Chapter 11 - Crash Course?

It's been a week since the building collapse. Danny and Grace went on holiday a few days ago, just the two of them, for some father/daughter bonding. Danny is almost fully healed. Uncle Steve went back to work two days after the collapse, mainly because he wanted to spend some time with me and mainly because that's when they got their next case. Catherine left again. She went on a secret mission by herself to rescue people from a village she once worked in who have been kidnapped. It was hard for me to see her off because in the past few weeks we've really bonded, but it was even harder for Uncle Steve because he really loves her. Whilst Catherine was saying goodbye to everyone she told Uncle Steve to move on, as she wouldn't be coming back, and she made me promise to make sure he does. Of course, I agreed wanting him to be happy, but I knew it was going to take a while for him to be truly happy again.

Since I've moved out here to Hawaii a few months ago, I've not really spoken to any of my old friends. I messaged them when I first arrived telling them that if I didn't message them, please leave me be as it's the only way I would cope with everything that happened. It was hard for all of us, but they understood.

I've made some friends out here, they're really nice. There's Kailey, she's 16, we met surfing. We instantly become the best of friends. Then there's Jake, he's Kailey's neighbour. He's really funny and one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. Finally, there's Kio, he's Jake's boyfriend. They have been dating for 2 years and are the cutest couple ever. We try to meet up at least once a week if not more often. All four of us surf, so that's normally our go to activity or choice.

I stopped going to my MMA and kickboxing classes when I left Seattle and haven't taken them back up out here in Hawaii. It's not that I don't want to, it's just I like to train and practice on my own. Me and Uncle Steve have been training regularly. We alternate between activities. On Mondays we swim, Tuesdays we run, Wednesdays we do both, Thursdays we do MMA and Fridays we do Kickboxing/self-defence. On the weekends, we either have a 'rest' day or we do whatever we want to.

Today is Friday, meaning it's kickboxing/self-defence day. I wake up at 6am. We train for 45 minutes before we have to get showered and ready to head to the palace for 8am. I get out of bed after spending a few minutes flicking through me social media account. Just as I go to get changed into my sports gear, there's a knock at my door. I shout come in and Uncle Steve's head pops through the now open door.
"Hey, you ready?" He asks me, leaning against the door frame.
"Yeah, I was just about to get changed. I'll be down in five" I say, standing up from my bed.
"Okay" He says, leaving my room and shutting the door behind him. I grab my sports gear.

I put on my pink sports bra with my black, thin, vest top on top, my grey shorts and my pink Nike trainers. I left my jacket inside as it's really warm. I filled my bottle up with water, grabbed my phone and headed outside.
"Let's do this" I say, putting my things down, before stretching. Uncle Steve chuckles, and starts to stretch with me. After a few minutes, we start to train.

I throw punch after punch, and kick after kick into the pads that Uncle Steve is holding. After a 10 or so minutes, we stop and do 3 sets of push ups, sit ups and squats, each set we do every activity ten 10 times. After the sets are complete, we take a break and have a drink before going back to the punch bag. After 45 minutes, we stop.
"Well done Tia, remind me not to get on your bad side" Uncle Steve says, patting my shoulder.
"Well you know, I am an Ashmore" I say smiling, proud to hold the family name.
"Having parents who are Navy seals has its benefits. And now look at me, living with yet another Navy seal and living around the five-0 team!" I say, laughing. Uncle Steve nods his head and raises his hands in surrender. We go inside to shower and change. We grab breakfast to go on the way to the palace.

When we arrive at the palace, we go straight up to the five-0 floor and enter the main area. Me being me, instead of going to Uncle Steve's office or sitting on a chair, I grab my breakfast in a box from the bag Uncle Steve is holding, and sit on the floor by the window. I lean against the wall and start to eat, ignoring the looks everyone gives me. Uncle Steve, like a normal person, sits down and eats his breakfast at a table. Chin walks over to me, with an amused look on his face.
"You know, there are these things that you can sit on called chairs." He says, pointing to one.
"I know, but I'm hungry and quite comfy here" I say, looking around me and continuing to eat. When I finish my breakfast, I get up and put the box in the bin. I grab my drink and sit back down where I was sat before. I pull out my phone and start to flick through social media. The team doesn't have a case yet, so for now they're just completing any paperwork they have, it's quite boring really.

