declared either when one party acknowledges defeat, or when the referee determines that one party is unable to continue," Mari said, "I myself will be using sheer force to deal with any infractions of the rules, so be prepared!" Mari said, ending the rules with a smirk.
"Did she just smirk?!" Whispered Y/N to Mayumi. Mayumi nodded nervously.
"That's it," Mari said.
"In a battle between magicians, whoever strikes first with a spell wins," Hattori thought, as Mari ended the rules. "And a Bloom would never lose to a Weed, thanks to the speed of her CAD-based spell activation," Hattori thought smugly. "Not only that, but I hear that my opponent's practical skills are weak, even for a Weed. I've already won before the match begins..." He thought.
'Oh, he already has that smug look, can't wait to see when Yuuki wipes it off,' Y/N thought with a smirk, noticing the change in Hattori's mood.
Hattori closed his eyes, "Right after it starts, I'm going to launch a speed-oriented, simple activation sequence and have it complete before Shiba-san's. I'm going to cast an Essential Singularity-type Movement Spell..." Hattori thought. "It will knock her back ten meters...and the shock will render her unfit for battle," he thought.
'Victory will be mine!' Hattori thought as he reopened his eyes.
Mari looked at the two, "Are you ready?" She asked. Mari raised her right hand.
Yuuki gripped her CAD, Hattori pulled back the left arm sleeve of his uniform.
"Begin!" Mari yelled as she brought her hand down in a chop.
Hattori focused, a frown on his face, as he tapped a magical sequence on his CAD. A light blue glow surrounded Hattori, and two circles with random numbers appeared around his CAD; He pulled back his right arm.
Yuuki stared at Hattori for a minute, before she rushed him, however, she was fast.
Suddenly, Hattori received a shock, his eyes, and mouth wide open, his jaw slack. His whole body stiff.
His head felt dizzy, his vision going blurry. a deep shock going through his body, Hattori grunted for a while before he fell on his knees and went down to the floor; unconscious.
Yuuki appearing right behind him, with her CAD aimed at the position Hattori was in.
Y/N smirked, while the four student council members gasped. Even Mayumi was in shock, Miyuki had a smile on her face, with her arms clasped to her chest, tears forming in her eyes.
Yuuki lowered her CAD, and then looked at Mari.
Mari was looking at the unconscious figure of Hattori in shock, then she looked at Yuuki.
"The winner is...Shiba Yuuki!" Mari announced.
Present Time
~Third Person POV~
After a while, Y/N put Hattori against the wall, much to his dismay, he had to do it gently. Hattori was still unconscious, leaning against the wall.
Whereas, Yuuki was walking back towards her briefcase. The whole of the student council was still in shock.
"Hold up," Mari said with a frown, looking at Yuuki's walking figure.
Yuuki turned around to face Mari.
"That move you just made...Did you deploy a self-acceleration spell in advance?" Mari asked.
Y/N stood up, away from Hattori's figure. While looking at Hattori.
"That wasn't magic," Y/N said, his hands in his pockets; causing the student council to look at him."It was a physical technique," he continued.
"Yuuki is quite adept in ninjutsu, hence, her speed," Y/N said, looking at Mari.
"How do you know that?" Mari asked.
"Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Jui Jitsu, Capoeira, and many other forms of Martial arts, train you in many different types of "attributes" so to say," Y/N replied with a smile, "Ninjutsu, is about speed, however, Yuuki's style is quite advanced, something I've never come across," he said crossing his arms.
"My elder sister is undergoing training by Yakumo Kokonoe," Miyuki said proudly with a cute smile.
"That Kokonoe...?" Mari asked with her eyes wide open.
"Yes, the master of Ancient Magic, Ninjutsu," Y/N replied.
"I'm sure you're more advanced than me, Y/N-san, after all, you did beat Kokonoe-sensei," Yuuki said.
The student council then looked at Y/N with their eyes wide open, Y/N just shrugged. Mayumi just shook her head at him and smiled.
"That was only because I've been trained in pretty much all martial arts," Y/N said nonchalantly; which raised everyone's eyebrow, except Mayumi.
