Chapter 5
~Third person view~
Darkstalker had tapped his talons with boredom as Qibli continued to babble on and on about ways they could free Clearsight.
He certainly wanted to see his beloved again, but it was so so boring hearing the SandWing talk about ideas. He didn't want ideas! He wanted a real solution! He was starting to wonder if he should just enchant a scroll to give him the answer. That he did. It did not work.
I cannot see the future. The smug scroll wrote by itself. Unlike you, I do not spend my precious time looking for possibilities, when I could make the possibilities a reality. I'm not stupid, hybrid. (A/N: Yes. It's a life lesson from a scroll. Be proud.)
Darkstalker snorted at the scroll and threw the whole thing into the trash with impatience. He took a deep breath to calm himself and then closed his eyes, roaming around in the future, trying to look for possibilities where Clearsight and he reunite.
There were so many happy futures that flashed by him.
But none of them was his.
He flopped onto his fancy bed and made himself comfortable, dozing to sleep. It was bright in the morning when Qibli suddenly burst into his room- without permission! "Qibli." He snapped, a little annoyed. "What are you doing here? It's bright in the morning. Let me sleep."
But unlike normally, instead of immediately rushing out of the door, he stood there with a serious and cold face. "Sorry to interrupt your sleeping time, Master." He said, bowing slightly, with impatience. "But I want to talk to you about finding Clearsight again."
Darkstalker rolled his eyes and groaned. "Qibli, I want to thank you for your enthusiasm for finding her, but right now, I'm really tired and I just want to sleep. If you would please do so, leave my room, and we'll discuss your . . . ideas later." He spat the word "idea" as if it was venomous, glancing angrily at the smug scroll he had thrown.
"No, Darkstalker, you don't understand. I don't have an idea, I have a solution." Qibli said firmly as if he had been reading Darkstalker's brain instead of the other way around.
Darkstalker immediately sprung up with fiery concentration in his eyes. "Well, what are you waiting for?" He snapped, a little harsher than he wanted to be. But his patience was slowly disappearing and he was dying to know Qibli's idea. "Speak."
"Well, I know for sure that you cannot simply bring a dead dragon back to life . . . but couldn't you time-travel, and- and enchant a spell on yourself to make yourself look young, and well, trick, Clearsight into thinking you were well . . . young you?" He suggested, carefully choosing his words.
Darkstalker's jaw dropped immediately. "That's right!" He exclaimed, face-palming himself. Why was he so stupid? "I could! Animus magic (according to WoF wiki) was not able to bring any dragons from the dead, but I could create a portal and bring the Clearsight from the past."
"Wait- Darkstalker, don't get too excited yet." He said before the hybrid could immediately cast a spell. "You must think of what would happen if you bring Clearsight from the past. Even the tiniest things could destroy the whole present world-"
"I don't care if dragons die, Qibli. This is the only chance I'm going to see Clearsight again- it's the only path! I can see it all in my brain. I want to see my beloved again. I don't care what I sacrificed. I need to see Clearsight." Darkstalker said desperately. He was almost to the point of crying, so Qibli shook his head, and nodded.
He bit his lips though, wondering if it was a good idea. He had actually thought of this idea for a long time now, but he was just so afraid that once he told Darkstalker this idea, he might just ditch Qibli and take away his animus magic. Well, he had been afraid. But now, the only thing that scared him was losing Moonwatcher. He would do anything to make her and Darkstalker, of course, proud.
Seeing Darkstalker smile with so much joy just made Qibli want to fulfill his love as well. If Darkstalker, the great and powerful dragon of the world, could look so harmless and happy, he was sure he would finally find the love and attention he wanted for years now.
Darkstalker nodded a thank-you to Qibli and immediately thought of a spell to go back in time. He looked around and grabbed a piece of gold jewelry that had been lying around. He muttered under his breath, "I enchant this necklace to bring the wearer back exactly 2006 years ago at Clearsight's house-" He paused for a second, and added another spell, "and transform the wearer of the jewelry's looks, six-year-old."
Qibli held his breath. Even though he had been gifted animus magic himself, he had never used it on big things like this.
A bright light flashed in the room, blinding Qibli for a minute, and when he finally blinked open one eye...
Darkstalker had disappeared into the past.