At around 10 am, a man and a woman walk through the doors, being escorted by a patrol man. Uncle Steve walks over to them.
"Can I help you" he asks, wondering why they're here.
"Hi, I'm Agent Leanne Wilson and this is Agent Tom Kent, we're looking for Steve McGarrett and Tia Ashmore" The woman, Leanne says. This gets my attention. I stand up and walk over to them.
"I'm Steve McGarrett and this is Tia Ashmore, how can we help?" Uncle Steve says, shaking their hands, I shake them as well.
"Well, we're here to talk to Tia actually. Firstly, let us express our deepest apologies for the loose of your father." I smile and nod, and let them continue.
"Secondly, we want you to go on a crash course for special training. We believe that with all the training your parent gave you and the training you do now, that you would make a great agent. You're young we know, but you're 16 in a few weeks and we think that you would make an excellent junior agent. Now, you won't be going undercover or anything like that, but you will be an assist to a team/speciality of your choice." OMG! What they heck? Is this actually happening? I stand there speechless and shocked. After a few minutes of just staring at them, Uncle Steve speaks, dragging me back to reality.
"Wow, okay. Well obviously, we'll have to speak about it more, but hey Kiddo, it's your decision, I'll back you either way." Uncle Steve says, slinging his arm over my shoulders.
"Of course, here's my contact information call or email me when you've made a decision." Leanna says, handing me and Uncle Steve and business card each. I nod and smile.
"I hope to be hearing from you soon Tia" She says, and then starts to walk out.
"Thank You!" I shout after them, and with that they're gone. I look at Uncle Steve, shocked.
"Uncle Steve, did that actually just happen?" I say, squealing a little bit and bouncing up and down. He nods his head and pulls me in for a hug.
"OMG! What should I do?" I ask, not sure whether I should actually do this or not.
"I don't know Kiddo. It's your decision, but if I were you I would do it" Uncle Steve says, smiling.
"Okay, I'm gunna do it" I say, grabbing my laptop. I open up my emails and type in Leanne's email address.

Dear Agent L. Wilson,
I am writing to inform you that I would gratefully like to except your offer today. I would really like to take this agent crash course. Please message me with all the necessary details.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Yours sincerely,
Miss Tia Ashmore
I read it again, before clicking send. I smile and shut my laptop. I put it away before walking out to join the others.
"Hey guys, guess what happened today" I say, speaking to Chin, Kono and Lou.
"What happened T?" Kono asks, excited due to the expression on my face.
"Hang on, I want to skype Danny and Grace and tell you all together." I say, hitting the skype button on the electronic table. The phone rings and after a few seconds, Danny and Graces faces appear on the screen.
"Hey" Danny says.
"Hey, are you having fun?" I ask them, wanting to know if they're enjoying their holiday.
"Yeah, feeling much better. All healed, doc said I'll be back to work when I arrive back" Danny said.
"That's great Danny. You'll never guess what happened today" I say squealing, making everyone desperate to hear my news.
"What happened?" Grace and Danny say at the same time
"Well, 2 agents, Agents Wilson and Kent, stopped by today to ask me if I wanted to take part in a junior agent crash course. Basically, if I take the course I'll become a junior agent and get to choose a team to work alongside with."
"Wow! That's great T. I's so proud of you!" Danny says.
"Awesome T, come here" Kono says, as I hug her then Chin.
"Well done Tia, that's great new!" Chin says. I turn to look at Uncle Steve.
"If it's alright with you, I'd like to work with five-0" I say, kinda stating a point whilst asking at the same time. He nods his head.
"Of course, Kiddo, just promise me you'll be careful" I say, hugging me.
"I promise" I say, smiling because of how happy I am.
"Okay well, we'll see you in a few days when we get back" Danny says. We all nod.
"Okay, have fun. Call us when you land, we'll come pick you up" I say, knowing I beat Uncle Steve to it.
"Will do, see you later" He says, before he hangs up. We all decide to head over to Kamekona's shrimp truck for some dinner, and as like a well done present. Kono invited Adam, he said he'll meet us there. Me and him are friends now as we met, right after I moved out here. I'm glad he and Kono are happy together.

When we arrive, we all sit down at a table and order. Adam soon joins us.
"Congrats Kid" Adam says, giving me a hug.
"Thanks. All of you, you've all been amazing" I say, proud to be a part of such a tight family/work force. Shortly after our food arrives. We sit and eat, making chit-chat at the same time. It finally starts to get late so we decide to call it a night and head home. It's Saturday tomorrow, meaning we only have to go into the palace if the team gets a case. We head over to Uncle Steve's truck and get in. We pull out and start to head home. I decide to check my emails, and find I have a reply from Agent L. Wilson. I open the email and start reading.

I read the email out loud to Uncle Steve.
"Well, you have everything on the list – so that makes things easier" He says, as we pull into the driveway. I grab my bag and we head inside. It's really late, so I say goodnight to Uncle Steve and go straight to bed. It's hard to believe that in 2 days, I start my crash course and then I'm a qualified junior Agent!
