2- The Villain Has Arrived
WILL POV-
"Don't get in her way" Mike spat huffing one final warning before stomping off, anger visible on his face. Two boys ran over pushing people out the way sticking their middle fingers up at the passersby; they stood beside him placing a hand on his shoulder causing Will to flinch "Who are you?"
"Huh?" The boy's exchanged looks; one tall and burly, the other short and thin
"Where am I? And what are these clothes?" Will muttered confused, a lot of questions crossed his mind
"Holy shit! You must be shocked" The taller of the two boys spoke leaning an arm on him, watching Mike walk off "That Mike is such a piece of shit, taking care of that Bitch El like that"
"Right! Like she should be thankful your mum takes care of her like a stray dog but instead she has the audacity to act all pathetic at school" The shorter of the two boys spoke
"Mike?... El?" Will pondered muttering under his breath, remembering what he read on the name tag: 'Hawkins Indiana Preparatory School'.
"Hawkins? Hawkins isn't a real place?" He continued; always gifted with knowledge of the world, knowing for a fact that Hawkins isn't a town in Indiana, he searched it up many times before. He placed both hands on his face, his eyes widening "Holy Fuck! I'm hallucinating"
Instantly he began running in the distance "WILL?" The taller boy screamed confused standing still "BYERS?" the other shouted. Travelling around the school unable to find his way out, Will thought the hallways seemed as though they never ended wanting to get out the school to take a deep breath.
He took out his phone, searching for the comic, his phone was different, it wasn't even the same make and model, the screen larger and no longer has a large crack. Brushing that aside he opened Webtoon, searching to the comic 'Purple In The Night'.
Stopping at a window he saw the red bricks of the courtyard; it had white trimmings and marble statues decorating the walls that he cross-referenced with the pictures from the comic. An exact match. He gasped, running through the halls once again, walking up the stairs where the students would gather to meet Mike in the mornings; carefully he clung to the railings, struggling out of breath.
He made his way to the balcony overlooking the secret meeting spot where El and Mike would meet each other in private, away from the other students. It was secluded behind some foliage. A place only the pair know they would have their most intimate moments in the comic.
"It's exactly the same!" He scrunched his eyes, throwing his hands into the air "I know I said I wanted to get away from the bullies" Will pulled his hair "BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT I MEANT!"
Trying to rationalise everything he's just learnt, he paced around as somehow when he opened his eyes he awakened in this comic; maybe he jumped to the conclusion too quickly but the more he looked around the more familiar everything was: the characters, the sets, the scenarios; remembering what he just went through as the ending of the third chapter.
He stopped dead in his tracks "Wait... does that mean I'm the villain?" He brought his hands to his cheeks jumping up and down like a frustrated child.

Will sat in the science class debating if he was going crazy; like he couldn't explain how weird it felt being part of a comic book. It played on his mind, resting his head on the desk listening to the teacher's words become quieter fully blocking her out. They were studying genetics; something Will had already been taught about in his real science lessons in school. Admittedly his real lessons were more boring. He raised his head looking at the boys in front of him.
Troy Walsh and James Dante, the villains along with him. They would repeatedly bully El every single day for no apparent reason, all because Will said so. So, El was on top on their hit list being bullied constantly since the third grade ever since she was adopted. In the comic Will is El's evil stepbrother who would stop at nothing to keep his adopted sister miserable.
He didn't mind being in this comic book world for a while, after all he knew he was probably in some sort of short dream that would end any moment but everything felt so real, the cotton of his clothing and the wood of the table had its distinct texture. What he hated the most was being the villain hated by the main leads.
"Hey Will" Troy whispered, holding a red candy into the air throwing it into Will's direction letting it hit the brunette's desk
They are the main villains of the comic... and they were best-friends reminding him of his own bullies. The brunette looked back to his desk, watching the candy piece roll around, he laid his head down ruffling his hair, letting out a frustrated scream "NO! This can't be!"
"Get out" The teacher condescendingly smiled, pointing to the door
"Okay" Will whispered rising from his seat. Ordinarily he wouldn't have dreamed of disrupting the class or drawing attention to himself but knowing this was a comic, he held no such barriers more free to be himself.
Will poked his head through the open door observing the class. He was given a good view of the characters and seeing them side by side he just knew that he was undoubtedly teleported into this comic book.
The ravenette in the back of the class caught his eyes. Mike Wheeler was the most popular boy in school; he was cold hearted, and abrasive. Harsh to everyone except for El. But because of that he was extremely popular with the girls who want to be the one to melt his icy heart. Even though he was less than impressed by anything anyone would do he cares deeply about his friends carrying his heart on his sleeve. He is even Will's number 1 pick in the story, the one he wished was real.
