"I promise to be your hero"

"Wait- what's wrong? Sorry for what?" Izuku worried, as he started to get concerned, but Shoto only shook his head. He knew he had messed up, but all that mattered now was protecting the boy he knew he loved, and loved him back. "Shoto? You're worrying me..." Izuku claimed, sitting up and cuffing the other boys cheeks.

Tears started to stream down Shoto's pale face, as he watched Izuku act so sympathetic towards him. "I c-can't.." he whimpered and shook his head.

Izuku's eyes widened as he watched the boy he loved break down right in front of him. It strange for him to hear that Shoto was keeping something from him, but then again he wasn't exactly an open book either.

Izuku's expression softened when he finally realized he had to get out of his head and be there for Shoto. He sat in his lap and wrapped his legs around his waist. "You can tell me anything," he whispered, wiping the boys tears with his thumb.

Shoto took a deep breath as he started to calm down. He had always intended to protect Izuku, but never meant for him to find out. It was the guilt that he carried that made him open up like so.

"Izuku..I promise to protect you," he uttered firmly, "I-I promise to be your hero."

Shoto rested his head on the nook of Izuku's shoulder, his breathing began to regulate and he closed his eyes feeling emotionally drained.

It was a lot in one day to handle, Shoto never had anyone to talk to, much less care for him. Meeting Izuku gave him hope, only to lose it again. But now that they've reunited, Shoto's wasn't the only person living in his world. He found his meaning, to protect, to love.

"I love you too.." he whispered, as he held Izuku tightly. The boy only smiled and rubbed Shoto's back until he drifted off to sleep.

...

After a long while Izuku slipped out of Shoto's arms, and made sure he laid back comfortably. "What's going on Shoto?" He mumbled, as he tiptoed out of the bedroom.

Izuku looked at the time before realizing it was past midnight. He mumbled something to himself, which was a habit of his, and began looking for something in his bag. Finally he pulled out a notebook and pencil, and began writing to himself.

...

The sun rose and a new day had begun. Shoto's alarm began blaring in his ear reminding him it was time to deal with a new set of problems that came with the day. He got up and rubbed his tired eyes before realizing Izuku was gone. A wave of panic had hit him as he called out his name. "Izuku?" His groggy voice yearned.

Shoto quickly jumped out of his bed in search for the missing boy, only to find him slouched over the table with a pencil in hand. "What were you doing?" He wondered, crouching to see him more clearly.

The boy was soundly asleep, drooling over what seemed like a notebook. "Izuku?.." he whispered softly, as he lightly tapped his shoulder. His eyes slowly cracked open allowing himself to adjust to the light. "Hmm?" He mumbled not bothering to move.

Shoto stared at Izuku sure that he probably didn't remember yesterday, which was for the best. "It's time to get up," he gently told him, tapping him again.

Izuku groaned finally waking up, and exposing the marks he had on his face from the way he slept. "It's to early for this," he muttered, as he got up and hugged Shoto, which was something he did first thing now that he started to sleep over.

"Good morning," he muttered, lifting his head and puckering his lips. Shoto smiled and placed kiss on Izuku's soft lips. "Good morning," he mumbled back into the kiss. The two boys got ready for the day, and helped each other get dressed.

"Why are you so handsome?" Izuku blatantly stated, as he fixed Shoto's tie. He knew that Shoto wasn't going to tell him what was going on, but he needed him to at least know he'd be by his side through it all.

Blush sticked to Shoto's cheeks and the tip of his ears, as he heard Izuku compliment him. It wasn't that he was never complimented, he was the son of Endeavor after all, it was simply the fact that it was from someone he truly cared about.

"W-we should get going," he advised, turning his head so he didn't have to face Izuku. "Aw..alright," Izuku whined, as they grabbed their bags and walked to class.

...

"I'm hungry Sho," Izuku complained as they walked. "Well maybe if someone didn't take so long getting up, we'd have time to eat," he teased, in a soft tone.

"Hmpt-" Izuku pouted as he crossed his arms, which only caused Shoto to laugh at his reaction. 'Cute' He thought to himself, edging his hand toward Izuku's, until their fingertips brushed ever so slightly. He knew they had to be careful in public, especially now, but that didn't stop him from sliding his hand into his, and grasping it firmly until they got to class.

Like normal they sat in their seats, watching the clock, counting every Tick that went by. The lecture consisted of the normal, not paying attention and getting called out on it.

"Midoriya and Todoroki, can you at least act like you're paying attention, instead of zoning out?" Mr Aizawa sighed, as he continued his announcement. "Anyway, we're going to visiting a wilderness camp, they're you'll be get in touch with nature and relax before you're upcoming exams."

Students clapped and cheered in relief, then filled the room with chatter. 'A wilderness camp? What a great way to start the year!' Izuku thought to himself, looking back at Shoto to see his reaction.

Beads of sweat started to form on Shoto's forehead, as he watched his teacher give the details about the trip. "Shoto-" Yaoyorozu whispered next to him. "Relax.." she soothed, also knowing something she wished she hadn't, but they both knew there was no going back.

"Alright, you'll be having the rest of the day off, to pack and prepare. I'll see you all bright and early tomorrow, oh- and don't make me wait." He added, ending class.

Everyone broke off into their own little groups, and began planning. "M-Midoriya!" Uraraka and Iida called out on unison. "It's feels like we haven't talked in forever!" Uraraka commented, scratching the back of her head.

"O-oh hi guys," Izuku greeted as they both walked up to his desk. "Yeah, I guess it has been a long time," he admitted, but deep down he wished this conversation was over. "Are excited about the trip Midoriya?" Iida politely asked, as he adjusted the frames on his face.

"Yeah, in fact I'm so excited, I should probably start packing!" He cheered as he gathered his stuff and bolted out the classroom.

Shoto watched as Izuku ran out of the classroom, and went after him not so soon after. It wasn't that he completely lost him, that he started to panic.

He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Izuku's number in hopes to contact him. "Hello?" He panted, probably from running away. "Where did you go?" Shoto asked, as he tried to stay calm. "I'll explain later, okay? Love you!" He quickly answered before hanging up.

"It okay..everything's gonna be okay."
