Chapter 1

Kids have been rushing in and out all day as the semester was supposed to start. Starry eyed freshman got hoodies representing the university. It was a small store as I sat behind the counter, playing a game on my phone. My boss wasn't in and there weren't any customers or things to stock, letting me have a little bit of peace and quiet. It was nearing closing time and I decided to start closing procedures.

I was in the process of closing down one of the registers when someone hurried in. He went to the textbook section and was muttering to himself. I walked over, looking at him curiously. He was a little bit shorter with black hair but the sides were shaved and dyed dark red. He was wearing a dark hoodie with some black jeans.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

"I am looking for a textbook," he said. "It is MCS 147."

I went to the computer and looked it up.

"It's not in but we should get it in two days," I said. "What we can do is you can preorder it and pay for it now so when it arrives you'll be notified and we'll set one aside for you so it won't sell out."

"Yes, perfect," he said.

I printed the barcode and went to the register so he could pay for the book. I got his info, putting it into the system.

"Alright, here's your receipt," I said. "You'll get an email as soon as it comes in."

"Thank you," he said. "Can I get your name? Just so I know who gave me the preorder in case there's a complication."

"I'm Gerard," I said.

"Right, Gerard," he said. "I'm Frank. Well, I guess you already knew that when you took my info for the book. Are you closing soon?"

"In about fifteen minutes," I said.

"Okay, okay, do you mind if I buy some stuff real quick?" He asked.

"Go for it," I said.

Frank nodded, picking up mugs, t-shirts and stuffed animals. There was quite a lot in total.

"I'm a first generation college student," he said with a proud smile.

"That's great, congratulations," I said.

"Yeah, I'm not crazy and getting like seven mugs for myself," he said. "It's for family members because they're all really proud of me."

I smiled and checked him out just as my brother came in. Frank paid and left with his bags of stuff. Mikey smiled, sitting on the counter as I closed the registers.

"You know you're not allowed to be in here during closing procedures," I said.

"No one's here," he said.

I closed up the store and sighed as we walked out of the main building. It was still warm outside as I looked around.

"You okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, just a little bit nervous," he admitted. "This is my first year."

"It's gonna be okay, Mikey, you're gonna do great," I said.

Someone placed a hand on my shoulder and I flinched, turning around. I smiled when I saw it was only my boyfriend.

"Why are you so jumpy?" He asked.

"Sorry, Andy, I just didn't hear you come up behind me," I said.

"Hey, Mikey, you excited for your first days of college?" Andy asked.

"Yep," Mikey replied quickly. "I'm gonna go back to my dorm. I'll see you later, Gee."

He left and I smiled, holding Andy's hand. I looked up as he smiled down at me, his beautiful blue eyes squinting as a tuft of black hair fell onto his forehead.

"So, did you want to go to dinner now or did you want to wait for a little bit?" He asked.

"I have to go to my studio really quick to drop off my textbook but I'll meet you at the cafeteria if that's okay with you," I said.

Andy nodded, leaning down to give me a kiss. I smiled, giving him a hug before I walked to the art department where my studio was. I dropped off the textbook that was in my backpack. Lindsey was in the studio and she smiled as she waved at me.

"Hey, how was work?" She asked.

"It was busy, everyone's buying their textbooks but it got pretty not busy," I said.

She nodded, running a hand through her blonde hair.

"Well, I told Andy I would meet him for dinner," I said. "Did you want to join us?"

"I already ate," she said. "Thanks for the offer, though."

I smiled and went to the main building where the cafeteria was. Andy stood up and smiled when he saw me, kissing my cheek. We went in and swiped our student IDs. We got some food and sat down at a booth.

"So, how is your family?" I asked.

"They're doing good, my mom is definitely gonna miss me, she always does when I'm away at school," he said.

"Oh, that's sweet," I said.

Andy nodded, eating his spaghetti.

"So, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go on a date with me on saturday, we can go to that park nearby," I said. "It's supposed to be nice out and it's the last Saturday before classes start."

