Bonus Chapter:| Happy Friendship Day

Eifad and Shad One shot. This is one shot of them when they were teens. This is before Eifad's darkest incident.

*********************************************************

Eifad isn't liking the stupid Radio Jockey talking on the radio, his voice just sounded like noise to her. But she didn't say anything as her father is with her too. He sat on the passenger seat while their driver Ramu took them to Eifad's school. She will be dropped there and then they will head for hospital.

Eifad is someone who never misses school, she loves to study but today is an exception. Today a fourteen-year-old Eifad is dreading school. Today is friendship day.

Eifad hates friendships day too. What is the point? Isn't your friend, your friend on other days? Then why this special day to acknowledge them? Shouldn't they be important all days, months and years? Eifad finds the concept of friendship day stupid and pointless. Waste of one day.

The second reason she hates friendship day because of the noisy people, she hates people in general, especially more on friendship day.

The only best part of the day is Shad pampering her. Though he has many friends, for Eifad Shad is her only friend.

'Good bye, sweetie. Be a good girl and have fun.' Her father waved her off from inside the car.

'Bye Dad.' Eifad said dryly, she forced a smile too. A simple act of smiling also is a huge task for the girl.

Adjusting her sling bag over her shoulder she walked through the gates into the school.

As expected, the school seemed buzzed with students, they seemed sprightlier and excited than usual. Usually, the atmosphere is dull and quiet just like how Eifad likes it. Eifad ignored the weird gazes of her classmate as she sat on the first bench, alone.

'How many friendship bands you think she will get.' Eifad heard a girl murmur behind her

'One, if Shad is still insane enough to give her one.' The other said and the two girls giggled. Eifad could feel their gaze on her back but she chose to ignore it.

At first, it had mattered to her, what people think of her, and why no one could understand her. But now she has overcome everything, she is used it to the treatment now. There is only one person in this whole world who makes her feel special. A natural smile appeared on her lips when she saw Shad enter the classroom.

Unlike Eifad, Shad seemed to be in full fun mood. Even in the usual white shirt, navy blue trousers and tie he looked cute, Eifad thought. He had his bag sling hung on his right shoulder and is surrounded by few boys. Eifad doesn't like him being with other boys but over time she has taught herself to adjust to that after all Shad gives more attention to her than those boys, and that's all she needs. Shad's attention.

'Hey, Eifu. Why are you sitting alone? Come sit at the back.' Shad said with his charming dimpled smile.

Eifad shook her head looking away.

'Hey, Shad, man. Come sit with us.'

'Yeah, why sit with that weirdo.'

Eifad clenched the sling of her bag tightly. As she stared at her bag she became anxious thinking of Shad's answer. Always he chooses to sit with her no matter what other say, but every time Eifad feels insecure.

'Nah, man. I will sit with Eifu.' Shad said happily.

Eifad is relieved as she felt him sit beside her, she could hear more murmurs but she doesn't care. Shad is with her, that's all that matters.

Eifad looked at him when he nudged her arm, 'Eifu, Happy friendship day.' He whispered

'Stop being so childish, Shad. Friendship days are for losers.' She said and Shad's smile dropped

'Friendship day is for the ones who actually have friends.' Eifad stiffened on hearing the girl behind her speak.

'So? Eifad has a friend, Asha. Me.' Shad pointed his index finger at himself and said with pride. Eifad is touched knowing he never fails to take her side

'And one true friend is more important than thousand fake ones.' Shad continued wrapping his arm protectively around Eifad. She felt her heart flutter and quickly looked away.

During Lunch time as Eifad silently ate her lunch she could hear roars of laughter. Today everyone is exceptionally loud than usual. Eifad tried blocking all the noises. The girls behind, Asha included were more bothered counting number of friendship bands than eating their food. Many are gloating while some are sulking over the friendship bands.

'The day isn't over yet, you will see my wrist will be completely covered.' Eifad heard Asha speak.

'Don't worry, we all will get more friendship bands than that psycho anyway.' They all then burst into laughter.

Eifad clenched her spoon tightly, she relaxed recollecting Shad's words: And one true friend is more important than thousand fake ones

Eifad looked around, her eyes searching for Shad. Few seconds of contemplating she decided to check on him. As she stood up, Shad walked in with his boy gang. Eifad noted he is left wrist is completing filled with friendship bands. Eifad felt jealous watching him happy with his other friends. He looked at her and soon as their gaze met, Eifad looked away. Shad guessed she is angry.

'Hey, Eifu.' Shad sat beside her.

'Get lost.' She said not looking at him.

'Okay, then you don't want to see what I have gotten for you.' He said simply. Eifad looked at him curiously and Shad mentally smirked. Eifad felt very curious but her ego didn't let her ask him. Shad kept tapping his fingers, watching her from the corner of his eyes. He is loving her reaction, the dilemma.

'Must be something stupid.' Eifad shrugged trying to be cool. Shad smirked but doesn't reply. Eifad glared at him.

'Fine...what is it.' She said through gritted teeth. Shad smiled and dug his palm into his trouser pocket and fished out a very beautiful friendship band.

'Everyone made me wear these bands, but I assure you, I haven't given any to them.' He shifted little and wrapped his arm around Eifad's shoulder. Eifad looked at his arm briefly before looking back at him.

Eifad watched him as he tied the band around her. Shad's ways are strange, he always flatters her and makes her feel special. Around him, Eifad feels like any normal teenager.

She has now accepted that she has slowly begun to feel something special for him. Eifad smiled looking away. There is no one else but him who she needs.

'I know you haven't got any bands, so,' he fished out another band and handed it to her. Eifad smiled at him. He forwarded his right wrist to her, here it be will only her band, exclusively. Eifad was all smiles as she tied him the friendship band.

'Happy friendship day, Eifu.' Shad hugged her. Eifad smiled and slowly wrapped her arms around him. She felt her eyes moist and very special to have an understanding friend like Shad.
