10 Years Ago: The Boys

"Reggie?" Noah whispered into the darkness of my room.

I shot up in bed, startled to see him hovering in the doorway, his tall frame silhouetted by the nightlight in the hall. He was shirtless, wearing only a pair of sweatpants.

"Noah?" I whispered back.

"Yeah, it's me."

"What are you doing?" I pushed my hair out of my face, groggy and irritated my sleep had gotten interrupted.

"You were talking in your sleep."

"What?"

"I just wanted to see if you were okay."

"I was," I huffed. Now I'm awake."

"Sorry," he muttered and turned to walk away.

"Wait!"

He stopped with his hand on the door frame. "What?"

"Come in here."

He very quietly shut the door behind him, stumbling toward my bed in the dark until he ran into it and fell. I giggled and flipped on the lamp on my nightstand, both of us cursing at the brightness. I turned the switch twice to dim it down.

"What are you doing up?" I asked him as he slid under the covers with me and pulled me up against him.

"I told you, I heard you talking in your sleep. You were saying my name."

"I was not!"

He laughed and nuzzled my ear with his nose before lightly nipping it with his teeth. "Um, okay. How would you know? You were asleep."

I pressed my back into his front, relaxing against his warmth. His fingers slipped beneath my t-shirt, slowly pushing it up my legs. My heart immediately sped up as his touch traced up my hip. "Was I saying anything else?"

"Just my name. Over and over again." His hand flattened on my stomach to press me against him.

"And you heard me all the way down the hall?"

"I was already awake, couldn't sleep. And your door was open."

Placing my hand over his, I could feel my cheeks turn red and was glad my back was to him. "I left it open for you."

He propped his head up on his hand so he could look down at me. "Guess it's a good thing I couldn't sleep then."

"Why couldn't you?"

Noah sighed and started drawing circles on my stomach with the tip of his finger. I didn't think he even realized he was doing it.

"Lots of stuff on my mind. I'm leaving in a couple of days and then I'll be at college even though I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Wishing I could go with you because the only thing I am sure about is needing to be wherever you are."

"Then come with me," I whispered. My heart beat rapidly at the thought of him going with me to Texas. I had chosen the school because it was one of the furthest from Maine and probably the biggest cultural shift. It terrified me yet thrilled me to know I'd be so far away. Except, now that I had established different levels of relationships with the boys, going that far away was saddening me.

"Okay," he answered simply.

Snorting, I shook my head. "Sure, like it's that easy."

"Why can't it be?"

I flopped over onto my back so I could see if he was serious. He was. "You'd do that for me so easily? Just 'okay, I'll go?"

He grinned down at me and nodded. "I can defer my enrollment or just go to your school and start in the winter."

"Noah, this is really serious." Now I was hesitating about my request. It was just random hope that I had voiced never expecting him actually to put his life on hold for me.

As he looked down at me, his grin faded. "I'm serious about you, Reggie. I want a life with you and I don't care that we're young and people will think we're crazy. I've never been so sure about anything. Ever."

"There's no way your parents are going to be okay with you blowing off college."

"They aren't here. Besides, neither one of them went to college. Me waiting a year isn't that big of a deal."

"Are you really staying here? I mean it, Noah, don't say yes if you aren't completely and totally sure."

He answered me with a kiss, slow and soft. "I'm not leaving you. I love you. Where you go, I go." He kissed me again, his smile returning as I started to smile, beside myself with happiness. "Even if that means I have to follow you to some tiny ass liberal arts school and share a shitty apartment while we struggle to get our degrees and then end up with our dream jobs so I can marry you and buy you everything you've ever wanted."

"All I want is you, Noah." I laughed, giddy with hope for our future. "But I am going to want a gigantic wedding. Like ridiculously huge."

"Anything you want."

"Stay with me tonight?"

He glanced at the door and I knew where his thoughts were.

"Riley's a heavy sleeper. We'll be quiet." I whispered, looping my arm around his neck to pull him closer. He was holding his breath.

"I don't think that's his concern," someone spoke out of the darkness.

Joshua and Mal stepped into my room, both half-naked in sweatpants like Noah. Mal didn't take his eyes off me as he shut the door and followed Joshua to the bed. My sleep shirt was hiked up to my waist, my lacy white panties barely covering me, and he was staring so hard I could practically feel his eyes on me.

Biting my lip, I looked back to Noah. "What's going on?"

Joshua sat on the edge of the bed, gently brushed my hair from my forehead, and winked. "Noah told us you want him to be your first. But Mal and I felt left out, so we decided to crash the party."

My brow furrowed in confusion. "Noah?"

