Prologue

Tonight was a full moon, as well as Halloween. Tonight was a night for ghosts.
Shadows lingered in a graveyard, a large house looming over it. This was the Mad House, a house no one went near, Halloween or otherwise. Sure, the occasional teen spent the night there, but they always came back babbling and crazy, if they came back at all. Only one had spent the night there and come back sane, and she was standing in front of the Mad House now.
She had long, brown hair and blue eyes flecked with silver. She wore a long, white, thin nightgown, and a fire opal pendant circled her neck on a short gold chain. Her name was Commi, and although she thought herself perfectly sane, most considered her completely looney. Mostly due to the fact she insisted she could see ghosts.
A small white cat curled around her ankles, hissing at the Mad House doors.
"Oh, Salem, don't be silly!" Commi giggled. "The Mad House can't hurt you. It's only a house, after all." Commi said this to convince herself as much as Salem. The Mad House scared her even more then it scared the cat, if it was possible. You see, it was there that she had discovered she could speak to lost souls. They had told her horrible things, things hidden in riddles.
Taking a deep breath, Commi stepped into the house. A scream tore through the air, then all was silent. No one ever saw Commi again. Well, for a few years at least. I was the next to see her.
