Eifad put her leg out the car but then retreated, deciding otherwise. She took out her phone and dialed Farhan's number. He picked up her call within few rings itself.

Farhan: Hello, Eifad. (Brightly)

Eifad: I am waiting for you downstairs, we must be in police station in half an hour

Farhan: Okay, give me ten minutes.

Eifad waited patiently in the car, her fingers tapping the steering wheel. In exact ten minutes, Farhan came out from the building dressed in a lime yellow shirt and black trousers. Eifad found the colour weird for a man, but then he is Farhan and everything looks good on him. For the first time, Eifad didn't look away, in fact, she watched him walk towards her folding his sleeves. As he neared the car, he flashed a smile. Eifad smiled back. She wondered why she was feeling awkward when he is so cool, like always and from his behaviour it feels like they hadn't shared a kiss last night. For a crazy second, Eifad wondered if they had actually kissed or was she dreaming?

'Hey!' Farhan said opening the door to the passenger seat.

'Hey!' Eifad tried to not sound awkward.

'All good.' Farhan smiled. Eifad fumbled with the car keys wondering if he read her mind. She forced a smile and nodded. Before he could say anything more, Eifad began talking about Ravi's call and filled in the details as she drove to the police station.

Eifad is made to sit in the main area while Farhan is taken in towards the lockup. Eifad kept waiting while fidgeting with her nails glancing repeatedly where Farhan was taken in. She had insisted that she will go inside with him but Ravi was serious when he said only Farhan can come. Since then, Eifad is sitting feeling anxious.

After what seemed like an eternity, Farhan came with Ravi and two other constables. Eifad stood up and rushed towards them.

'What happened, Inspector?' Eifad asked nervously glancing from Ravi to Farhan. Ravi gestured her and Farhan to take their seat.

Once seated Ravi informed Eifad that among five suspects they had nabbed, Farhan has identified one as the shooter. Since he had seen only half his face, he took more time to confirm. Eifad looked at Farhan, a smile on her face. He smiled back. After Ravi assured them, they will soon solve the case and put Gaurav behind bars, Eifad and Farhan left the police station happily.

Farhan insisted they go to Star Bucks outlet to celebrate their victory. Eifad couldn't refuse. They walked into the outlet and looked around for a seat. Farhan spotted a seat and led Eifad towards it. Eifad smiled when Farhan didn't bother pulling a chair for her, instead, he sat first. Just like how Eifad liked. She sat opposite him across the table.

As they read their menu, Eifad peeped from behind her menu looking at Farhan. She is wondering why is he behaving so coolly like nothing happened last night between them. Once, Farhan looked up and Eifad pretended to look back into her menu.

Soon, a waiter came, took their order and walked away. After he was gone, Eifad began looking around fidgeting with her palms. Farhan smiled at her.

'Eifad!' she looked at him.

Farhan leaned forward and looked at her seriously, 'So, what have you decided?' he asked.

'About?' Eifad fumbled with the salt stand. She knew very well what he meant but pretended to not know.

'About us?' he asked

Eifad looked up at him, he held her gaze with confidence. Eifad kept looking at him, he looked back with hopeful eyes.

After a while, Eifad shifted in her seat looking away, she then looked at him.

'Farhan....'she began uncertainly.

He smiled, 'wait I will make it easy for you.' he said. Eifad watched him dig his hand into his pocket and take out a red box.

He opened it, Eifad saw a bright red ruby and silver ring. She felt speechless.

'I love you, Eifad and I want to marry you. And if your answer is yes, wear this, take your time. And if your answer is no, give it back to me.' he said forwarding the box.

Eifad picked it up and admired it closely.

'Beautiful.' She complimented looking up at Farhan. He smiled at her.

'It was my grandmother's, who gave it to my mother who gave it to me saying to give it to the woman whom I love and want to marry.' He said with pride. Eifad smiled looking back at the ring.

'Since she gave me, this is the first time I am giving it to someone.' He said. Eifad felt special and very, very loved. She felt her eyes moist, it is so unlike her to get emotional like this. But she can't help it.

Farhan extended his hand and placed his palm over hers, she looked up at him.

'There is no hurry, take your time and decide wisely. Before you decide, just remember that I love you and will always love you.' he said.

Eifad nodded. She is overwhelmed with emotions. No one has made her feel this special before, yet she is having a strange insecurity, an irrational fear. The waiter came and placed their respective orders on their sides. Farhan began talking random stuff while Eifad listened clenching the box tightly in her palm.

Later that night, Eifad stood in front of the mirror dressed in her night suit. She bit her lower-lip as she caressed her pendant. Aisha's and Farhan's word echoing in her head. What is she waiting for? Shad? Is he the one because of whom she can't move on? What Aisha said was true, Shad is happily married and has kids. He is probably not even thinking about her. Whereas Farhan is madly in love with her despite knowing her truth and past.

Eifad moved her hand behind her neck and unhooked the chain. She stared at it. Ever since, two years ago, Shad had made her wear this, this was never off her. She noticed the mark it has left. She touched it, a sad look on her face.

'Time to move on, Eifad.' She said to herself and opened the top drawer. She dropped it inside and closed it.

Eifad opened the red box and a ruby ring stared at her.

It was my grandmother's, who gave it to my mother who gave it to me saying to give it to the women whom I love her and want to marry.

Since she gave me, this is the first time I am giving it to someone.

I love you, Eifad and I want to marry you

Eifad recollected his words and plucked out the ring from the box. She admired it before sliding it in her ring finger. It is little loose and so, she fixed it by tying a small thread around it. Eifad smiled, strangely she is feeling good. She felt like she has been reborn.

Eifad lay on her side, bringing her left hand near her face, she wriggled her fingers looking at the ruby ring glistening on the ring finger. A small smile appeared on her lips and staring at it, she fell asleep.