He smiled and gave me a soft kiss. "It's okay, beautiful. I'm still the main participant. They promised to just watch."

Mal snorted. "I never agreed to that."

"All three of you?" My mind was spinning. What I thought would be a quiet, intimate moment for Noah and I was turning into a lot more than I might be ready for. "I -"

It was Mal who spoke up to soothe my nerves. "I'm just being an asshole, baby. We won't do anything you don't ask us to do. This is a special moment for you, and we all wanted to be here to support you. To love you."

Soft words from gruff Mal were all I needed to realize this was going to be okay. I reached out a hand to him and pulled him to the bed. "I trust you." My eyes swept over Noah and Joshua. "All of you."

"You're sure?" Noah held my gaze.

"Yes, Noah. I want you."

"I love you, Reggie."

I was yanked from the bed, Mal swiftly pulling off my shirt and throwing it somewhere on the floor. His lips covered mine, kissing me fiercely, teeth nibbling on my bottom lip as his large hands found my breasts. Moaning into his mouth and arching into his hands, my fingers dug into his shoulders, nails scratching and earning me a few contented noises from him.

Someone was behind me, moving my hair over my shoulder so they could place kisses along my neck. Their fingers lightly brushed down my spine, such a different sensation from Mal's rough handling of me that I shivered. I knew it was Joshua when I heard the soft murmur of words against my shoulder.

Their hands were all over me, soft and hard, light and demanding. Someone pulled my panties off, fingers stroking me so perfectly. I felt their lips all over me, soft nips of teeth and groans in my ear telling me how beautiful I was, how perfect I was. Hands were on my hips, pulling me back, pressing me forward, turning me in their embrace. I was lost in the sensations. My eyes had drifted closed, and my head was thrown back against a shoulder. I no longer knew who was in front or behind me. I didn't care.

"Reggie, look at me," Noah quietly ordered. When I opened my eyes, he stood next to us, holding his hand out to me. "Come here," he said.

Mal and Joshua stepped away as I was pulled into Noah's arms. He kissed me softly but insistently, like he was barely keeping it together and didn't want to scare me. I looped my arms around his neck and leaned my naked body against him.

"Noah, I need you."

"Lie on the bed." He motioned to where Mal and Joshua were reclining on my bed, backs against my headboard. They each held a hand out to me, eyes traveling up and down my body while I kneeled on the bed before them. Mal pulled a little harder on my hand, causing me to fall forward but he caught and twisted me so my back was supported against their fronts.

Their hands were back on me in seconds, cupping and caressing in the most delicious ways. Noah stood at the end of the bed, his eyes locked with mine and he shoved down his sweatpants and kicked them from his feet.

He gave me no time to appreciate how spectacular he was. In one fluid motion, his body was covering mine, kissing and licking me wherever there weren't someone's hands on me until his mouth found its way between my legs. I was left in a shuddering, quivering mess as my orgasm whipped through me, Joshua and Mal supporting me as my body went limp against them.

Noah hooked his arms around my thighs and yanked me down the bed so my head was resting in Joshua's lap right next to his obvious erection. I sucked on my bottom lip, thinking how great it was going to be to have him next.

The heat from Noah's body was scorching as he kissed me, his skin damp with sweat as I wrapped myself around him. We had never been completely naked together and the feeling of him against me was like nothing I could have ever imagined. I trembled as his hands slid over my body, caressing and stroking and making me beg him for even more.

"Noah, please," I whimpered, arching toward him. "I'm ready."

His hand was shaking as he reached for the condom. "I want this to be perfect for you."

"It is. You are. I love you." I was babbling as he opened the packet and slid on the condom with shaking hands. When he positioned himself at my entrance, I rubbed against him, urging him to go on.

"I don't want to hurt you."

"You won't - just go slow."

It hurt at first, and it took me a while to adjust, but Noah went slow, gritting his teeth as sweat beaded on his forehead. He kept telling me over and over again he loved me until I began to relax around him. Someone's thumb swirled over my clit, and then it began to feel amazing. Our bodies started moving together, syncing into a steady pattern, as my hands clung to his shoulders while he held himself above me. He gazed down at me, holding eye contact until I completely lost myself in the pleasure, throwing my head back and gasping out his name.

He bent his elbows to bring his face down to mine and captured my mouth in a hard kiss to muffle my cries, which got louder as his hips moved faster. There was no space left between us as he wrapped his arms around me and shuddered with his release.

We stayed entangled for a long time, Noah planting kisses along my jaw and throat, murmuring in my ear, asking if I was okay.

"Yes," I whispered, wiping his hair from his eyes as he looked down at me. "I'm fine. Better than fine."

