January 2013 -London, England

Melody took a deep breath and walked into the restaurant. The hustle and bustle of people chatting and laughing as they dined ignited even more nerves in her body. She had decided to listen to her best friend Saraya and finally go on a blind date. Melody hasn't had a boyfriend ever, and the last person she slept with was Jey.

Melody placed her bag in the back of her chair as the waiter pulled it out for her to sit down and handed her a menu. The brunette looked around and tried to see if she could spot the man that she would be eating with but she don't see anyone.

Melody didn't know how long she was there but a few tables had eaten and left. She took another sip of her red wine before a human hurriedly came and sat in front her.

"I'm so sorry to keep you waiting, work ran over. I'm Daniel." The man said. He looked up and smiled at Melody who had a small smile on her own face.

"I thought I was being stood up." Melody joked.

"I'm not that type of guy." He answered and Melody nodded. Daniel smiled at the waiter who poured him a glass of the red wine and took their order. Daniel was flapping a little and Melody kind of found it cute.

"So what kind of guy are you?" She asked.

"Well, I'm a trauma surgeon, hence the reason I'm a little late." Daniel said and Melody's eyebrows raised lightly. "We had a GSW come in and it was on a little boy. I couldn't just walk out without saving him."

"So you're a hero?" Melody said with a smirk and Daniel grinned.

"Pretty much, but I don't always manage to save them." Daniel said. Melody took another sip of her wine and could feel herself getting a buzz. "What about you?"

"Well, I'm planning on moving home soon, so uh.. to be honest I've only done this date because my friend insisted." Melody said with a small smile.

"Where's home?" Daniel asked. The waiter brought the food over and they began to eat.

"So I am originally from here in London but when I was 4 we moved to San Francisco, California." Melody explained and the surprised look on Daniel's face was sort of a positive one. "What's that look for?"

"Well, I got offered an attending job over in California." Daniel said and Melody paused what she was doing. "So, if anything did happen from this," Melody could feel her smile growing. She definitely felt s connection between her and Daniel. His eye contact was amazing and he wasn't bad to look at. "We might be able to pick this up in Cali." Melody laughed before digging into her steak. "So how come you left San Fran?"

Melody could feel her heart clench at the reason and wasn't sure she was ready to tell him the drama between her parents.

"My parents divorced and my mother wanted to come back here and I had to come with her." Melody said and Daniel nodded.

"Are you still in contact with your friends from over there?" Daniel asked and she shook her head. The sadness that took over Melody didn't go unnoticed by Daniel.

"Someone special?" He questioned.

"I had this friend, his name was Jey." Melody started. "Well, when I left I think we were more than friends."

"You think?" Daniel asked.

"Well, a few days before I left we had uh.. we actually slept together." Melody said and Daniel nodded. She realised how uncomfortable Daniel seemed to be so she had made up the rest in her head. "We both just wanted to lose our virginity and just decided that was our best shot. So we did it."

September 2013 -San Fransisco, California

Christina and Jey lay beside each other in bed as Jey was on his phone texting. Chrissy let out a sigh before getting up and putting her clothes on.

"Where you going?" Jey asked. Chrissy rolled her eyes before looking at Jey. The man had a confused look on his face as Christina sat on the edge of the bed.

"I'm going home." She said. "Look it's been fun man, we have some great sex but.." Chrissy shrugged her shoulders gently. "I've met someone.. and I'm ready to pursue it more seriously." She said and Jey raised his eyebrows.

"Oh, whats the lucky guys name?"

"Her name is Rhea." Chrissy said with a smirk. The look of surprise on Jeys face caused her to laugh. "She makes me really happy."

"Well damn girl, I'm happy for you. Looks like I need to find a new fuck buddy." He said with a smile before sitting up straight in bed. Christina smiled lightly before tapping him gently on his calf.

"Or you could try and maybe find someone to live the rest of your life with?" Christina suggested and Jey rolled his eyes. "Come off it Jey, I know you had your heart broken when you were 15 but you're 28 now. Surely you're over it?"

"I could never be over her.. she'll always have a special place in my heart but-"

"No buts. Get your shit together motherfucker." Christina said before standing up and putting her shoes on before leaving his house.

September 2020 -London, England

Melody was packing her bags getting ready to move back home. She had wanted to move back in 2013 but things got so serious between her and Daniel that she didn't want to just up and leave. And she's glad she didn't because she eventually got married to Daniel in 2017. The only reason it was finally happening now is because it was her fathers funeral. Daniel finally accepted the offer from the hospital and Melody would be able to finally start her business.

Daniel came into the living room and wrapped his arms around his wife. Melody smiled and melted into his touch before he planting a small gentle kiss on her cheek.

"To rest of our lives darling." Daniel whispered and Melody giggled before turning around to face him, placing her lips on his.

"To the rest of our lives."
