Chapter One
Chapter One
Bring You Back
A frown rested upon your face as you watched the scenery before you flash. Once again you were at the end, after going through the pacifist route once more like the first time. Brushing your (H/C) hair away from your face, you sat up. You didn't hear what Sans, Toriel, Asgore, Papyrus, Alphys, or Undyne were talking about, nor did you hear what they said as you stood up and ran back, deeper into the Underground. "Gotta go see him..." you mumbled, not even bothering to talk to anyone like you did last time, you needed to find him.
Deeper and deeper you went, a smile grazing across your features as you drew closer to the ruins, where you had fought and spared Toriel. You burst through the large purple doors, gasping for air as you collapsed to the stone flooring. No. There wasn't time to rest. Shakily getting to your feet, you pressed forward in a feeble attempt to keep running. Which was really just you dragging yourself into the home of the former queen. Your fingers grazed against the walls, trying to keep yourself steady as your legs wobbled, begging for you to stop.
'You should stop you know. Your only killing yourself.' "Shut the hell up." You growled at him, not really wanting to deal with this again. Once catching your breath, you hesitated at the wooden door leading into the ruins. This was it. But we're you really ready? No going back now. Turning the golden handle, you pushed open the door, now beginning to make your way to the hole in the ground that had gotten you here in the first place. A frown tugged at your lips, recalling the memory so clear.
You were sitting outside, on the deck of your home, waiting for your brother, (B/N), you come pick you up for school. He had moved out just a few months ago, wanting to start a life of his own with his roommate, Brady. You were rather upset with him leaving, but he promised that he would always pick you up for school on his way to work. He was an awesome brother in your opinion, but he was running late. Which wasn't normal on his part, considering he was never one to procrastinate or run late in general.
Looking down at your watch, you straightened out the tank top you wore over your (F/C) and (S/F/C) striped sweater. The sweater was gift from your mother, who had moved recently as well due to divorce. Which wasn't as big of a deal as it probably should have been. But you knew that your mother and father had been drifting apart, fighting more, and didn't seem to like being around each other in general. You had taken note of this as soon as it started, and over all, simply didn't care, nor try and fix things. Because you knew that you would only make things worse.
Of course, you were an ideal daughter, perfect grades, boys falling head over heels for you, but you didn't care about this in the slightest. People thought you were a girly girl. But once they really got to know you, you were a completely different person. One that could get addicted to 'children's shows' and found scary things funny. You also liked adventure, seeking out things, and doing some stupid dares that your close friends would give you in return for something good depending on the dare. Being late to school on the other hand, wasn't your thing, guess that it just ran in the family.
Not a moment later, you spotted your brother's old blue truck, a soft chuckle escaping your lips when you noticed the fearful expression on the male's face. Once he came to a stop, you jumped into the passenger seat. "(Y/N) I am so sorry! I overslept!" "Hey, don't worry about it. As long as I don't get there late, you won't owe me." You replied, stapling the seat belt on and kicking your feet up on the dash board. With a sigh of relief, (B/N) quickly drove off, going a little last the speed limit, not that you minded, you liked it when he got worked up like this.
Thankfully he got you there early enough, so that meant he didn't owe you anything. Waving to your brother, you watched as he drove off for a second before one of your friends called you over to them. Skipping over to them, you were quickly glomped by Ally, who practically squeezed the life out of you. "(Y/N)! I got the coolest dare for you! And by far the most dangerous!" You chuckled at the brunette's hyperness. "Alright. Hit me." You replied, brushing back a few strands of your tied up (H/C) hair, but what you heard next was what made you grin. "I dare you to go on Mount Ebott!" Ally exclaimed, earning gasps from your small circle of friends.
OK, this was probably the best dare yet. You loved adventure, this included danger, and you were up to the challenge. Sure, you had heard of the tales of their being monsters living inside the mountain, your mother told you the stories since you were a tot. But you were never to go up there, not even to get close to the large rock mound. Now was your chance. "Alright. But this is going to come at a really high price you know." You said with a teasing smirk, making the bubbly girl bounce in excitement. "Don't worry! I got to it ahead of time! I know how much you like chocolate, so I've been saving my money. How does one hundred king sized Hershey milk chocolate bars sound?"