"You're amazing, Reggie."

"So are you."

"You're sure you're okay? I didn't hurt you?"

I gave him another kiss and smiled. "You didn't hurt me. It was perfect."

"You're perfect," Joshua praised. I had almost forgotten the other two were there I had gotten so lost in Noah.

"Such a good girl," Mal murmured into my hair.

"I'll be right back, beautiful." Noah withdrew and rolled away from me, reaching for his sweatpants on the floor. As he walked toward the Jack and Jill bathroom Riley and I shared, he threw a wink over his shoulder. I blew him a kiss as he disappeared inside and shut the door behind him, the light flipping on and the water running.

"You need anything?" Joshua asked, not hiding his discomfort as he adjusted himself in his sleep pants.

Mal grumbled from behind me. "I know what I need."

"Some water would be fantastic. Maybe snacks," I giggled. "I think we're in for a long night."

Without another word, they both left my side and went downstairs to retrieve the requested items.

I waited, a stupid smile stuck to my face as I stretched, reaching my arms above my head. I felt good. Different. And I liked it. I wanted to do it again and then I started thinking about what he said about us living together. We could have sex whenever we wanted and not have to worry about getting caught or being quiet. Christ. If he did it like that every time, I would struggle with keeping the noise level down.

The air conditioning cut on, the cold draft causing me to shiver as it hit my sweat-dampened skin. Just as I pulled the sheet over me, Noah exited the bathroom, wearing his sweatpants low on his hips. I bit my lip at the sight of him.

"You're so hot."

He ran a hand through his hair and kneeled on the end of my bed, tugging the sheet from my grip and slowly sliding it down my body. I let my hands fall on either side of my head, my breaths deepening in anticipation. He stopped when he bared me to my waist and crawled his way back on top of me, supporting himself on his elbows, hips resting between my thighs. He was serious as he gazed down at me, tucking my hair behind my ear.

"If you keep looking at me like that, I'm going to have to have you again."

"I won't stop you. But I think the other two deserve a chance, too."

His eyes were so sincere as he continued studying me. "I'm in this forever with you, Reggie."

"Me too. Forever."

He leaned down to kiss me -

"What the fuck are you doing?" Riley's voice boomed from within the bathroom where he stood in the doorway that Noah forgot to shut behind him.

Noah threw the sheet over me as he leaped from the bed, whirling to face Riley as he came charging toward him. Noah backed away with his hands up, saying something about trying to explain and Riley shoved him as hard as he could, Noah stumbling back into the nightstand and knocking the lamp over.

"My sister?" Riley roared, shoving Noah again. "My sister!"

"Riley, stop!" I yelled, clutching the sheet to my front and trying desperately to find my t-shirt so I could try and put a stop to what was happening.

"It's not what you think," Noah started but Riley's fist interrupted him. Blood trickled down Noah's lip, his fingers brushing it away as he looked at Riley in shock. As my brother raised his fist again, Noah narrowed his eyes in a glare. "Fuck, dude, just hold on a second."

I finally found my shirt and yanked it on, jumping between the two of them just as Riley tensed to punch him again.

"Stop!" I ordered, thrusting my hands towards his airborne fist and he was able to pull back just in time to avoid hitting me. "Riley! It's okay! He didn't do anything wrong."

For a second, I thought he would back down until he glanced over at the bed and saw blood on the sheets. My blood. It wasn't a lot but it was obvious enough.

Riley lost. His. Mind. Pushing me out of the way, he went after Noah again, shoving him out the door and towards the stairs. He threw another punch, knocking Noah off the top step and I screamed as I thought he was going to tumble backwards down the stairs but he hung on to the railing, feet slipping and he went to his knees. He slid down a few steps before getting his feet back underneath him.

I grabbed Riley's arm, trying to get him to turn and face me. If he would just look at me, then maybe I could get through to him. It was like I wasn't even there; he was so focused on getting to Noah. He easily shrugged me off and tore down the stairs after him, yelling curses and threats.

"Get the fuck out of my house!"

"I love her, Riley. I love her!"

"She's my sister! Not one of your stupid whores!"

I chased after both of them, hitting the bottom of the stairs just as Noah was opening the front door. Riley punched him again, my shrieks drowning out whatever they were shouting at each other. Noah held his hands in front of him, trying to block what Riley was throwing. They were out on the front porch, Riley forcing Noah down yet another set of stairs.

"What the fuck is going on?" Mal shouted and chased out the door after them. Joshua was close on his heels but stopped when he got to me.

"What happened? Are you okay?"

"Riley, he caught us," I sobbed.

Joshua's eyes went wide, his head whipping back in the direction of Riley beating down Noah. "Shit." He took off after them.

