Chapter 1

After an awkward meeting between me and the mysterious pretty girl, I decided to take her to the village's chief who happens to be my grandfather.

"Ah! You are the girl that Mr Song talked about!" said my grandfather before wiping his sweaty face using the towel that he wrapped around his neck. The girl bowed and smiled at him.

"That is me. My name is Bae Joohyun," said the girl, bowing.

"Well then, I will go back to digging out potatoes," I said to my grandfather and was about to walk away when I felt him tugging on my sleeve. I turned to look at him and raised my eyebrows, waiting for him to say something as he was looking at me and then at Joohyun.

"Go and clean yourself — give Miss Bae a tour around the village," he said to me, and I looked at the Joohyun who was looking around while holding onto her luggage as if someone would come and steal it from her.

"I will be back," I said to them and rushed home. I didn't waste any second as I quickly get in the shower and cleaned myself. I am usually the type to take a nice, long shower that lasts around thirty minutes, but since I have to accompany someone to take a look around the village, I decided to take a quick shower.

I checked the time on my phone before leaving the house, and I was impressed by myself since I finished showering and getting ready in just twenty minutes — a new personal record.

"If you ever find yourself in need of something sweet, just come to this place," I said, pointing at the store behind us. It is a place where people around my age come to hang out.

"Um..."

"Yes, do you have anything to ask?" I asked, crossing my arms while flashing a soft smile.

"What's your name?" asked Joohyun, her voice was soft and almost inaudible.

"Oh, right! I haven't properly introduced myself. I'm Kim Y/n, it's nice meeting you."

"It's nice to meet you, Y/n. As you may have heard when I spoke to your grandfather, my name is Joohyun — but you can call me Irene," said Joohyun while fixing her hair before someone called me.

"Y/n!"

I turned towards the voice to see who it was and saw Sejeong running towards us while smiling widely. She stopped once she was standing right in front of us. She turned towards Irene and bowed before introducing herself. "Hi, here! I am Kim Sejeong — Y/n's cousin but I prefer to be called his childhood friend," said Sejeong rather enthusiastically.

I rolled my eyes and sighed softly, "that's true. She's my cousin but for some reason, she seems to prefer being addressed as Y/n's childhood friend rather than my cousin."

Irene chuckled and bowed at her, "it's nice to meet you, Sejeong. I'm Bae Joohyun, but you can call me Irene."

Sejeong nodded and looked at me, sticking her tongue out for no reason. I looked at her and scoffed, smacking the back of her head gently before looking at Irene who, for some reason was enjoying what she's witnessing.

"Anyways, we should head back now. It's getting late," Sejeong said, looking up at the orange sky. "Grandpa will get angry if we're late," she continued, and I looked at Irene.

"Wait, when you said we should head back, you don't mean —"

"Yes, silly! She's staying with us," said Sejeong, rolling her eyes.

"What —"

"Urgh — do you see any motels in this village?" she sighed. "Exactly, Y/n. There are none!" she continued, pulling Irene along with her towards our house.

*Time Skip*

"Y/n, are the foods ready?" whined Sejeong from the living room. I sighed and threw my head back before looking at the living room.

"You know, it would be a lot quicker if at least one of you would be kind enough to help me here," I replied and put the chopped potato into the stew I was cooking.

"Two more dishes," I sighed and looked at the ingredients on the kitchen counter. I was yet to work on them since I prefer to cook one meal at a time. I massaged my shoulder and sighed louder, hoping at least one of them could hear me and a sense of guilt for not helping me grow on them.

"Need a hand?" Irene asked, entering the kitchen while drying her hair with a towel. I was shocked to see her face without any makeup on. He was stunned by how pretty she is even without any makeup.

"I uh..." Y/n stuttered and Irene looked at her while smiling softly.

"I might not be a good cook, but I can help you," she said and grabbed the knife that was on the kitchen counter.

"Thank you, I really need a hand right now," I said, feeling a little relieved as someone is good enough to help me.

With Irene's help, I was able to cook quicker than usual and now, we were sitting around the dining table while enjoying the dinner Irene and I prepared.

"How is the stew?" Sejeong asked, she was excited to know what Irene think of my cooking. I wasn't really looking forward to the others' opinion since they are used to my cooking but since Irene is a guest, I was really curious about what she thinks of it.

I looked at her anxiously, hoping that my cooking will suit her taste. "It's good. I really like it!" she said, going in for another bite of the potato. I snickered and continued to eat my food.

"Oh, look at that! Y/n like the compliment he got!" said my mother teasingly and I looked at her, eyes widen. She would take every chance she got to tease me or embarrass me in front of other people.

*Another Time Skip*

After a dinner that was filled with teasing and laughter, I went out to get some fresh air. I went to a small gazebo not too far from our house and sat there for an hour or more depending on my mood.

I sat there quietly and stared at the starry sky quietly, humming softly to EXO's Stay.

Irene Point of View

I sat on the bed inside my room and leaned against the headboard. I looked around the room, feeling happy with the vibe the room gives me. It makes me feel like I'm home like this is where I belong.

I took my phone out and sighed, realizing that I left my phone that has all my contact back at the dorm. The phone I was currently using is a new one and the only number in it was Y/n's that I asked for this evening.

When I said I want to take a break from the celebrity's life, I really mean it. I made sure that no one I know can contact me.

I looked outside my window and smiled, seeing the peaceful and quiet street — something I really need at the moment. I was looking around when I saw the back of someone familiar sitting on a gazebo not far from the house.

I got off my bed and went to the front door, walking past the living room where Sejeong and the rest of the Kim family were watching the news.

After putting my shoes on and leaving the house quietly as not to disturb the others, I made my way towards the gazebo, hearing a soft voice singing as I got closer to Y/n. He was singing Self-Portrait by Suho.

"You have such a nice voice," I said, taking a seat beside him. He flinched and looked at me before sighing in relief.

"You surprised me, Irene," he chuckled and cleared his throat. "And thanks... I honestly don't think my voice is that good," he added and I shook my head.

"You should be more confident with yourself, Y/n. Your voice is really," I gave him a thumb up and smiled. "It's excellent."
