Chapter 8 - Blood Brother part 1
Steve's p.o.v:
A mobile phone rings in a store cupboard, I stop and turn to Danny.
"You hear that?" I say, Danny nods and we open the door. A man, sits, tied to a chair, with a gunshot wound to the chest. I rush over and check for a pulse.
"He's alive, but barely." I say to Danny.
"What's your name? Who did this to you?" I ask them man, who is barely alive and conscious.
"Bomb." Is all he says.
"Bomb." He says again, but before we can react, everything goes black.
BOOM!
Earlier in the day <<<
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I looked over at the clock, 4:15! I answered the phone.
"McGarrett" I say, getting up and stretching. "Yeah, I'll be there soon" I say, hanging up and going to have a shower. I get dressed and ready to leave. On the way out, I check up on Tia. She's fast asleep. I write her a note and leave it on the counter before going out to my truck. I pull out of the drive and haul ass to the palace. I get there just as the others arrive. We head up to the offices and see the governor waiting.
"What's going on sir" I ask, leaning against the table.
"We've had a tip off. Apparently there's going to be a gun sale/trade go down at this address (gives address). I want five-0 and SWAT to go bust it. It's linked to your case" We nod, and gear up.
When we arrive, we head in and get into position.
"We're in position." I say over the radio.
"SWAT is all set." Lou says.
"Give us the word, Commander."
"Three, two, one. Go! Go! Go!" I say, as we bust through the doors. When we get there and clear it all, the floor is empty. No sign of anyone being here recently.
"Well, maybe it's just me, but aren't there supposed to be guns in a gun deal? Maybe a gun dealer or something like that? Doesn't make sense." Danny says, raising his arms.
"This is where the deal was supposed to go down." I say, unsure of why no-one is here.
"Looks like you boys got some bad intel." Lou says.
"Well, maybe they caught wind we were coming and changed the menu." Danny says.
"Or maybe the time got moved up and we're late to the party." I say.
"Okay." I say, gaining the attention of the others.
"Well, we'll canvass the area and see if anyone saw anything." Lou says, taking his SWAT team with him. (A/N He is a part of Five-0, he's just commanding SWAT on this mission)
"All right. Catherine, do me a favour, call the ATF, all right? See if anything's come up on their radar." I ask her.
"Roger that." She replies, and walks outside to make some calls.
"Thanks for the backup, Lou." I say, starting to walk out with Danny, SWAT in front of us.
"You got it." He replies, leaving the building.
"Maybe they moved up the time? What do you want me to say? Maybe that you were wrong. That we should have vetted this thing properly before we wasted everybody's time. Maybe listening to a convicted felon is not the right move. I-I don't want to put words in your mouth though." Danny says, for once I'm starting to believe him.
"That son of a bitch-- he's laughing in his cell right now." I say, slightly pissed off.
"Let's go." I say, heading for the door.
"Just for the record, this is the same thing as admitting you were wrong." Danny says, loving the fact that he was right for once.
"Yeah, okay." I say, walking past the store cupboard.
A mobile phone rings in a store cupboard, I stop and turn to Danny.

"Bomb." He says again, but before we can react, everything goes black.
Outside the building – no-ones p.o.v:
Half the building has collapsed. Captain Grover calls for help.
"This is Captain Grover. I got a collapsed building. Address: 1085 Ahua Street. Expedite fire and rescue. I need all available units, ASAP!" He hangs up, and walks over to Catherine, who is digging at the rubble.
"Steve! Danny! Danny!" She screams, worried for her friend and boyfriend? Lover? Who knows what they really are. They haven't been together much since she left to do work across the other side of the world. She only met Tia a few days ago, and she's only here to help out with the tip off.
"You got to get out of there, Catherine, it's not safe." Lou says, pulling her away from the rubble.
"They're down here! Danny! Danny! Danny! Steve! Danny! Steve." She shouts, trying to get back to the rubble. Fire and rescue soon show up and start working on freeing those trapped.
