Shall We Finish That Dance?

A/N Magnus sees Alec in his Shadowhunter mode!

TW: Sexual harassment is mentioned, so please be careful.

"You're not allowed to call yourself bad at dancing ever again," Magnus commented as he twirled Alec around, dancing at the Pandemonium, surrounded by churning bodies.

"It's only because you're so good that you can compensate for my awful skills," Alec replied, his hands on the small of Magnus' back, and through Magnus' way-too-thin shirt, Alec could feel smooth muscle.

"I'd like to disagree, sweetheart," Magnus whispered as they carried on dancing.

Magnus had finally convinced Alec to go dancing at the club with him, and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't elated at the fact Alec had agreed. More to his surprise, the Shadowhunter had allowed Magnus to choose his outfit, but Magnus chose to be kind: a black shirt (he forced Alec to have the top two buttons undonde - Alec could not be convinced to undo the third -) and slightly ripped black jeans.

Magnus himself was wearing tight, leather trousers, a white shirt, but most of his buttons were undonde. His chest was covered with a lot of chains and necklaces, so it wasn't too exposed.

"You look beautiful," Alec whispered as Magnus did a twirl before landing back in Alec's arms.

"Look who's talking," Magnus murmured back as he put his head down on Alec's shoulder.

"Any plans for tomorrow?" Alec inquired.

"I'm seeing a few clients in the morning, but I'm free after the afternoon. Why? Have something in mind?"

"I have a day off tomorrow," Alec explained.

"I may be persuaded to reschedule my clients," Magnus mused, "A handsome Shadowhunter is implying he'd spend a day with me. That's quite persuasive."

"You don't have to," Alec said.

"Of course I do. It's not everyday I can wake up next to you and stay in bed for a good hour just talking."

Alec smiled. "If you're sure."

"When you're involved, darling, I'm always sure about spending tome with you."

Alec kissed Magnus' temple, and Magnus kissed Alec's neck, sending shivers down Alec's whole being. "Magnus," he hissed.

"Yes, sweetheart?" Magnus asked innocently and caught Alec's lips in a kiss, stopping the dancing momentarily. Magnus was swept up in Alec's loving kisses, the soft bites, and quiet gasps when Alec's hands tightended on Magnus' elbows. Magnus pulled away, raising an eyebrow.

"Do you hear that?" Alec asked. Magnus did not.

"Hear what?"

"Someone's screaming I think," Alec said, and Magnus saw Alec switch from the warm boyfriend and sweet kisses, to a confident Shadowhunter, his whole body alert.

"I'm sure it's fine," Magnus brushed it away, wanting to get Alec back into his arms, but Alec seemed determined.

"Magnus, someone's in trouble," Alec said, and the warlock could still not hear a thing. Shadowhunter hearing. "You stay here. I'll be right back."

"Alexander, I'm coming with you."

And so Magnus followed Alec as he weaved around the people, heading towards the lounge area, and now someone was definitely asking for help, the sound coming from the closed off sofas that were the furthest away from the entrance of the lounged.

Alec lit a seraph blade, hid it in his sleeve and edged along, Magnus at his heels, thankful most people were dancing or at the pub rather than at the sofas.

And Alec saw the scene, his blood rushing with fury. A girl, mundane with the Sight by the looks of it, was on the sofa, pulling her knees to her chest, which was not very well covered. Her dress seemed to be in shreds, some of it on the floor, and leaning over her was a werewolf, his hands going to rid the poor girl of the rest of her clothes. She whimpered and before the werewolf's hands could touch the girl again, Alec's hands closed around his wrist.

The werewolf turned and spat, "Shadowhunter."

"Good obervation skills," Alec replied, "And what are you doing exactly?"

"She's my girlfriend," the werewolf said.

"No," the girl whispered, trying to cover herself up.

She probably knew Magnus and Alec weren't going to harm her, but she was squirming away from all of them; afterall, being nearly-naked surrounded by three men would never be comfortable.

With the werewolf still in his grasp, Alec removed his shirt and tossed it to the girl. The gratitude in the girl's eyes broke Alec's heart. She shrugged it on and it was as if a physical weight was removed from her.

"I don't care. She could be your wife, and what you were doing is not okay," Alec snarled, "Say sorry to her and walk away."

"No."

