Call Me, Pretty Boy?

A/N This will be Malec's first meet. Like the description says, all the stories will make sense on their own, and will also make a timeline of Malec when read together, so I hope you enjoy!

Alec Lightwood and his siblings were arming themselves and also dressing slash disguising themselves to go fight some demons at the Pandemonium.

When they reached the club, it was all lights, and sound, but their Sensors picked up at least five demons, so knowing their target was in reach, the siblings went inside cautious.

The Sensors picked up demons near the bar, near the dancefloor, and by the private lounges, so Jace, who was leading the mission, turned to face Alec and Izzy.

"I'll go the lounge way, Izzy: dancefloor, and Alec go to the bars?" Jace asked.

"You got it," Izzy smirked and strolled towards the dancefloor, the whip ready to spring into action.

"You good, Alec?" Jace asked with the adrenaline of battle.

"Yeah," Alec smiled, equally thrilled with blood rushing through him. He took to the bars, sat in one of the seats, a knife hidden up his sleeves. Someone sat next to him, and his Sensor was pulsing, so as discreetly as he could, Alec slipped the knife out, and stabbed the demon in the side. It went out with a poof, Glamoured so no one saw.

He then turned to face the dancefloor, found a demon edging towards Izzy, and flung a knife, taking it out before it could even touch his sister.

And then, to his surprise, he heard a sharp command, "Duck, Shadowhunter."

And for some reason, Alec did, startled as a whisp of blue flame hurled above him, taking out a demon coming to his left. Alec turned to his right to find the warlock responsible for the magic.

He was tall, black hair in spikes, glitter wound through them, amber eyes glistening and hands ready to fight. He was wearing leather trousers, a white T-shirt which was quite nearly undone, and damn. He was gorgeous. The warlock came closer. Alec stood up.

"Well," he said, a smirk about his lips, "Are you going to thank me, or just stare?"

And who knew that's where Alec Lightwood would start stuttering at mostly everything this handsome warlock had to say?

***

Magnus took in the Shadowhunter: black hair, blue eyes, his favourite combination. Those arm muscles as he flung the knife, and the way he stood up from the chair to face Magnus.

"Well," Magnus said, "Are you going to thank me, or just stare?"

"Oh, I um, well," the Shadowhunter stuttered, and Magnus was caught off guard more than he thought he would be, and just stared as the boy went many shades of red.

"Thank you," the Shadowhunter finished.

"You're welcome...?" Magnus said, unsure of the name of this Shadowhunter.

"A - Alec," he said, giving Magnus a smile that lit up his whole face.

"Well, Alexander, it's lovely to meet you," Magnus said, presuming Alec was short for Alexander. Alexander was a prettier name anyway, more weight and value than just Alec. "I'm Magnus Bane."

"Oh, the High Warlock," Alec's face lit up in recognision.

"That would be me," Magnus agreed.

"Well... Um... Do you um need payment?" Alec asked after a moment of silence. Magnus was confused.

"For...?"

"Taking out that demon," Alec explained.

Magnus couldn't help the sly grin on his face. "I wasn't going to ask for anything, but now that you've suggested it, I guess you could let me buy you a drink?"

"Oh um... Isn't that you paying more?"

"Well, I want to," Magnus shrugged.

"I - Magnus, it's just... I don't really... Um... Haven't really done -"

Magnus didn't really know what came over him. He held a finger to the Shadowhunter's lips, quite the distance from touching him, but close enough, apparently, for Alec to draw in a shuddering breath. He felt the young boy's unease, and something in him snapped, and made him want to stop the light teasing. "It's okay. I don't need payment."

"Right. Um. Thanks."

"You've already thanked me."

"Oh yeah. Sorry."

"No need to apologise."

"By the Angel. I'm sorry. For wasting your time. Bye, Magnus."

Magnus smiled an amused smile and said, "You haven't wasted my time. It's been a pleasure. Take care, Shadowhunter."

And Magnus saw Alexander blush and walk away, the feeling of butterflies, long dead, slowly flickering back to life, like a candle in the dark.

When Alec got back to Jace and Izzy, both of them were grinning.

"What?" Alec asked, furious that he was still blushing.

"Killing the demon took some time, huh?" Izzy smired.

"I -  yes."

"Very believable," Jace grinned, "Who was he?"

"Who was who?"

"The guy you were talking to."

"The High Warlock of Brooklyn."

Alec tried to make the encounter seem proffesional.

"Hm," both Jace and Izzy hummed but let it go.

"Want to dance for a bit?" Izzy asked.

"Sure. I think I saw Kayleigh dancing," Jace said. Kayleigh. Another poor girl that was bound to have her heart broken. When was Jace going to find the right person? Who and where was she?

"You, Alec?" Izzy asked.

"I'm good."

And Alec slumped off to the sofas, keeping an eye on Izzy and Jace.

He didn't know how long had passed, with him randomly looking at his phone, wondering what it'd be like to let go and be free, with no responsibilities, or burdens.

"Well, hello, again." Alec jumped out his skin when he heard the familiar voice, and turned to find Magnus sitting next to him.

"By the Angel, Magnus," Alec sighed.

"Sorry," Magnus grinned, "Really overselling Nephilim reflexes."

"I was just thinking," Alec managed with a shy smile.

"About?"

"Just... just life," Alec shrugged, his actual thoughts too deep to share with a stranger however handsome he may be.

"Hm. Full of wonders and surprises, life," Magnus said, and Alec found himself talking.

"Not really... Mine's just such a routine. Get up. Workout. Report. Train, and then Patrol," Alec mumbled, "It's not boring as such, but never any surprises or wonder, or anything to look forward to."

"Well, that will pass, Alexander," Magnus said after a moment of thought, "You'll find someone that'll surprise you. Trust me, a someone to surprise you is worth thousands more than a something."

"Much experience?" Alec asked a bit too bluntly, "Sorry, that came out wrong. I just meant you've had a long life right?"

"I have, and that's why I say it's always the people that matter. Never the things around you. Just the people with you," Magnus smiled and Alec couldn't help blushing, afraid of the hope the implication gave, unsure whether any of it was for him.

"Look, I don't know what you're trying to tell me, but I'm not ready. I've not... I'm sorry," Alec finished, looking at his shoes, because he couldn't bear to look at Magnus' amber eyes.

"Don't apologise, Alexander," Magnus said kindly, smiling, "I must get going now... Unless you'd like a dance?"

"I-" Alec didn't know what his answer was going to be, but just then, both his siblings arrived, and at the sight of Magnus sitting there, they both smiled too knowingly.

"Sorry, Magnus," Alec mumbled, "I - um gotta go."

"Of course," Magnus smiled, and then a sly grin appeared as he winked, and said, "Call me, pretty boy?"

And Alec blushed the whole way to the Institute.