"Then was the spell you used in that attack also ninjutsu?" Mayumi asked. "It only looked to me as if you'd released Psion waves," she continued pensively.
"That's correct," Yuuki said, "That was an Essential Singularity-type Spell and all I did was generate Psion waves."
"Even so, that doesn't explain why Hanzo-kun got knocked out," Mayumi said.
"He was wasted," Y/N said.
"Wasted? On what, exactly?" Mayumi asked her boyfriend.
"Magicians perceive Psions just as they do visible light and sound waves," Yuuki cut in, bringing the attention to her. "When a magician is exposed to unexpected Psions, he hallucinates that his body is being shaken," she continued.
Yuuki turned and walked towards her briefcase, "It was this delusion, that brought on something akin to a violent bout of seasickness," Yuuki said, looking at Mayumi.
"Such a powerful surge as that...how on earth did you...?" Mayumi asked.
"Compound waves, right?" Suzune cut in, "You created three consecutive Psion waves of varying oscillation frequencies, calibrated them so that all three would converge where Hattori was standing, then generated a powerful surge, like a triangular wave," she said deep in thought.
"Impressive, Ms, Ichihara," Y/N said, causing Suzune to blush lightly.
"Still, how were you able to pull that off in such a short time?" Suzune asked. "With that kind of processing speed, I don't see how your technical scores could be so low," Suzune said.
Yuuki just smiled and did not reply.
"Excuse me..." said a cute voice from behind Yuuki. Yuuki jumped and turned around to see the Student Council Secretary, Nakajou Azusa, "By any change, Yuuki-chan, is your CAD a Silver horn?" Azusa asked excitedly, a look of admiration at Yuuki's CAD, while her hands were clasped in front of her.
"Silver Horn? As in Taurus Silver, the mysterious genius magic engineer?" Mayumi asked.
"That's right!" Azusa said with her eyes sparkling, like she was a kid in a candy store, her hands clasped in front of her.
Y/N could only chuckle at her childish behavior.
"A specialist in Four Leaves technology," she said, she turned around and tried to reach for Yuuki's CAD. "The miraculous CAD engineer whose real name, appearance, and profile are all shrouded in mystery!" she said. Attempting to reach Yuuki's CAD, but Yuuki used her height as an advantage and held it higher up.
Making it a comical sight to behold as she tried to reach for it.
Unfortunately, her eyes landed on Yuuki's briefcase. Azusa gasped.
"The programming genius who was the first to implement the Loop Cast System!" She said, as sparkles formed around her. "'Silver Horn' is the name of the specialized CAD model fully customized by Taurus Silver himself, and it's optimized for Loop Casting!" she said excitedly, still admiring Yuuki's CAD.
"But Rin-chan, that doesn't add up, does it?" Mayumi asked turning towards Suzune.
"No, it doesn't add up," Suzune said, closing her eyes and sighing. "The purpose of a Loop Cast is to launch consecutive invocations of the exact same spell. It just isn't possible to use a Loop Cast to create multiple surges of varying oscillations," she said deep in thought. "I suppose it's feasible if the oscillations are defined as variables, but to set the oscillations as one more variable along with the coordinates, intensity, and duration..." Suzune dragged.
Suddenly, her eyes widen, "Don't tell me..." Suzune said as she gasped. "That's exactly what you've pulled off here?" she asked looking at Yuuki.
Yuuki shrugged, "At this school, multi-variables aren't subject to evaluation..." she said, as she unloaded her gun clip and examined it, the clip was relatively closed off with a blue lid, "Not as processing speed, nor as calculations scale, nor as interference intensity," she continued, looking up at everyone and giving them a small smile.
Y/N looked away and shook his head in anger.
"In the practical exam," said another male voice, causing everyone to turn towards Hattori to see him kneeling, while holding his head, "magic skill scores are determined by Spell Invocation speed, the scale of the Magic Sequence, and Target Data Rewriting Strength," He grunted as he leaned his head against the wall. "I see," he said with a frown, still kneeling on the floor, "So that's what happens when tests don't reflect your true abilities," he said in anger.
Azusa walked to him, "Are you all right, Hanzo-san?" she asked.
Hattori looked to her, and quickly stood up, "I'm fine!" he said quickly.
