I was laying on the couch softly falling asleep as my boyfriend, Sans, was already asleep as he was snuggled up on my back. I guess you could call this spooning even though we are almost the same height. I heard a someone in the kitchen and it scared me.
"Papy?" I called out.
"Yes it's just me (Y/n). Are you hungry?" Papyrus asked.
"A little but you don't have to fix me anything." I answered feeling Sans's grip around my waist tighten.
"You sure?" Papyrus asked.
"Yeah. Thanks for the offer though." I smiled.
"Alright. I'm going by Undyne, if you do get hungry there is some lasagna in the fridge." Papyrus said before he walked out.
Sans began to twitch a little and I looked at his moving fingers. I picked up his hands from around my waist and rolled off the couch. I popped back up and saw that Sans was still asleep.
"Are you getting deeper in your sleep cherry?" I asked playfully, thinking he wasn't gonna answer.
"Not anymore." He answered making me jump out my skin.
"Oh my god! You scared the absolute shit outta me!" I gasped.
"Heh, I love you too, doll." He chuckled as he sat up and stretched.
I huffed and puffed out my cheeks to hide my blush. Sans smiled and grabbed me by my sides and pulled me into his lap. He kissed me softly for a couple of seconds before pulling away.
"How's that knee of yours? Still hurt?" Sans asked as he rubbed by bandaged knee.
My knee was in a worse condition than expected. I actually displaced my kneecap. We had to go to Alphys and she was excited to cut my knee open to examine it. I can say it was an....experience.
"Yeah I'm fine. It hurts when I twist is a certain way but I can deal with it." I smiled as I rubbed the crack of his skull with my thumb.
Sans closed his eyes and sighed contently. He started to play with the ends of my hair. You wouldn't expect Sans to be a huge softie. Especially in this world. It shocked Undyne to see that I had Sans in the palm of my hand. I wouldn't abuse that fact though. I have too much respect for him.
"(Y/n)?" Sans called.
His eyes were open now and he was looking me in my eyes. I moved my hand from his cheek and I felt him wrap his arms around my waist. I smiled as I played with his gold tooth. He began to laugh and moved my hand.
"C'mon doll, I'm trying to ask you something here." He smiled.
I nodded and placed my hands in his pockets.
"Why do you stick around?" He asked his smile faltering a bit.
Oh, that's right. He's also very insecure.
"I stick around because I love being here. Especially with you." I hummed as I leaned against him.
"Why do you love me?"
The classic question. He started to ask that after Undyne told him something. I have yet to learn what that something is but it really messed Sans up.
"Stop it. You know exactly why I love you. I really don't like where this is heading."
"This isn't going anywhere. I'm just asking questions."
"Sans you ask me this more and more frequently. What's going on with you?"
"Just answer my question."
"Not until you answer mine."
"I asked first."
"I asked second."
"Goddammit (Y/n)! Stop being difficult for one second on answer my question!"
I slid off his lap and stood in front of him. I looked down at him with a hard stare.
"Why do you doubt my love? Don't say that it's just you being insecure. You can't be insecure everyday. Do you know how much bull shit that is?" I asked harshly.
He seemed shocked before standing up. I stepped back away from him giving him enough room.
"I'm not doubting you." He answered.
"Sure as hell seems like it." I countered.
"Why can't you just answer the question? Do you not love me?!"
"There it is! The doubt! Self pity! Why do I have to explain why I love you when you don't even explain why you love me?!"
"God! Doesn't me saying I love you enough?!"
"Obviously not by your standards! Don't expect to receive something when you don't do it yourself!"
"Fine. If you wanna be like that then just leave."
I sucked in some air to stop the tears that threatened to flow. I stormed over to the door, grab my coat, and left the house as I slammed the door. The bitter cold stung against my face and my chest hurt. Once I got about halfway to Toriel's house I began to cry. I eventually got to the ruins and knocked on the large door. I heard it open a little and looked up at a concerned Toriel.
