Chapter 9
~Darkstalker~
Darkstalker didn't understand. What did he do wrong? Nothing! He answered himself. Then why was everyone avoiding him? Why was everyone looking at him as if he was crazy? Even Qibli had flashes of resentment when he looked at the hybrid, with thoughts of doubt trailing after.
A small knock came on the door, interrupting his train of thought.
"Come in," Darkstalker shouted impatiently.
"GAH, STOP W-" Someone spluttered and then paused with a yelp.
A young NightWing suddenly crashed through the doors. She quickly scrambled up, her eyes fluttered quickly at Darkstalker, let out a breath of awe, and then bowed messily. "Sorry, uh, your majesty," He said, his eyes still darting up at Darkstalker from time to time.
She was a dragonet- no older than 5-ish (?) years old. The dragonet had dark ebony black scales with black midnight wings. She had curvy horns and pure, innocent eyes. She looked . . . oddly familiar. It was as if he saw her every day, actually.
Another dragonet marched into the room. He was also a NightWing- although there was something about him that didn't sit right with Darkstalker. He looked the same age as the other dragonet but gave off a more childish demeanor. "Light and Dark meets again. . ." He whispers ominously, his chilling eyes staring deep into the hybrid.
Darkstalker glanced at the two dragonets uneasily. "W..who are you?" He asks with genuine curiosity.
The first dragonet opened her mouth and speaks monotonously as if she was performing a speech she had practiced. "I'm Peacekeeper and he's- uh . . . well," She sighed and then muttered, "Futurehero."
Darkstalker's eyes twitched and stared back at Futurehero. "Futurehero?" He said judgementally.
"The creator named the title upon hero and vision." He said slowly as if trying to figure out words.
"Ah, you see, my brother has some speech problems (Aphasia)." Peacekeeper blurted quickly and then added, "T-that's actually why we're here." She continued. "We would like to ask your majesty for a job in order to get my brother treatment . . ."
Darkstalker gazed at the dragonets, completely ignoring what she said. "Have I seen you two before?" He demanded.
Peacekeeper sweated nervously. A moment of panic flashed through her eyes but her face was as calm as ever. Must've just seen things. "No, I believe I haven't seen your highness before."
"Fine. Then I allow you to be my servants." He said carelessly. Darkstalker didn't really care. He just wanted to get an answer out of these two. There was no way he was wrong. He had definitely seen those two dragonets before...
Peacekeeper's eyes glimmered happily and Futurehero grinned, elbowing his sister. "In this turn, perhaps the heart piece will crush." He whispered in her ears.
Peace quickly put a talon on Futurehero's mouth. "He- he meant about a game we were playing." She blurted quickly.
Darkstalker rolled his eyes, and waved his talons in the air, a sign to dismiss them. He smirked, "I'll get one of my best servants to help you two." He said, and then bellowed loudly. "RAINWING!"
A thin and tiny little RainWing scurried in front of Darkstalker. It was Kinkajou- Moon's friend. "W-what is it that you need . . ." She paused and then gagged behind his back. "King Darkstalker?" She was now almost as twice as pale and thin as the last time Moonwatcher had seen her. She had an odd stammer and nervous tone to her voice as if she wanted to oppose Darkstalker but was too afraid to.
"It's time to get off that stupid tree of yours. Your color themes have always been the same nowadays anyway." He growls, poking her sides harshly. "I've hired new servants and I want you to show them around and . . ." He pauses, his eyes piercing. Darkstalker twirled his talons around and did a couple of more odd actions that the siblings did not understand. "If you come back unsuccessfully," He smirks. "You know what'll happen."
Kinkajou shuddered and nodded, bowing quickly. "I-I-I'll make sure to show them around perfectly," She sputtered, her eyes watery, tears threatening to pour out at any moment.
The RainWing nodded at the two dragons, gesturing at them to follow her.
Darkstalker let out a breath of pleasure. It was so wonderful to feel the power in his talons. To know that you're the most powerful dragon in Pyrrhia and to see the fearful look on dragon's faces. Was that a twisted way of thinking? No. It wasn't. After all, everyone is a little selfish at times, right?
The NightWing-IceWing hybrid growled softly. Why was he having doubts? He was right! HE WAS ALWAYS RIGHT! He was Darkstalker! Everyone knew about him! He was all-mighty and practically worshipped. He was loved by everyone . . . at some point . . . when had it all changed? What did he do wrong?!
Why was he all alone . . . ?
(A/N: Alright, alright. YES, ORIGINALLY this was a lot longer (although I never finished it...) and a lot more interesting with not as many filler words buuutt~ school's been nagging me, webtoon's been having good comics, and procrastinating on the school projects did not help. I promise the next chapter will be better as I invest in the plot more.)
(Also, I am going on vacation for about two weeks (?) and will be back on March 8-ish. Look forward to an update then! Now, see you, fellow FanWings.)