His eyes casted to the boy next to him. Lucas Sinclair, the best class president of the school. He was friendly and approachable; knowledgeable on every subject, never missing a single day of high-school in all four years he's been here and amidst his senior year he only blossomed even more. Will gawked slightly blushing, knowing that Lucas used to be his crush for the first chapters.
Lucas tapped the sleeping girl next to him watching her bounce up hitting his knee. This was Max Mayfield, the only female of the group; the person Will aspired to be, she was a skater girl, with flowy red hair and baby blue eyes. She was as pretty as a picture with a heart of gold; basically, the girl version of Mike, both characters acting the same yet constantly butted heads like a bunch of 5-year-olds. She wore a tough persona making her the tomboy of people's dreams, catching the attention of girls and guys alike, yet her real crush remains a secret
"HAHA!" The curly haired boy in the front chortled, a snort escaping his nose
"Dustin! Get out!" The teacher roared from inside the class, hearing the curly haired boy chuckles get closer Will stood up straight, shuffling slightly to one side.
And finally, that's Dustin Henderson originally the second lead of the story but eventually became side-lined by the author. Now he just comes into the story as a comic relief allowing the tension to be dissolved in high pressure situations. He is a lot of fans favourite; a little too chatty for Will's taste though, but he knew Dustin would be an amazing friend if they ever properly talked liking a lot of the same things like DND and Drama.
In this preparatory school, they were the most popular kids, everyone wanted to be them or be with them. They were 'THE shit'. Will obsessed over them when reading the comic swooning over each of them wishing they were real so they could be friends. He wanted friends like that, ones who care for one another through thick or thin.
Dustin passed an unrecognisable expression standing outside sneaking some snacks out his pocket, he scoffed them down. He abruptly stopped waving a hand over the eyes of the brunette. "Umm... Did you want something?" He furrowed his brows.
"Oh, um nothing... Sorry" Will apologised not even realising he was staring, something unbelievable like this happening in front of him and he couldn't help but stare. He was in the same school as his favourite comic characters.
The bell rung allowing Will to run into the classroom, he was embarrassed from the staring even though he knew these characters weren't real he didn't want to be perceived as a creep. He stood at the back of the class, students jumped up rushing over to their friends having a casual chat. Will looked over at the group clustering Mike; seeing El sat at her seat alone
"Hello!" A voice turned Will's attention
Oh this guy! Will sighed, forgetting one important character to the story. Richie Tozier. Will hated him with every ounce of his being; a disgusting flirt who has a hard-on for any guy with a pulse, the students nicknamed him 'Trashmouth' but this in no way retracted the amount of female attention he got. Will found this weird considering Richie was written as a canonically gay character and guess who his current victim was in the story. Yep, it was Will.
"What?" Will spat
"Woah! No need to be so feisty" Richie joked
"Listen here Richie" The brunette challenged "Everyone else in this school may love you but I can't stand the sight of you... so, whatever you're planning knock it off"
Richie chuckled "You're covering my locker. I just wanted my lunch"
Will stepped aside apologising for his mistake, nervously scratching the back of his neck embarrassed from misunderstanding the situation,
Richie took out his lunch standing up to reach a hand over ruffling the smaller boy's hair. Will flinched away feeling shivers all over his body, feeling as though he was being touched by a greasy spoon. "What the hell?"
"You're just cute" Richie winked walking away to the canteen, Will stuck out his tongue scrunching his eyes.
"Where is it?" He heard a gentle, female voice panic. Looking behind seeing El shuffle through her locker, a distraught look on her face.
He knew this was El Hopper: the heroine of the story. She was pretty and smart, but mostly a loner with her only friend being Mike. She would be ruthlessly bullied by her step brother as he felt she was just a leach to his family. Will looked down at his tag again realising he was the villain tormenting her, he lowered his head turning his attention away.
"Here! Eat this" Mike walked up behind her tapping her shoulder with the lunch box neatly wrapped with a small bow. Will watched them smiling seeing his favourite characters interact in front of him filled him with joy. A thought popped in his head, knowing where the food would be recognising this from the beginning of chapter four "Oh your lunch? Isn't it in there?" he spoke pointing to the large chest of draws.
"Was this you again?" Mike spat, crossing his arms
"What! No, I swear" Will reasoned placing a hand on his chest
"Is that so?" The ravenette scoffed walking over to the chest carefully opening the door. He shuffled through pulling out a pink lunch box "Then how did you know it was here?"
"Umm..." Will stuttered, how could he tell them that he only knew from reading the comic? they would think he was crazy. He scratched the back of his neck, averting his gaze coming up with a semi-plausible answer "Umm... I saw it, by chance. Someone else did it" he awkwardly chuckled
Mike took a step closer, Will stepped back his back hitting the lockers "Don't over do it!" He threatened going back to El holding her hand leading her out the room. Will exhaled leaning against the lockers.
What was this mess he just got himself into?