"I think you'd regret not listening to him," Magnus put in, shaking out of his reverie of admiring Alec in his Shadowhunter confidence. His lack of shirt didn't help.

"And who are you?"

"The one who will set you on fire if you don't apologise."

The werewolf roared, but Alec's Shadowhunter grasp meant he couldn't transform into wolf form. Magnus displayed blue sparks at his fingertips. Alec showed his seraph blade. The wolf snarled, but gave up on fighting. Alec nodded to Magnus and Magnus tied magical blue ropes around the werewolf so that he could not escape.

Alec slapped the werewolf and said in a menacing voice, "Apologise to her. Now."

That voice. Magnus was embarrassed about the fact Alec's Shadowhunter confidence bothered him so much when they were in the situation they were in.

"Sorry," the werewolf snarled. The girl nodded, Alec's shirt wrapped around her shaking body.

Alec turned to Magnus. "I'll call Jace. He's on Patrol nearby and he can take care of the werewolf?"

"Sounds good."

Alec called his parabatai, who came in moments later, fortunately Patrolling just a street away. He looked at the werewolf.

"Not good, Mister," Jace said, "Who do you think you are, huh? Some sex god? I can assure you not everyone wants to sleep with you. I think that criteria fits me more."

"I'm offended at the fact you're leaving me out," Magnus said.

"Of course," Jace ammended, "And Magnus here does as well. You, on the other hand, can come spend a few days in the Institute. And don't try to get any of them girls in bed. Isabelle will murder you with her heels if you so much as touch her. And Clary can murder you in at least ten different ways and so can the others. So keep your hands to yourself, and let's go."

Alec smiled and Magnus created a Portal through which Jace dragged the werewolf through to the Institute. And then Alec looked at the girl, kneeling down next to her.

"Are you okay?"

And then the girl broke into sobs, throwing herself at Alec and hugging him. Alec looked stricken before he gently hugged the girl back until she finished sobbing.

Magnus watched it with something close to awe. He knew Alec was a protector, a selfless angel, but seeing it play out before his eyes were something else. Alec's heart was good, Magnus knew, but there was something in the way he was holding the girl, so gentle, but firm, a reassuring support, protecting her from harm, and Magnus felt pride and love wash through him. That's my boyfriend, he thought.

"Thank you," the girl said.

"It was nothing," Alec replied, and Magnus watched this, absolutely smitten, "How come you're here?"

"A faerie friend bought me here, but she went to get drinks, and then the werewolf..." the girl shuddered.

"You don't need to say anymore. Where do you live? We'll walk you home."

"It's okay," the girl said, "I'm going to find my friend."

"Are you sure?" Alec asked and the girl determindedly nodded.

"Here, a change of clothes," Magnus put in, snapping his fingers and summoning jeans and an oversized hoodie. The girl accepted and went to the toilets to change, returning with Alec's shirt in her hands. The Shadowhunter shurgged it on as Magnus watched a little sadly.

The girl thanked them again and departed, and as soon as she was out of the way, Magnus yanked Alec forwards into a bruising kiss that had Alec gasping.

"Why are you so hot?" Magnus mumbled, "Why are you that hot when you're saving someone?"

"Huh?" Alec seemed kiss-dazed.

"You were just so... so heroic," Magnus said, "And so kind, and selfless, and brave."

Alec blushed, "Just doing my job."

"You didn't have to, though," Magnus reinforced, "You weren't on Patrol. You didn't have to do anything. But you did. And you looked so sexy in your Shadowhunter mode. I may have to come with you on all your Patrols now."

"We'd both just get distracted," Alec said and Magnus couldn't really disagree, but he could kiss Alec, so he did.

This was also one of feiry passion, a kiss which turned them both drowsy, until all Magnus wanted was to push Alec against the sofas and stay kissing for an eternity. But there were still conversations to be had about that area, Alec still needing to find his feet, so Magnus turned the kiss to a sweet one, a gentler one.

When the urgency of the kiss died down, Magnus whispered, "Shall we finish that dance?"

"I would love to," Alec whispered back and they entered the dancefloor again and Magnus still couldn't get over Alec's confident, brave Shadowhunter side, and he made this known to Alec as they danced the night away, the Shadowhunter blushing furiously as they moved as one through the dancefloor.