"I don't know, you know I'm not really a big park person," he said. "Besides, Saturday my frat is holding a party for the last weekend of summer. I was supposed to go shopping for supplies and help set up."

"Oh, okay," I said.

"You get it, right?" He asked. "I mean, I can't let my brothers down."

"No, yeah, you made the commitment to them first," I said. "We can just do something some other time, it's not that big a deal."

"But I'll make it up to you, Babe," he said and I smiled. "At the party I can take you up to my room and we can totally have some sex."

My smile faltered. "Oh, yeah, great."

"What? Are you not happy with that?" He asked. "Be thankful I'm even allowed to do that much, I'm the first gay frat member and first one to live in the house. Some of the guys don't even like it when you're over at all."

"Well, when you said you would make it up to me I just thought it would be a little more special," I said with a small shrug.

Andy bit his lip. "Well, I know the perfect thing then if you want it more special. I'll even light some candles and put rose petals on the bed."

I sighed. "Yeah, yeah, that sounds good."

"Hey, Biersack," some of his friends said as they walked up to our table. "Your frat still having that party on Saturday?"

"Yeah, see you there," he said.

His friend talked with him for a little bit as I pulled out my phone, checking to see if I had any new messages before putting it away. His friend walked off as Andy stared at me.

"What?" I asked.

"I just think it's rude that you had your phone out while we were together," he said.

"You were having a conversation with your friend," I said.

"It's still rude," Andy said. "You should be cherishing our time together more."

"I'm sorry, Andy," I said.

He nodded as I poked at my food.

"Oh, I forgot to mention," he said. "You look very nice today."

"Oh, thank you, Andy," I said.

We finished dinner and dropped our plates off at the wash station.

"I'm gonna head back to the frat if that's okay with you," he said.

"Yeah, that's okay," I said. "I'll see you later, I love you."

"I love you too, Babe," he said.

Andy gave me a kiss before he left. I sighed and looked at the time. It was only nine. I went to my dorm where my roommate was.

"Hey, Ray, how's it going?" I asked.

"It's good, dude," he said. "Had a boring time at my math precourses, though."

I nodded, setting my backpack down.

"So, are you going on that park date with Andy on Saturday?" He asked.

"No, he already had plans with other people," I said.

"Is it that stupid frat party?" He asked. "He should cancel and put you first before some party."

"He promised them," I said. "It's not a big deal, we can always do something another time."

"But your his boyfriend, you've been together for over a year," he said. "And those are just some frat brothers who are passive aggressive towards both of your sexualities. They're literally just setting up for a party. Can't he at least do a morning date with you?"

"I-I don't wanna pressure him," I said. "It's okay, it's not a big deal. We can always do something another weekend."

Ray didn't say anything more but he didn't look the happiest either.

I changed into some soft cotton pajama shorts and a tank top.

"Did he go back to his house?" Ray asked and I nodded. "Thank god he doesn't live on campus, he would probably be smothering you the entire time and would never spend time apart."

"Yeah, about that," I said. "You know how last year sometimes I would ask you to not come to the dorm? Can we keep that deal again this year?"

"Yeah, that's fine," he said.

I nodded, climbing onto my bed. I laid down and stared at the ceiling before looking at Ray, who was typing away on his laptop on his bed.

"Ray, you wanna go to the frat party with me on Saturday?" I asked. "Andy's gonna be busy so I know he's not going to be able to pay much attention to me the entire time."

"Yeah, I'll go with you," he said.

"You don't want to, do you?" I guessed.

"No, I really don't," he said. "Do you hate me for that?"

"No, I'm not gonna just force you to go to a party you don't want to go to," I said. "It's fine, you don't have to go. I guess I'll have to do this thing where I actually talk to people and make friends."

Ray snorted, setting his laptop aside.

"So, did you want to watch a movie with me tonight?" Ray asked.

"Hell yeah I do," I said. "What did you have in mind?"

"Well, I was thinking maybe we can watch your favorite," he said. "Have a mini movie marathon."

I gasped. "Star Wars the prequels?"

"Star Wars the prequels," he confirmed.

I squealed in excitement as he turned on the tv and started up the movie.
