Chapter 8
"Hey, um, Roman?"
Roman looked up from reading a book and retaining none of the information and glared at Aaron, who was standing next to where he was sitting.
"What d'you want?" He asked, closing the book with a sigh. Aaron scratched the back of his head.
"I wanted to say 'I'm sorry'. So... I'm sorry. For blaming you for something you didn't do."
Roman looked at Aaron with his head tilted to the side for a while before rolling his eyes. "Whatever." He muttered, standing up and making to walk off.
"Wait, um, I really am sorry." Aaron said hurriedly. Roman rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, I gathered."
Aaron bit his lip. "I really don't have anything else to say."
"Then why are you talking to me? Why are you apologising?" Roman asked, crossing his arms.
"Because... it's the right thing to do?"
Roman sighed. "There is no 'wrong' or 'right' thing to do. It's all just opinions. So, why are you apologising?" He repeated.
"Because I felt really bad about what I'd done." Aaron said eventually. Roman nodded his head slightly.
"There you go. That doesn't mean you're forgiven, you just know why you decided to apologise." Roman walked off.
Virgil grabbed his books and shoved them in his bag quickly, not really wanting to be late for his next lesson. He was almost running down the corridor when someone grabbed the back of his backpack, jerking him back.
"Where're you going in such a rush, Princey?" Virgil jerked his bag out of Roman's grip.
"Where d'you think? We're in school." Virgil rolled his eyes and started to walk away but Roman grabbed his backpack again. "Would you get off me?!" Virgil growled. Roman laughed.
"Aw, why so nervous, Princey?" Roman laughed as Virgil glared at him.
"I don't know, maybe it's because you're currently stopping me from not being disowned." Virgil pulled his backpack out of Roman's grip again and poked him in the chest harshly. "Don't test me, Queen." He growled before storming off. Roman laughed.
"Well thanks for the compliment, Princey." He yelled after Virgil, receiving a metal pen to the head, making him laugh even harder. "This one will be tricky, Roman." He thought to himself, his spirits not as diminished as they were yesterday. "But it'll be worth it if you can give input into Auridon's laws."
"So, how'd it go?" Remus asked excitedly. Roman laughed.
"Terribly. But it will be so worth it." Remus made a face at Roman who rolled his eyes. "Not like that, dipshit. I mean, I'll finally be important! And I'll be able to help kids on the Isle."
"We're not going back there, are we?"
Roman shook his head firmly. "Not if you stop skipping classes." Remus groaned.
"But school is so boring!"
"Yeah, it is, but if you make us look bad, we'll both be sent back." Remus sighed.
"Fine."
"So, how'd it go?"
Virgil groaned.
"How'd what go?"
"I saw that you were talking with Roman." Janus raised an eyebrow as he surveyed his roommate. "Did you, what did you say? 'Knock some sense into him' like you said you would?"
Virgil growled and shoved a pillow into his face while Janus laughed. "It went bad." He said eventually.
"Mhm, bet it did."
"So, how'd it go?"
Aaron looked up at his roommate, Jack. He shrugged and closed his history homework.
"It went okay, I think..." He trailed off.
"Oh?" Jack tilted his head to the side, expecting details. Aaron sighed.
"Well... I apologised."
"Yeah and?"
"He... didn't take the apology, I think." Aaron's face was clouded and contorted with confusion. "But he kinda did at the same time..."
Jack blinked rapidly. "Okay, that made no sense at all." He checked his phone and sighed. "Sorry, mum's calling me."
Aaron sighed and lay back down on his bed as Jack talked to Tiana, his mum. His mind drifted back to Roman. He was an odd boy but... really cute. "Do I like him?" Aaron wondered. "Maybe I do. And I guess there's nothing wrong with that, right?"
Yes, hello. Can you tell that this was, um, written with Writer's Block?
Bye,
Queenie
