Epilogue

***Okay, like, PIXane is just doggone cute. No one is changing my mind. I had wanted to save this song for another ship, but...nah. I love the purity of it for PIXAL and Zane.***

***(PIXAL's POV)***

Three weeks later

***Music Cue***

Zane guides me out of the back of the limo he borrowed from Cyrus Borg. He blindfolded my eyes so I cannot see where I'm going.

Technically, I could use my scanners to see right through the cloth, but I'm not going to disappoint Zane like that. He said he had something very special planned for tonight.

Three weeks ago, Zane was struggling with a lot – his father's death, his robotic identity, his crumbling team. He even got kidnapped. After we found Jay and Nya on that frightening day he was captured, he decided to give our friendship some time before deciding if we should be...more than friends.

He did invite me to the school's winter formal as his date, which counts for something. That's where we're supposed to be headed this evening – the formal. However, he said he intended to take me to dinner first.

I have a feeling tonight is going to change the status of our relationship – permanently.

"Do you like my shoes?" I ask as he leads me over to a spot on the cool grass.

"They suit you very well, PIXAL. However, I cannot attest to their...functionality?"

I giggle. "Yes, I suppose stiletto high heels aren't the best for grass."

"I have a solution." He scoops me up into his arms. "May I carry you to our destination, mi'lady?"

I try hard not to smile. Zane's romantic side is...quite amusing, but also incredibly adorable.

"I would be pleased to allow you to transport me there," I reply.

I feel us walk for several more feet before he sets me down on a blanket. He drapes another one around my shoulders, even though I don't need it, and begins untying my blindfold.

"Thank you for agreeing to be my dance partner tonight," he says softly, allowing the cloth around my eyes to drop to the ground.

I blink to see him ready in his suit and tie. Around us is a huge feast of Italian food – my personal favorite. There's ravioli, minestroni, and pasta fazool, as well as meringata for dessert. Beside a bowl of steaming breadsticks is a wax candle that flickers in the darkening sky and releases a pleasant aroma.

I also find that we are most definitely not at a restaurant. This appears to be the local park.

"Did you make all these culinary masterpieces yourself?" I inquire.

He nods. "Yes. It took me the whole day, but I had a little help."

"Not from Cole, correct? I've come to find he's a horrible cook." I've visited the monastery several times since his team learned of my identity. They still don't know Zane and I are robots, but we're working toward telling them.

"He is awful at it," Zane agrees. "And I feel no guilt for saying that. No, I had help from Jay."

I furrow my forehead. "Jay. Are he and your other friend – Nya – not back together yet?"

"No," Zane sighs. "And they seemed so happy together, too. Jay isn't taking the breakup well – he's becoming a little clingy. Nya, on the other hand, seems to be doing fine. She's just...distant."

"And they still won't tell you about what happened when they were captured by the Sons of Garmadon?"

"No. They've told Cole a little more than Lloyd or me, but...I don't know that any of us has the full story." He shakes his head. "But that is not what I wanted to talk to you about. I wanted to speak about our relationship."

"Our relationship?" I ask, smiling.

"Yes. PIXAL, I never had romantic feelings toward anyone before you. That makes sense, given that I'm a robot, but what does not compute is that I fell for you in spite of my inability to be attracted to others. You were different." He fits our palms together. "We are...compatible."

"Yes, Zane," I grin. "We are compatible."

He exhales. "Androids do not usually experience nerves. I should not have this issue."

"You're nervous?"

"Indeed. PIXAL, I...I would...I should very much like it...I would be honored..." He looks down at the blanket underneath us. "I would be honored if you would agree to be my girlfriend, PIXAL."

I slip my fingers through his. "There was no need for you to be afraid, Zane. I would love to be your girlfriend."

"Really?" he gasps, excited.

"Yes. I've known I wanted to be with you for a while – for the past three weeks, four days, twenty-one hours, forty-two minutes, and twelve seconds."

"That's amazing!" he laughs, pulling me into a hug. "PIXAL, I do believe you are vital to me."

"And I believe the same of you." I press my face into his chest and close my eyes against tears – I've never had those before.

The truth is, I'm coming to have a lot of things I never thought I would possess. I have a father, friends, human emotions.

And now...

Now, I have a romance realer than any I could ever have imagined.

***Thanks for reading "Compatible"! We're rounding this series out, everyone - only three books left!

When I first started writing "I Never Knew", I knew I somehow wanted PIXAL to make an entrance. By the time I finished that book, however, the only scene I was sure of was the one where she found him when he was locked in the closet. Obviously, this has come a long, long way.

I'd like to thank everyone who read this book and everyone who's taken the time to read this series. Thank you for all your feedback and votes. They mean the world to me and inspire me to keep writing.

Doggone it, why are endings so SAD? I have so many mixed feelings right now LOL

PIXAL and Zane will return in "Wrong Place, Wrong Time". That book comes right after the next one in the series.

Oh, yeah! That unrevealed book. Don't you think I should officially reveal it, even though you all already know what it's gonna be?

Ladies and gentlemen, "That One Girl" will be...

*drumroll*

COLE x VANIA!

Haha, I had you all FOOLED! *Maniacally laughs*

Just kidding, just kidding! It's Coliel, I promise. I'm posting the description and prologue as soon as I'm done writing this. Did I have you guys there? ;)

Until next time...

God bless,