You gave in, chocolate was something you craved since you first had it. Which is why you were never allowed to have it. Not after you dyed your father's hair pink. So you began your journey up the mountain, having to skip school so you could get up to the mountain, grab what Ally said was an 'Echo Flower' and come back. Not too hard right? Boy were you wrong. You found yourself being drawn into a cave, littered with vines that bloomed with yellow flowers, that upon closer inspection, we're buttercups. Buttercups... that was a flower that you had eaten once when you were a kid, and you had to be taken to a doctor, where you had to take a foul tasting medicine.
Your mother had told you about how at one time, buttercups were extremely deadly, since no one knew how to cure the poisonous effects it had given. So you were very careful after that. But still loved the golden flower none the less, since (B/N) gave you a bunch for your birthday every year as well as a gift. Looking around and admiring the beautiful scenery, you suddenly felt the ground- wait, there was no ground. What felt like wind in your face, your mind finally came to progress what was happening. You were falling. And the last thing you saw was yellow before your vision blacked out.
...
'Wow, so we do have something in common. I would never have guessed.' You were snapped out of your thoughts at the ghost boy's voice. With a growl, you chose to ignore him, after all, he was the reason why you had to do this all again. Sighing to calm your nerves, you began to walk once again. You needed to get to Asriel, wanting to see him one last time before having to leave. Your footsteps came to a slow stop, there he was, his head hanging low as he stared down at the flowers. "Asriel..." the goat jumped slightly, turning his head towards the voice that called his name.
Although, before he could get a good look at you, you had him tackled to the ground in a tight hug. "(Y/N)?!" The prince yelped once he finally got a good look at his attacker. Managing to get in a sitting position, the boy awkwardly wrapped his arms around the female. You nuzzled your face into his chest, tears forming in your eyes. You missed this little cry baby. "Asriel?" You looked up at him, and he looked down at you curiously, "Can you tell me more about Chara?" The boy was caught off guard by the question, "Y-You want to know more about him?" Asriel sighed when you nodded. "Alright. I'll tell you as much as I know."
You listened intently to what Asriel told you. How Chara hated humanity, but he didn't know why. And about the plan they had to get six more human souls. 'Why do you want to know more about me. I killed everyone you cared about...' 'I want to know why.' 'What?' 'Why do you hate humanity?' Chara went silent. "There was also this one time where-" "Asriel? Do you still care about him? Even after he's killed you in the last time line?" The prince turned to look at you, a surprised look on his face. "Yeah, of course I still care about him. I know that he was just using you... But he was only trying to finish the plan..."
A soft chuckle escaped your lips as your head turned to the side, there he was, standing halfway in the shadows while the other half was in the light. His red eyes were locked onto your form, and instead of a wide grin of malice, there was a small frown. "Now you know. Why I convinced you to reset. Are you happy?" Chara's voice was softer, and had a mix of anger, sadness, but to your surprise, regret. You said nothing, but you felt eyes on your back, already knowing that Asriel was staring at you, "(Y/N)? What are you looking at?" "Not what, who." This made the prince confused once again.
"Chara, you know I'm not happy, but I'm not mad." The boy looked down, his bangs shielding his eyes, a smirk on his face. "Really? You sure seemed mad every time I spoke up." A sigh escaped your lips as you stood to your feet. You slowly stepped closer to him, causing a growl to bubble from his throat, "Stay away from me." "Please. Let me help you." "YOU CAN'T!!!" He screamed. This made both you, and Asriel, to jump, as the enraged human spirit finally manifested to where Asriel could see him. Chara's eyes were gone, leaving black hollow holes, black fluid slowly ran down his rosey cheeks like tears.
"You can't help me! Idiot! Why do you think you can?!" "Because I'm determined!" Chara growled at you again, red dots forming in the black holes that used to contain his eyes. "Your determination was what got you killed so many times. Countless amounts of times I've seen you fall. Soul shattering into pieces!" "But I came back every time now didn't I?!" Your (E/C) eyes pierced into his black and red ones. There was a tense silence, as the two of you had your own little stand off, "...Chara?" The two humans looked over to see Asriel on his feet, staring wide eyed at his brother.
This seemed to calm Chara down greatly, the boys eyes returning to their normal white, red irises, and black pupils, but the black tears remained. "A... Asriel..." the goat child rushed over, pulling Chara into a hug, catching the spirit off guard. But he should've figured this would happen now that he was in his physical appearance. "I know, that with my determination, and Asriel's hope... We can bring you back... Chara."
