Chapter 33 - Leaving My Mark
Eli's POV
How could they do this to me? Well, when I say 'they' I mean 'she' , Chloe, the person I found in my spot after she'd run away from her family. I brought her up. I taught her how to put all that pent up anger to good use, how to fight, how to get out of bad situations and this is how she wants to repay me? I looked at the group of them and looked away in disgust. Those people? She chose them over me. The guy with the messy blonde hair and fringe, the guy with the blonde streak and the guy with long black hair, she thought they were better than me? I desperately tried to hold back the anger that was inside of me. We actually had to fight each other and damn it she only went and won! I didn't want to fight her, the memories of us were still fresh in my mind; all the things we had done together, especially since Seb and Tom went to prison. At the same time, though, I was seething. Seething to the point I could have beat her into the concrete and not cared at the time. Can no one see why I was so mad? Can no one see it from my point of view? She'd met these guys and they'd turned her so easily back to her old self; The Chloe I knew when we first met. She talked the talk and walked the walk but she had a conscience and that was what I couldn't deal with. She'd get mad at someone, hit them and then feel bad for doing it – so I changed her. Yet here we are, back in the same position where she wants to be the hero and the villain at the same time. All my hard work was wasted. Everything we'd done together and witnessed together and she forgot about it so easily, just because some new guy smiled the perfect smile at her.
If she wanted to be the hero, I was just going to be the villain.
Chloe knew only too well what I was capable of and what I had planned for this dump, which I was going to use to my advantage. I'd snuck into the car park while she celebrated her victory with the wrestlers and used an abandoned hose tube to suck the gas out of someone's car into a plastic bottle. If I was going to jail, I was going to go out in style. I wasn't going to cower in a corner and wait for the police to get me; I was going to cause as much damage as I could so everyone would be reminded of me. I'd be going away for so long now it wouldn't matter; my criminal record was as long as a novel.
I held that bottle up as they all walked out and I instantly saw how Chloe's face contorted in horror. She threw the others to the floor as I threw the bottle, but little did she know I wasn't aiming for them to begin with, I was always aiming for the building. I was going to cause a lot of damage today, more than that company could imagine. How could they give Chloe two hundred hours of community service for damaging one ring? Everyone looked down on her too, just for that tiny miniscule bit of damage. What on earth were they going to be like when they saw the damage I'm going to create? I'm going to burn this place. The pictures are going to smash and blacken, the plastic is going to melt, the place is going to heat up and burst into flames and I was going to sit back and watch it, admiring my handy work before the cops were going to turn up. There was no point in trying to hide, Chloe knew all of my secrets and she knew everywhere I'd go to lay low. It'd be more trouble than it was worth.
I'm here now. One of those twins is making the phone call to the police now. Let's go out with a bang.

Chloe's POV
Eli had officially lost it. He knew I'd won and that he was going to jail so he thought it'd be a good idea to do as much damage as he could before he left, just so everyone could remember his presence. The smell of gasoline had hit us all and we all exchanged worried glances.
"Nikki." I whispered to her. "I need you to run back inside and tell the others to get out of there. Call emergency services as you do. We'll need Police and Fire." Her eyes widened in worry. No-one had really thought about Eli's next move but I had. He was going to set it alight and watch the place burn just like he'd promised when he found out they'd offered me a job. "You guys go with her and make sure everyone is out; Ingrid, Steph... Everyone!" They all nodded, knowing they couldn't do anything more to help me. It would be pointless for them to stand by me and watch, just in case it did all go wrong. I stood up and strode towards Eli, hoping my distraction would be enough for them to run inside.
"I still can't believe it." Eli said to me, a crazed look in his eye and a Cheshire cat grin on his face. "You chose them over me." He pointed back at the guys who were just getting up off the floor. They froze on the spot as soon as they saw he was looking in their direction. Eli was bewildered but it made sense to me. There was no way I could explain it easily to him, not in this state. He'd never understand the fact I wanted to attempt a normal life that didn't involve broken bones and blood. For once I wanted to see what 'normal' was like, especially after finding out everything I did over the past few days. There I was fighting a guy who actually wanted to be on my team, doing community service for someone who wanted to trash the place in revenge and finally meeting someone who else who was like me but changed for the better, unlike Eli and myself. Dean's words had really stuck with me; every time I had a moment to myself they went back round in my head.
"You wouldn't understand, Eli." I folded my arms across my chest. He sighed.
"Whatever." He held out his hand for me to shake. "Good fight by the way. I taught you well." I hesitated but held my hand out and shook his. His grip was tight and restricting.
"Best fight I've had." I complimented him and his grip loosened slightly. "You can really see why we were a good team." I praised him again and his grip relaxed once more.
"Sorry about your face too." He said. "It's not a proper break." He knew what he was doing? More to the point he knew how to stop it from properly breaking my nose.
"Sorry about your ribs." I continued, trying to sweeten him up before he noticed the gang of people had escaped and run inside. "It should just be bruising." He still held onto my hand. I tried to tug it back but he wouldn't let go. My stomach sunk – this was all a ploy. I tried to pull my arm away again but his grip began to tighten with every tug. Well done Chloe, you idiot!
The sirens could be heard in the background and relief washed over me. He surely couldn't create that much damage in this short space of time. Without warning, he yanked my arm towards him and I fell forwards, right into him. He let go of my hand and used that arm to hold me by my waist. He pulled a lighter from his pocket and flicked it on. The flame danced about in the wind for a second before he threw the lighter into the doorway and the light blinded me.