Sans P. O. V.
She won't be gone long. She'll come back when she realizes that she has no where else to go. I sat down on the couch with my arms folded as I stared blankly at the tv. I heard the door open after about two hours. I knew she'd be back.
"Hey." I said.
"Hello..?" My brother Papyrus answered confused.
My heart sank. So she might not be coming back..
"Where's (Y/N)?" Papyrus asked.
"We had a fight. She left about two hours ago." I answered glancing down at my hands.
"..Sans..are you sure she didn't get kidnapped my a monster here?" Papyrus asked as he started to move pots around.
Unbeknownst to Sans, Papyrus knew exactly where (Y/n) went but he wasn't going to hand his brother the answer so easily. I had sat there for a moment comprehending what Papyrus just said before getting up and rushing out of the house. Once Sans left the house Papyrus grinned to himself.
"Please don't let her be dead." I mumbled over and over to myself.
I stopped on the pathway that splits into Snowdin or the ruins. I noticed a random monster and ran to them. The monster looked up at me and was confused.
"Have you seen a human around here?" I asked trying to stay calm.
The monster stared at me for a moment and then nodded. I asked where they went and they pointed to the ruins. I ran to that direction hoping that I could find (Y/n). I know she's with Toriel so she should be safe.
(Y/n) P. O. V.
I was on the couch while Toriel was in her chair next to the fireplace. I have been ranting to her while trying not to break down as she listened, giving me her opinions at some points.
"I-I mean, yeah I love him and all but why does he have to ask me why I love him everyday! It hurts mom.." I said trying to stop crying.
"He might do that a lot but think of the world we live in my child. It's dangerous even for us monsters. Barely anyone can find love, now that he found you he wonders if you really feel that way or if you're just fooling him so you can stay alive." Toriel said as she stared into the fire.
I never really thought of it that way.. So he wasn't the one being a jerk.. It was actually me. I got fed up and blinded with anger that I let out all of it on him. I feel terrible. We heard loud knocks.
"I'll get it. Wait in your room." Toriel said as she got up.
I nodded as I took everything that would lead to the fact that a human was here with me to my room. I left the light off and sat on the bed and leaned my back against the wall. Despite it being full of furniture, the opening of the large door echoes throughout the ruins. Seconds passed soon minutes. It's been quiet. Too quiet. I started to fear my safety and what might have happened to Toriel. The door to the room opened and I looked to it in fear.
"(Y/n).." Sans' voice rang out.
He was there, I could see him clearly because of the light pouring into the dark room, but that was his figure..
"S-sans..what are you doing here?" I asked looking down.
He walked into the room and closed the door behind him. He walked over and sat down on the bed. A silence passed that showed how nervous Sans was.
"I'm sorry for being so difficult." I said after a while, refusing to look at him.
I felt the bed move as I was pulled towards him. I was leaning on him while he looked ahead. I felt a blush crawl up onto my cheeks.
"You know, you scared me." He said after a while.
I stayed silent giving him the opportunity to speak.
"I thought you might have been captured or worse. At that moment when I was asking monsters if they'd seen a human my heart sank every time they said yes because I thought they might've killed you." He said looking down at me.
I hugged him tighter feeling bad for what I've done to him.
"I love you." I mumbled and I buried my face into his jacket.
"I know, I love you too." Sans said softly.
He leaned against the wall and I fell back against the bed. He saw this and chuckled.
"You're too sweet." I smiled.
"What?"
"You were worried about me.~"
"Oh don't push your luck."
"Why not? It's fun to push things!"
"You are a difficult human."
"But I'm your difficult human."
"Damn right."
He laid down next to me and he sighed. I knew he was tired. Surprisingly, as I lay down on the bed, I realized that I was tired too. I turned over and snuggled into Sans.
"Don't tell me, you want to go back to sleep?" He asked with a grin.
"Yes, now cuddle me. I'm cold." I said with a smile.
"Fine.." He huffed as he warped his arms around me.
