Akira Fujikawa is the next head of the Fujikawa Clan, a local Yakuza group in Tokyo, Japan.  Then one day, his mother tells him that he'll be going to a village called "Hinamizawa", where he'll be meeting his future wife, Mion Sonozaki.  At first, Akira was shocked by this news, thinking that it was too soon to get married, but his mother tells him that it was decided, from the time Akira was still an infant, as both clans agreeing that their eldest children will be engaged to each other.  But unbeknownst to him, in June of 1983, his life with never be the same again.