Steve & Danny in the rubble – (Steve's p.o.v:)
I wake up, surrounding by rubble and metal. I shake my head, getting my bearing's, whilst coughing, due to the dust in the air. Danny.
"Danny! Danny!" I scream looking around the rubble. I see a body, and rush over to it. Thankfully it's not Danny, it's the guy who was shot and locked into the store room. I look around again.
"Danny!" I shout. I hear him cough and raise his hand.
"Hey. I got you, buddy." I say, gabbing his hand.
"I'm right here. I got you." I say, moving the concrete that covering his chest/body.
"My leg's pinned." He says, pointing to the beam on his leg. Hi shifts a little and groans.
"I think I broke a rib. Where's the other guy? Huh?" He says, looking at me"
"He's dead. Okay, listen to me, this thing's too heavy. I can't lift it." I pull out my phone, only to be told I have no service. I sigh, putting away my phone.
"I got no cell service down here, so I can't call for help."
"Okay." Danny says, laying his head back.
"I'm gonna go get something to give me some leverage, get this off your leg, okay? I'll be right back. All right?" I ask, getting up to find something I can use to free his leg.
"Whoa-whoa-whoa. Don't go just yet." He says, freaking out and grabbing my arm.
"Danny, relax, it's gonna be okay." I say, grabbing his hand.
"Is it okay? 'Cause I'm in a confined space with a bunch of concrete on top of me, and given my present condition, that's not the best situation for me. You know what I mean?" He asks, starting to freak out.
"Right, right, right. Claustrophobia." I say, trying to calm him down.
"Yeah."
"Okay. Take a deep breath, okay?" I say, trying to get him to breathe with me.
"No, that's no good. It makes it worse." He says, shutting his eyes and sighing.
"Danny, I got to get this off you. You understand me?" I say, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. He nods.
"All right, all right, okay. All right, Carter's behind the plate. We got Santana Hey, hey, hey. Hernandez. Hernandez playing first. Backman's playing second base." Danny starts saying.
"What are you doing?" I ask, confused.
"Helps me relax. I just recite the '86 Mets line-up. It helps me relax." I nod my head.
"Oh, that's great. That's good. No, that's good. I'll be back, all right? Okay." He nods his head and continues to mutter to himself.
"Santana's playing shortstop."
"Good." I say, getting up and moving around. Trying to find a pole of some sort to free Danny's leg.
Outside the building – No-ones p.o.v:
"You have any idea where your boys were when this thing came down?" The chief of fire and rescues asks Captain Grover.
"No idea. Last time we saw them was on the bottom floor." Grover says, walking towards the rubble with the chief.
"That's roughly and concrete between us and them. We need to set up water, power and gas." He says, stopping and looking at Grover.
"I think that's already been done. We need to get in there and get them out of there." Grover says, worried about those trapped, wanting to desperately free them.
"Before I start bringing in heavy equipment and putting my people at risk, I need to determine if this is rescue or recovery. I understand you have a personal relationship with these guys."
"You damn right, Hank.
I know these guys. They're survivors. And the longer we stand around here waiting around, the less chance they have of coming out of there alive." Grover says, slightly annoyed, even though he knows they're doing this the right way.
"Protocol is: we don't dig until we've located bodies. The sooner we pinpoint their location, the sooner we come up with a game plan, all right?" The chief, Hank, says. Grover nods.
"Do your best." Grover says, placing a hand on his shoulder, before walking over to the rest of the team.
"Any update?" Kono asks.
"No. We're still trying to locate them." Grover says, shaking his head.
"Catherine and I have been trying their cells, but it goes straight to voice mail." Chin says, stepping away from the ambulance he was sat in, getting the cut on his head checked out.
"We were set up." Grover says, annoyed, not knowing whether Steve or Danny are still alive.
"What about Tia? Someone should call her, before she sees it on the news and panics" Catherine says. Grover nods and Catherine walks off, to call Tia.