He looked to Miyuki, "Shiba-san?" he said.
"Yes?" Miyuki asked, turned towards him.
"What I said before...about nepotism...that was rude of me," he said looking away in shame. "I was the one whose judgment was clouded," he said looking towards her. "I hope you'll forgive me," Hattori said closing his eyes and bowing slightly.
'At least he knows he made a mistake,' Y/N thought, looking at Hattori.
"Actually, I'm the one who was out of line," Miyuki said with a small smile, "Please forgive me," she said, bowing as well.
She stood straight, Hattori's focus then went to Yuuki.
He looked at her, closed his eyes and walked off. The doors opening and closing automatically as he left.
Leaving the rest looking at him, Mari just smiled as she put her hands on her hips, and shaking her head. Mayumi just smiled and closed her eyes. While Y/N just shook his head and smiled as well.
Azusa was now back at admiring Yuuki's CAD, however, she cried as Yuuki closed the briefcase. A sad look was on her face.
Mari turned around, "All right, we did get waylaid unexpectedly, but why don't we get back on track and head to the Disciplinary Committee headquarters?" Mari asked, looking at Yuuki.
Y/N just sighed and walked towards Azusa, as the rest walked off.
"Don't worry, A-chan, you'll get to see her CAD soon enough," Y/N said gently to her, giving her his charming smile; causing the girls to look back at the two and blush at his dreamy smile.
~Short Timeskip~
Mari and Yuuki were now at the Disciplinary Committee Room.
Yuuki closed the door behind her.
"It's a little untidy, but hey, find yourself a seat somewhere," Mari said, having one had on her hips, standing next to the long table, that was in the middle of the room.
The room was well, in a mess, the long table was cluttered, the shelves on the sides of the room were in a mess.
"Chairwoman, would you mind if I straightened this place up?" Yuuki asked.
"What?" Mari asked.
"As an aspiring magic engineer, I find this environment somewhat unbearable," Yuuki said looking around the room.
"Magic engineer?" Mari asked. "When you have such tremendous combat skills?" She asked.
"At my skill, no matter what I do, I can't hope for more than a Level-C license," Yuuki said with a smile.
~Another Short Timeskip~
Mari put a box of junk on the right side of the room, next to more boxes of various items.
"The reason I scouted you was..." Mari began as she faced the window, "Come to think of it, I've pretty much already explained that to you," Mari said as she turned around and face Yuuki.
"And I remember, but if you ask me," Yuuki said, examining a purple-colored bracelet CAD, "dealing with Course 2 students is a measure that could backfire," she said. Yuuki put it in the box next to her and carried it.
"Why do you think that?" Mari asked her right hand on her hip.
"The Course 2 upperclassmen won't take kindly to being policed all of a sudden by a younger student in the same boat," Yuuki said, as she put away the items from the box on the shelves.
"But I think you fellow first years will surely welcome you," Mari said.
"I'm sure there'll be double the animosity from the Course 1 students," Yuuki said.
"Sure, there's bound to be some animosity," Mari said with a smile. "But right now, everyone's just started here," she said as she crossed her arms.
"They shouldn't be all that poisoned by discriminatory impulses yet, right?" asked Mari.
"Who knows?" Yuuki said, continuing to put away the items. "Just yesterday, I got hit with the 'I'm never going to acknowledge you' treatment from someone," she said.
"Are you talking about Morisaki?" Mari asked.
Yuuki turned towards Mari, "You know him, then?" she asked.
"He'll be joining this committee under a Faculty recommendation," Mari said.
"Eh?" Yuuki said suddenly, causing the CAD to fall of her hands and onto the shelf.
"So even you can get flustered, too, I see," Mari said as she giggled lightly.
"Well, of course, I can," Yuuki said as a matter of fact.
Suddenly, the room's door opened.
Two male students stepped through the door. One of them with short brown hair said with his eye closed, "Morning!"
The other one with a fairer complexion and slightly longer hair, "Good Morning!" He said with a bow, with his eyes closed as well.
"Hey, Big Sis!" The short-haired male said, looking at Mari. The one who was bowing looked up.
"So you're here, huh?" the short-haired one asked.