Riley was shaking off Mal, giving Noah a few seconds to regain his footing but he didn't run. He just stayed there, trying to talk Riley out of his rage while Mal fought to keep him in a hold long enough for someone to get through to him. Joshua jumped in front of Noah, hands raised in front of him.

"Riley, man, calm down. We can talk through this."

Riley's answer was to kick out his feet and punt Joshua's balls into his throat. He went down in a scream of pain and curses. Mal yanked Riley further back and being the bigger of the two, he should have been able to hold him. Riley was caught in a rage like none I'd ever seen. He threw his head back into Mal's face and was instantly freed. Blood spilled from the bridge of Mal's nose.

Riley lunged at Noah again.

"Riley, please! Stop!" Tears streamed down my cheeks as I grabbed at his arms. Noah dropped his hands long enough to shake his head at me, wanting me to back away.

"Reggie, watch out!" he shouted just as I got an elbow to the chin and fell back onto my ass. Stars blurred my vision. The tang of blood coated my tongue where my teeth had bitten it.

As Riley paused, realizing he had just hit me, Noah shot forward to get to me, to see if I was okay, except Riley didn't let him get that far. He barreled forward and tackled Noah around the waist, slamming him into the ground with a loud thud.

"Goddammit, Riley! Let me up!" Noah growled, fighting to get a hold of Riley and hold him off. "Let me check on her!"

"You're not going anywhere near her!" Riley answered, getting in another punch to Noah's face.

"Mal, get Reggie!" Noah ordered.

But Mal still looked as dazed as I felt, kneeling a few feet away from me with his hands  covering his bleeding nose.

It was Joshua that started trying to get to me. He was back on his feet, one hand still cupping himself between the legs, face red with pain. But he stumbled toward me, his other hand outstretched to try and help me up.

All I could see from where I sat stunned was the blood covering Noah's perfectly beautiful face. His lip was bleeding and so was his nose. Riley's knuckles were covered in blood.  It was too dark to tell if it was his own or Noah's. I cried, not knowing what else to do as I watched my brother pummel the love of my life on our front lawn. Riley was so far out of his mind that none of my begging and pleading for him to stop was reaching him.

Noah hadn't hit him yet, not even once. And I knew he could hold his own in a fight so why wouldn't he just hit Riley back? My anger was rising so swiftly. I wish he'd knock my stupid brother on his ass. Instead, he kept trying to get back to me, just shoving Riley away or grabbing his arms to stop the punches, and Riley would just take the opportunity to hit him again.

"Noah," I implored, Joshua trying to pull my dead weight to my feet. He eventually got me up. We leaned into one another. "Noah, please. You need to get away. Go."

He heard me. His eyes locked on mine for a second, a new trail of blood smearing his forehead and dripping down his temple. Sobbing, I wrapped my arms around my middle and my legs gave out again, falling to my knees a few feet away. I pleaded with him again.

"Please go. Noah," I gasped between tears. "Please!"

I saw his eyes flicker to Joshua who had his hand on my shoulder, and then back to me. He gave one quick nod.

Noah got his hands between the two of them and gave Riley a hard shove, knocking Riley off of him long enough to get to his feet.

"Get the fuck out, Noah!" Riley shouted while he tried to get back on his feet.

Noah paused, turning to look at me, his expression pained and bloody. He turned back toward Riley. "Let me explain-" he tried again.

"I will kill you if I ever see you again! Fucking kill you!"

"I'll come back for you, Reggie. I'll come back." Noah promised as he turned and jogged down our driveway into the dark.

Riley, standing with his fists at his sides, watched until he was sure Noah was gone and then he whirled on me. I still knelt in the grass, choking on my sobs, unable to get my breath. He took a few steps toward me. I held up a hand.

"Don't," I ordered. "Stay away from me."

"Zig."

"Don't!" I screamed at him.

"Leave her alone, man," Joshua warned.

Riley ignored him. "You need to come inside."

"I love him," I whispered.

Mal swore quietly behind us.

Riley clenched his jaw, not liking the statement. "He doesn't deserve you."

"You've ruined everything. Everything!" I struggled to my feet, ignoring his attempt to help me, and when I was sure I was balanced enough, I punched him in the face. He stumbled back, more from shock than the impact, his hand rubbing his jaw.

"I hate you," I hissed as I walked past him back to the house.

It was as if I had punched him again, the way he recoiled from the words. Never in our entire existence together had we ever said that to each other. We'd probably called each other every name in the book, fought like cats and dogs, and even given each other the silent treatment, but I never had I ever said I hated him.

But at that moment, I really did.
