We will do this...together.

(I hope you're ready for the next chapter! Enjoy your reading!)

When Sans woke up, he felt...lighter and heavier at the same time. But it wasn't for the same reasons: he felt lighter, for he felt relieved of a weight that was gnawing at him. To learn that he didn't cause a patient's death...it felt like he had been freed. And if he felt heavier, that was entirely because of the skeleton who was on top of him, squeezing him tightly in his sleep. But...Sans didn't mind it. He felt it quite comforting.Anchored. Sans snuggled closer to Red, craving some affection and warmth. But as the other was still sleeping, warmth will be enough for now. He was thinking about what would happen now. He openly reciprocated to Red's feelings. He couldn't do as if nothing ever happened between them, that would be unfair, to both Red and him. So what, should he quit? And to do what? Work in astronomy? Who would take him seriously? And what would he say to the others? To his friends? His family? What if Red hadn't been serious yesterday? What if now-

Sans' thoughts stuttered at the same time as his body jolted, his teeth parting as he let out a soft gasp when he felt teeth closing over his clavicle. What just- "It's too early ta have negative thoughts. And incredibly rude when ya're with good company, don't ya think?" Sans blushed from embarassement, looking up, just to be met with two crimson eyelights. "...S-Sorry... I...erm..." Red sighed, sitting up with Sans still in his arms, making the latter sit with him. "I understand that wrapping yer mind around what's happening is hard. But ya're not alone, alright?" "...I thought you were asleep." Red grinned down at him, showcasing his sharp teeth. "Me? No, I was awake for a few minutes." "Wh-! Why didn't you say anything sooner, then?!" "Mmh... Just wanted to watch ya sleep~..." Sans blushed even more, looking down. "Anyway. Do ya want ta talk about what ya have on yer mind?" "...I...I was thinking about what I should do. As I have to quit my job soon, I was trying to figure out what's next." "Ya know...We can always tell the truth. About what happened to yer patient." "*Sigh* No, we can't." "What? But why?" "First: How did you get those evidences?" "...Uh..." "Yeah, that's what I thought. If we sued them, those wouldn't work, as we got them illegally. Second: What would it change? My patient would still be dead. Nothing would change. And...even if people learnt the truth, do you think that will change their opinion about me? Once people forged an opinion about someone, even if it's false, they stick to it, no matter what."

They fell silent fot a few moments. "And...what if we said nothing?About us?" "You want to hide our relationship?" Red was speechless, completely red in the face. "R-Relationship?" Now, it was Sans' turn to turn blue. "S-Sorry! I ...erm...I a-assumed that...uh..." Red took his hands in his, a large smile spreading over his face. "That's...That's okay! I was just surprised! Seeing as ya weren't answering my affections before yesterday, I thought that maybe ya needed time or something. And...ya don't want ta hide it?" Sans shook his skull no. "No. I don't want to hide it. This wouldn't be fait to both you and I. I...I love you." Sans said with a small smile and a blue blush to his cheekbones. Red smiled sheepishly, hugging Sans. "...I love ya too, Sans. And if ya don't want ta hide our relationship, then I don't want ta either. But I hope ya're aware I won't hold back!" Sans laughed at that, before noticing that Red seemed nervous. "Are you okay?" "It's just...I'm fucked up, Sans... Are...Are ya sure that ya want ta be with me? I-" Sans stopped him by kissing him deeply, eliciting a small moan and a sqeak from Red, as the latter was pushed on his back, Sans on top of him. Red blushed at that, his eyes wide. Sans pulled back after a moment, letting the both of them breath. "*Huff* *Huff* First, you're not fucked up, you have a condition." "Are ya serious?" "Yes, I am. And second: If you're fucked up, then so am I. And you still didn't give up on me. Why should I give up on you?" Red sighed, gently caressing Sans' cheekbones. Felling the contact, Sans closed his eyes and leaned into Red. "Ya got me there. And if ya're sure, then so am I. I want ta do this too, with ya."

Though it was easier said than done, they kept their words, they tried their best. Once their brothers learnt that they were together, there wasno going back: friends soon learnt too, relatives, classmates... They were surprised the whole city didn't know it yet. Though when it reached Sans' superiors' ears, they weren't as pleased at thei friends, quite the opposite. Giving him an earful about being in a relationship with a patient, about having break their trust and the ethic code, to which Sans answered with his resignation letter. "They wanted to fire me, and I didn't want to give them this satisfaction." Was what Sans said when he went back home this day. Everyone tried to comfort him, but he really was fine. He was freed from  this star-damned job. And even if that allowed him to meet Red, he didn't regret it one bit. And once it was done, Sans went back to Natia's office, but to have know if she knew good therapist, to which she answered him with a small piece of paper, giving the time for their first session. Sans was determined to try everything so he would feel better. It wasn't just for Red,or his friends and family though. It was for him. He wanted to feel better.

As for Red? Things were evolving little by little. His new treatment took some time to kick in, and when it does, Red felt his emotional thermometer crank up to eleven: when he was sad, he would sob in Sans' arms, crying over a broken plate, or something benign. when he was angry, he would spare with his brother until he couldn't move or scream. After a week though, everything settled doxn slowly. The voices quieted down too, and he moved out with Sans, in a small appartement. He was searching for a job, not really knowing if people would willing to take him, but he was still trying anyway.

Sans...was trying to adjust to his new life. Having someone in his life felt so foreign to him. It was different than having his brother with him. Different, and so much better. Having someone to go back to every evening was something he looked forward to, and loved to. But that didn't mean his mood was at his highest. He applied to as many jobs as he could, but didn't get any answers so far, his depression was kicking in, some people, aware of who he was, would glare at him, words were whispered behind his back, but louder enough for him to hear. 'Murderer' was the one he heard the most. He tried to block it, but it slowly got to him. That was why he was curled up on the couch, his skull on Red's shoulder, Red's arms around his body. When he felt his depression crawling back, he told it to Red, who immediately stopped everything to help Sans and comfort him. Just to be there for him.

And here they were, watching something on the TV, a blanket around them, with some snacks on the table. Red was petting Sans' skull softly. He was really proud of Sans, for having came to him for help. He trully was doing his best, just like Red was doing. They really were both doing their best, dragging each other to the top. By helping each other, they were helping themselves. They were improving, together. He felt a tug on his jacket, making him looked down at Sans. The latter put his hands on Red's cheekbones, pulling him down in a kiss. Red let him do, closing his eyesockets and kissing back. They pulled away, slightly breathless. "Th-Thank you...for being there for me. For everything you did so far. I never realised how much I needed someone like you in my life." Red hugged him tenderly. "Ya've done so much for me too, Sans. It's thanks to ya that I'm here, right here and now, on the path of healing. Thank ya...for being in my life." They both were moved, small tears of happiness. "We'll both be alright, right? We just need time and to hold on, and have each other's back, right?" Red nodded, resting his skull on top of Sans. "Yeah... We can both do this...together. As long as we have each other, everything will be alright."