"Chairwoman, we've completed today's patrol mission," the long-haired one stood next to the short-haired one with his back straight, causing the other one to straighten his back as well. "No arrests have been made," he continued.
Mari walked up to short-haired one angrily and slapped him with a rolled up paper.
"Don't call me Big Sis!" Mari said angrily, "How many times do I have to tell you?" She exclaimed while the short-haired male screamed in pain. "Is that head of yours just an empty ornament?" Mari asked as she was now hitting his head repeatedly, instead of slapping his cheeks.
The male was holding his head in pain, bowing slightly.
The long-haired just stood next to them, without saying anything.
"Please don't beat up on me like that!" said the short-haired one.
"Tch," Mari clicked her tongue as she stopped hitting him, and crossed her arms angrily.
He stood up straight and glanced at Yuuki.
"By the way, Chairwoman, is that a new face I see over there?" he asked.
"That's Shiba Yuuki of Class 1-E," Mari said with a smile. "He'll be joining us under the recommendation of the student council," she said.
"Emblem-less, huh?" the short-haired one said, as he looked at Yuuki's patch on her right shoulder.
"Tatsumi-senpai, your choice of words may run afoul of the banned words regulations," the long-haired one said to Tatsumi. "In this case, the proper term would be Course 2 student," he continued while looking at Yuuki.
"You guys," Mari said while having her arms crossed, turning the boys' attention towards her, "You're going to get the rug pulled out from under you," she dragged mockingly while sitting up on the table. "If you hold such a simplistic outlook, between you and me, Hattori just got himself royally tripped up a little while ago," she said with a smirk.
This causing the two of them to gasp with their eyes wide open, they turned towards Yuuki.
"You mean..." Tatsumi started, "she defeated Hattori, then?" he asked.
Yuuki just stared at the two of them, without showing any emotion.
"That's right," Mari said, as she stood up, "In an official match, too," she continued.
"Are you saying that Hattori, undefeated since he started her, got beaten by a new student?" asked the long-haired one in shock.
"I'm glad to have her on our side!" Tatsumi said with a small smile while crossing his arms.
"We've got ourselves a phenom, right, Chairwoman?" the long-haired male student asked excitedly.
"Who would've thought, right?" Mari said, looking at Yuuki with a smile.
Yuuki could only blink as Mari looked at her with a smile.
"This school, with its asinine 'Bloom'/'Weed' labeling, is teeming with people either wallowing in their sense of superiority or drowning in their sense of inferiority," Mari said in a serious tone.
"To tell you the truth, I've been fed up with it all, speaking for myself," Mari said with a sigh. "Fortunately, both Mayumi and Jyumonji of the Extracurricular Activities Federation know what kind of personality I have. They've used their recommendation slots to pick people who are relatively immune to those kinds of sensibilities," she said with a smile, "Their feelings of superiority may not quite be at zero, but they're good people who can evaluate others' skills fairly."
Mari put her right hand on the table, and her left on her hip, "I don't think this place will be all that uncomfortable for you," she said.
The two male students walked towards Yuuki.
(A/N: Now remember, he's a she this time, so you can't exactly shake hands with a female according to Japanese Norms.)
"I'm Tatsumi Koutaro of Class 3-C," said the short-haired male student as he walked up to Yuuki, "Nice to meet you, Shiba-san," He said bowing at a 45-degree angle.
"Able girls like you, are more than welcome here!" he said with a smile.
The long-haired male student from behind him, "I'm Sawaki Midori of Class 2-D," he said, "Glad to have you onboard, Shiba-san," he said bowing at a 45-degree angle as well.
Yuuki gave them a small smile, "I'm first-year student Shiba Yuuki," she said, "Likewise, it's nice to meet you, too," she said while bowing at a 45-degree angle.
The two looked away as a manner of respect to not look down her uniform.
Mari smiled at the interaction.

A/N: Right! It was going to be a lot shorter than this, but then I felt nice so I was like 'Why not?'
Anyways, was that good? Did it suck? What could be improved? Tell me in the comments!
Please do vote, as it tells you're enjoying the story so far! Sorry for being gone for so long, just dealing with life at this point.
