Nick and Claudia get dumped
Josh pov
I glanced in the mirror one last time. I straightened my jacket, and adjusted my sunglasses. I grabbed the flowers and box of chocolates that I had bought at the store. The chocolates were heart shaped- perfect for Valentines Day. I was beyond excited for tonight. We had planned a double date sort of thing with Nick and Jen, and Jen was due to arrive in five minutes. I grabbed my key to Claudia's house and let myself in.
I entered her living room, and was about to take my shoes off when I noticed she wasn't even in here. I walked to the kitchen, and she wasn't there either. Then I heard footsteps upstairs.
That's when I noticed a pair of snowy boots sitting on the little shoe holder of hers. And they were men's.
I walked up the stairs as quietly as I could, and took my phone out. If I saw anything that I could confront her with, I was going to take a picture of it. And if she was up here with some dude... he'd better run for his life.
On one of her tables in the hall, I saw a wallet and some car keys. The wallet was black and leather, expensive looking. I glowered down at it before making my way silently to her room.
I poked my head in the doorway and worked to contain a gasp.
I checked to make sure my flash was off, and then took the picture. I glared down at the photo in the hall, tears stinging in my eyes. Claudia was standing, kissing another dude.
I entered the room pretty dramatically.
"Well, well, well." I said loudly, slamming the door open so hard it hit the wall and made a mark in it. Claudia and the guy broke apart.
"Josh! I swear, it's not what it looks like-"
"Oh really? Cause it looks like you were just kissing Jen's boyfriend!" Nick backed away slowly, and Claudia started to cry.
"No, I swear-"
"Pictures don't lie, Claudia." I show her my phone. She starts to cry harder.
"I'm sorry-"
"I don't care. I'm not mad at you," I tell her.
"You- you're not?"
"I'm more angry with this dude over here, who thinks it's okay to treat my best friend like that!" I turn to him, advancing. He continues to step back. "You guys can do this to me, but you can not and I repeat can not do this to Jen, do you understand?"
"She won't ever find out anyway," Nick sneered. "You wouldn't tell her, it'll break her heart and you know it!"
And as soon as he said it, I knew it was true. I couldn't tell Jen what Nick had done.
"He doesn't need to,"
I turned to see Jen walking in. She walked straight past me and up to Nick. Then she did something I never thought Jen would do. She punched him right in the face. He swore loudly and took his hand away from his face. His lip was bleeding.
"I heard every word you said, you little b*****" I raised my eyebrows. Jen continued to scream at Nick, and I turned to Claudia.
"You said you're not mad right?" she asked hopefully. I just shake my head at her.
"Sorry, that was a miss communication. I'm very mad at you. We're over Claudia," I turned to get Jen.
Then, right before my eyes, Nick slapped her.
That's when I ran at him, punching him straight in the face so hard that he falls backwards into one of Claudia's vases. Claudia screams.
"Don't ever touch Jen again!" I say and punch him once more. Jen stands up, and a bruise has blossomed on her cheek. I take her hand and pull her from the room, slamming the door behind me.
"What're you thinking?"
Jen glances up from her hands at me. I've never seen her so closed up. She was usually so easy to read. She shakes her head.
"Come on. Tell me."
She looks at me again. "That I was stupid for ever believing Nick loved me," She sighs, and lets out a shuttering gasp.
To be honest, I didn't feel any sadness towards Claudia, just pure, boiling anger. She had made several desperate attempts at calling me, but I had blocked her number and turned down my ringtone.
Jen wasn't exactly sad either. She told me that she just felt stupid. Stupid for ever dating someone like Nick. The truth was, though I didn't tell her this, I knew someone much better that she should be dating. Someone who loved her no matter what happened.
"I have an idea to help you feel better." I say, and she perks up.
"What is it?"
"Get in the car and I'll show you."

The surprise was McDonald's and a movie at his house. I loved it.
We were laying together on the couch, side by side, and laughing at Dumb and Dumber Too. The movie ended all to quickly. I stood to leave, but Josh grabbed my hand.
"No way are you driving home in this," he nods outside at the snowstorm raging outside his window. "I checked the weather. The storm is supposed to go on all night. Just stay here."
I grin. "All right,"
I settle back down on the couch, stretching out and watching Josh put a different movie in.
"What movie are we watching now?" I ask him as he reclaims his spot beside me on the couch.
"Wilderness Family." He says and I grin. I remember watching those movies when I was little, curled up on the couch with my mom. I glance over at Josh.
"Are you sad about Claudia?" I ask, ignoring the movie that was on. Josh heaves a deep sigh.
"No. I don't think so. Just angry." He says. Then he looks at me. "You?"
I shrug. "Not really. Just hurt that he would do that to me."
He nods his head. "He didn't deserve you anyway."
I laugh. It's hard to believe that Claudia would ever want to do something like that to Josh. I know someone he would be better off with. Someone who would always love him, no matter what happens.
