The Brutal Downfall Of CM Punk | Phil Brooks

Alright, welcome back guys and guys with no dicks. There are two different kinds of wrestlers in the sport, we have the nicest and friendliest you'd want to hug and take pictures with and hang out as well and we have the wrestlers who would do anything to retain their toxic reputation except maybe a few fans.

With this kinda thing, especially with celebrities, you could get John Cena or Russell Crowe out of this as the guy I'm gonna be talking about is almost a spitting image of Crowe.

CM Punk, also known as Charles Manson Punk (one of my personal nicknames for him), who has a very big reputation, impacted millions of fans and brought people back to wrestling with the Pipebomb from 2011.

His wrestling and the matches he's had are the last thing I wanna focus on in this because I just want to get into the reason why I decided to write this in the first place. It has to do with the recent controversies that's involved him and what led to his long overdue firing from AEW.

Now before I get into all that, I heard a recent report about what lead to Punk banning people from AEW: Collision and it has to do with a skit on Being The Elite.

Obviously, I'm not gonna go into detail about the whole thing, but from what I heard, it pissed Cement Mixer Punk off so much that he would ban Ryan Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler's brother), Christopher Daniels, and almost the entire group of The Elite.

Of course, one of the members of the group had to clear it up and say that the whole thing was to make fun of the issue rather than cause more trouble as Punk thought he was going to have an anxiety attack after hearing about it.

Wish I was kidding, but it turned out that there was a group meeting between two parties, trying to make sure that a repeat of Brawl Out 2022 doesn't happen at AEW: All In, which would be quite impossible to do as there was a legal letter sent to the Young Bucks by Punk beforehand, saying that they weren't allowed to speak negatively about each other publicly.

Yeah, for someone who calls the other talent like children as he said at the 2022 All Out media scruff, Chubby Monkey Punk sure as hell acts like a child.

All of this would lead up to another brawl at All In this year, and I'll get to that later on, but I want to set the stage for what would happen during this time as:

1. I'll be going over the 2022 Brawl Out incident, what lead to it, and give my take on it
2. I'll be going over Punk's return to AEW at Collision and what lead to it as I'll be giving my take on it as well

So strap on your strap-on as we're going on a bumpy ride.

The first one we'll talking about is in May 2022 when Punk and Hangman Adam Page had beef backstage because, in my personal opinion, this was the root cause for what took place at AEW: All Out last year and going forward. Punk and Page had a very intense rivalry that had to do with Punk's former friend Colt Cobana as it was in the details.

Back in 2014, Cool Mint Punk had been fired from WWE after walking out from the Royal Rumble, but later on, he was served a defamation lawsuit regarding a WWE doctor under the name of Chris Amman over remarks that Punk had made on Cobana's podcast "The Art of Wrestling". What lead to that was the two having a falling out over the legal fees and whatnot as it wouldn't be talked again until 2022 by Page bringing it back the fuck up.

So at Double Or Nothing in a video package for the AEW World Championship, Page had to take a shot at Punk and say,

"I have no respect for you and what you've done since you've gotten here. You want this AEW World championship — you want it? I don't think you understand what it means to be a champion, after all these years I don't think you get it. Because it's not just about what happens in this ring, it's what happens when that red light turns off. What happens when you go back through the curtain. It's those small, quiet moments when you think no one's watching. That's what makes a champion. You talk a big game about 'worker's rights,' right? Well you've shown the exact opposite since you've gotten here."

Everyone had claimed that it was all a work, but it really wasn't as I can tell from the eyes rather than the promos themselves. To me, eyes can express true feelings and that's what people seem to ignore these days and think with their second heads.

And Punk? He knew what he was talking about as it gave him an itch in the throat that only a bayonet could fix and it pissed him off so much that he would win the title at Double Or Nothing, burying Adam Page in the process.

As we know, Punk would have a title run that's kinda forgettable to me because he injured his ankle, had surgery, came back early, and that was when the lackluster feud between him and Moxley had begun.

All of this would lead to a unification match in Cincinnati between the Interim World Champion Moxley and the real World Champion Cornelius Middlesex Punk.

After all, it was what the fans wanted to see: mouths bruised, eyes black, blood flowing from their heads, it was given 8 stars from Dave Meltzer himself, and it was deemed as the greatest match in AEW history.

WHICH IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT HAPPENED!

You see, early on in the match, Punk hurt his ankle again and had to get looked at. Once the doctors had gone out of the ring, Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift on Punk for the three count, and that was it.

I mean, Diesel vs Mable at Summerslam 1995 was more entertaining than this quote unquote "match".

It was one of the worst matches in AEW history and the two would go at it again, but this time, do an even bigger dumpster fire version of the first one, leading to the return of one Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

When it was all over, Punk would go on to talk about All Out and talk shit about the EVPs of AEW, including Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Don Callis, Brandon Cutler, Michael Nakazawa, Pat Buck, and Chris Daniels, leading to an all out (no pun intended) fight between CM Punk and Ace Steel.

