'Wow, Mamma! This is amazing.' Zara jumped excitedly after Eifad had shown her the painting she had made so pain sticking made last night. Aisha is also impressed.

Eifad felt her chest swell with pride when her little girl adorned the gift she made for her.

'Liked it?' Eifad smiled ruffling her daughter's curly hair. Zara looked at her mother with big eyes and nodded her head rapidly. Eifad kneeled in front of her and the two hugged. Though Eifad isn't fan of clicking photos, she didn't protest when Aisha suggested they click photos with the portrait.

They clicked a couple of photos and after that Eifad announced they have dinner.

After dinner, Eifad sat beside Zara who lay tugged in under her duvet. Her eyes closed and her breathing even. Eifad patted her hair putting her to sleep.

You know why?

Farhan's word echoed in her head, why did he say that? What did he mean by that? Is she missing something? All these thoughts clouded her head. She then recollected the glint in his eyes. It is something she is noticing from quiet a long time, but she knew it had been always there.

She recollected the first time she had gazed into his chocolate brown eyes. It was there then as well.

Eifad sighed and stood up, she then noticed her mother standing at the door.

'What were you thinking?' Aisha asked as Eifad walked out of the room.

'Nothing, Ma! Work.' she said walking towards her room. Aisha stood still for a while before walking up to her, 'You had gone to meet Farhan, are you thinking of him?'

'Ma!' Aisha stopped abruptly as Eifad shot her a stern look, 'I had gone to check on the Rehab and not meet anyone. It was strictly professional.' Eifad turned around and was about to enter her room when Aisha mustered courage and said, 'But he loves you, give him a chance.'

Eifad held the door tightly and glared at her mother. She felt angry, very angry.

'You have said this now, Ma. Don't - ever - say - it - again.' she warned her mother and shut the door. Aisha sighed in defeat and dejected she walked towards her room.

Eifad kicked the edge of the bed and then winced sitting on the bed massaging her toe.

'F***' she cursed squeezing her eyes tight. Since a very long time, her mother has been throwing hints at her about Farhan and about giving him a chance. But tonight is the first time she has said it directly. Eifad isn't liking this audacity.

She fell on her bed and pulled her duvet till her chin. Her mother's words and the glint in Farhan's eyes flashed before her eyes.

Subconsciously, her fingers touched her pendant. Tear clogged her eyes recollecting that night when she had been waiting in a Dhabba type restaurant and he had come.

Eifad sat up on her bed and opened the bottom drawer of her bedside table. There is a small red velvet box. She took it out and opened it. She admired the little piece of paper.

It is written in his handwriting.

Everything flashed back before Eifad's eyes like it was yesterday. She and Shad sitting at the restaurant. He had made her wear the necklace and it has never been off her ever since. Eifad closed the box and threw it back in the drawer.

Eifad grabbed a pillow and buried her face into it, letting out a muffled cry. Love isn't for her. Not a lover's love for sure. The boy she trusted a lot scarred her for life, the man she loves, loves someone else and is now happily married. Then there is another man, who supposedly loves her but she doesn't, and she can't ruin his life by tying him in a loveless relationship that too with a scarred woman. Relationship? Love? she doesn't deserve it. She can't handle it.

Eifad had a troubled sleep that night, like most of her nights.
