Okay, I'm going to make a pretty bold statement here, homophobia is okay. Hate all you want on me, but the thing is, some people just don't feel comfortable with people of the same sex get along in that sort of sense. I'm not saying that the kind of hate homophobic extremists give is okay, hurting someone and/or killing someone is not the answer ever. It's okay to have discomfort with a same-sex relationship, that's not for everyone. Just like how pepperoni pizza isn't for everyone, same-sex relationships aren't for everyone either. 

If you are homophobic, that's okay, but try talking out your differences and your viewpoints with someone of the LGBTQ+ community, be open and respect each other's viewpoints, but you don't have to change your view, just understand. One of the great philosophers (I cannot remember which one, but I believe Socrates), had made a point that you can only figure out which side of an argument is the best for you after you have questioned everything, even your own side/opinion. This, having been said, that doesn't mean you have to panic and question everything 24/7 unless you want to of course, but in a civil debate, trying to understand both sides of the debate, question everything, even your own side because you might find that your standing on a glass castle, bound to be broken, or you might be standing on a brick house, bound to be unbreakable. 

On another note, if you are dealing with a homophobic person, do not force your opinions on them, and do not hate on them. Be civil and kind just as you would with anyone else. If you are dealing with someone who is being narrow-minded or not willing to open up to civil debate, don't force it and just understand their viewpoint and move on. Whether we're homosexual or heterosexual, black or white, Catholic or Atheist, and everything in between, we're all just human, we're all just struggling together. It doesn't matter what you look like, who ya love, or what your religion is, we're all in this together.