When it was all over, Tony Khan even went the extra length to suspend The Elite and Punk as AEW: All Out 2022 had ended with the media scruff as a report from CagesideSeats.

Now, I'm not gonna read all of that for the sake of going insane since I hate talking about this part, so if you wanna read it for yourselves, then go ahead, just know that I've moved on from AEW since All In this year, and I'll get to that, do not worry, my child.

At the end of the next Wednesday, it turned out that Punk would be staying with the company rather than fired, which I'll get to in a little bit, as this would start be the end for him as Ace Steel would be rehired and then Punk berated him and pushed him away.

It really sounds like Punk doesn't really have friends and whenever someone starts to have a positive interaction with him, he starts to see red and would come up with some way to ruin their day.

I bet you a fifty and an underneath the counter handjob that if you tell him happy birthday, he'll scream in your face and run in the opposite direction.

Eventually, Punk would return to AEW, but on the premiere of Collision on TNT, sorry Savio Vega, almost a rerun of when AEW: Rampage done its first episode and he would continue to fire shots at The Young Bucks by calling them "Counterfeit Bucks" and just not giving a shit about the backlash he could get from it all.

If you think that would be the end of firing shots at The Elite, then let me reintroduce you to "Hangman" Adam Page.

I know already talked about him, but recently, Punk had to take more shots at Page, bringing down more heat on himself as he would say that at a supermarket or some shit, he found Adam Page action figures and no one wanted to buy them as if they were Stan Hansen knockoffs.

Wish I was kidding on that too because he also called Page a benchwarmer, and mocking anyone who called themselves the "Heart And Soul of AEW" like it belongs on a t-shirt.

I'm not exactly suffering from short term memory loss, but the last time I checked, Punk named Darby Allin the heart and soul of AEW during a promo exchange with MJF in his hometown of Chicago on an episode of Dynamite back in 2021, so I don't know where he came up with that idea.

Of course, Punk would apologize to Page via text, thinking it would make a bit of a difference, but from personal experience, sending an apology via text is not a good idea because, to me, you gotta be a man to apologize to someone's face than keep it all online.

As we know, Page didn't take the apology too kindly and just when things couldn't get much worse, the ship had sunk to the bottom of the fucking ocean because now we move on to Jack Perry.

To me, this took not only the cake, but the entire bakery: Perry was at Collision to film a segment with former FTW Champion Hook and wanted to use real glass for a spot, but Crooked Man Punk of all people had to say that it wasn't a good idea and tell him to sugar glass instead.

I mean, this is a fair point from Punk, even though I'm taking a bit back of what I said, and that real glass is dangerous and sugar glass is more safer, but this is CM Punk we're talking about here and for him to give Jack advice about a certain segment that's being filmed, is like selling your TV to buy the remote. It makes absolutely no sense.

I'd rather take advice from a meth addict than take any advice from someone who looks like one.

Of course, there would be a backstage argument between the two, but at AEW: All In in London, this did it for me, personally. Jack and Punk had to Brawl In and everyone had to try and break it up so Punk can do his match with Samoa Joe.

I mean, when the news broke out, that made me quit watching AEW for good.

Sure, a week or two later, Punk would be fired from the company after three years of torture. I say good for Tony Khan, even though he didn't feel safe announcing it in Chicago, for finally growing a set of balls and firing Punk after all the controversies the company had to go through with him.

From what I know, Punk is the kind of guy to say, "But what about *inserts name of wrestler*? He's done worse things than me!" I feel like Joe Biden if he were overdosing on Ketamine would make better excuses than Punk.

Now that CM Punk has been fired, no one wants to work with him and many wrestlers have been very vocal about how they don't wanna work with him, except one who I planned on doing a fanfic on sometime, and that is Zelina Vega.

Vega has said that she has claimed that Punk is "A great guy" and would want to work with him sometime if he does come back to WWE.

Obviously, now that it's been reported, I decided that my future Zelina Vega fanfic is cancelled because if one of my favorite women wrestlers supports a guy who's caused so much controversy in AEW, of course I'm not gonna do a fanfic on her.

Yes, I know, it's petty, but it's about how I feel about the whole situation, you know?

And you know what? I think I'm gonna wrap it up here, and that's for my own sanity, because I know that if I keep going on about this, I'm just gonna lose my mind.

If you guys enjoyed this, be sure to slap the vote button before your partner/spouse slaps you. Be sure to follow and it's possible I might follow you back.

I wanna say sorry if this gave anyone the cold shoulder, I just wanted to get this out of the way and try to be informative as possible and give my take on the situation rather than be biased.

With that said, there will be another chapter in some of the new books I just put out, and I'll see you guys later.

I'm out.
