Chapter 25

WARNING: Me self-projecting my own angst onto Logan. Also, Logan angst. Mention of drugs

"So... where do we go from here?" Janus asked. Remus shrugged.

"You knew the Nerd best out of the two of us. Ever thought there was a reason he'd come here?"

"Well... he was always pretty strict with his grades. He would make sure all of his classes were on point, yadda yadda, you get the idea. So, maybe he'd want to go to someone who could do magic. Magic that Fairy Godmother wouldn't allow herself to do."

"And he was the son of..."

"Ariel and Eric." Remus snapped his fingers.

"Ursula." His eyes widened and his smile dropped. "Oh shit, he's going to Ursula."

Remus pulled Janus through the shady streets of the Isle until they came to a dead end.

"Alright, Ursula's place is just over that wall."

"Can't we just go around?" Remus shook his head firmly.

"We've already left this kid here for too long. We've got to climb."

Janus sighed and put his foot in a hole in the side of the wall.

"You know this is impossible to do with a cape and gloves, right?" He said when he finally pulled himself up to the top of the wall. Remus grinned at him and tilted his whole body over the side of the wall, falling off it. Janus bit back a scream as Remus grabbed onto the wall with his fingers and then jumped to the ground, landing like a cat.

"There is no way in the fairy-tale-loving fuck I am doing that." Janus yelled down. Remus laughed.

"Jump Blondie!" He yelled up. "I'll catch you!"

"I don't trust you in the slightest!" Janus yelled down before swinging his other leg over the wall and climbing down carefully. His hand slipped half-way down and he fell. Remus grabbed him before he could hit the ground.

"What did I tell you?" He asked as he set a blushing Janus down on his feet. Janus pulled his cape over his shoulders a little more.

"What d'you want? A cookie for honesty?" Remus grinned and leaned closer to Janus.

"I was thinking something a little more." Janus pushed Remus away slightly, now such a bright pink his face stood out more than his outfit.

"Rescue first, then maybe." Remus groaned in disappointment as Janus walked away.

"You're such a tease." He said, catching up to Janus.

"I've just got my priorities straight. It's the only thing about me I can keep straight." Janus said, dusting off his gloves, which had gone black from the dirt in the wall. Dusting them did little to clean them. He sighed. "I'm not paying for these." He said, brandishing his hands at Remus who laughed.

"That's okay. Ro didn't either. Now come on." Remus grabbed Janus' hand again and dragged him to a purple and black house with grey teeth painted on the front door. "Ursula's spell shop. She used to own a Fish and Chip shop but that went out of business cause Auridon found she was putting some sorta drug in the food."

"Wow." Janus said, blinking in surprise. Remus nodded and opened the door to a dark corridor.

"After you, oh cape-ed one."

"Cape-ed?" Janus asked sceptically. Remus nodded, grinning. "I'm not going in there."

"Yes you are." Remus said, pushing Janus into the house and closing the door behind him. "Don't be such a scaredy cat, Blondie."

"See, you say things like that and you still expect me to like you." Janus hissed.

"This is how I show my love, okay? And may I remind you that you said yes." Remus hissed back. Janus rolled his eyes in the gloom and followed Remus down the carpeted corridor. They heard voices and paused outside a door, listening in.

"Of course, there's always a price." The hair on the back of Janus' neck stood on end. Ursula didn't even sound remotely hurt. She'd recovered fine from being impaled and electrocuted.

"If you want money, I've got lots." Now it was Logan talking.

"I'm not talking about money, boy. There's always a price beyond a material one. What happened to your mother, for example. You seem to be struggling to see with those glasses, boy, shall I fix that too?" Remus gritted his teeth as he understood what Ursula was suggesting.

"I'm perfectly fine wearing glasses, I don't need to be blind, thank you."

Janus had heard just about enough. He grabbed an ornament off a near-by table and threw it as hard as he could at the opposite wall, causing it to shatter.

"Stay quiet." He hissed, undoing his cape and pulling it over his and Remus' head. Against the black wallpaper, they were almost invisible.

"Excuse me, dear boy." They heard the door open and Janus shivered slightly as he felt Ursula pass him. Remus grabbed his hand and squeezed it, trying to tell him that it was alright. As soon as Ursula was around the bend of the corridor, they both bolted into the room.

"Logan." Janus said warningly, causing the other boy to jump and whip around.

"What're you two doing here?" Logan asked coldly, smoothing his tie down. He looked from Remus to Janus. "I suppose you're here to talk me out of doing this? Well you can't. My mind is made up."

Janus took a breath. "I know that we won't be able to stop you, and we're not here to, but we want to know why?"

"Because I'm failing!" Logan snapped, his outburst sudden and then gone. "I'm failing school."

"You're not failing school." Remus scoffed. "I've seen the leader board of 'Smartest Shits In The School'-"

"Remus-"

"And you're up there. Are you actually blind behind those glasses? You're up there, under Sam."

"I'm not blind, Remus." Logan hissed. "I know exactly where I am. I'm second. Second place, second best. And if I'm not perfect in my schoolwork, then I'm not worth it. I'm failing."

Janus shot Remus a warning glance before taking a step towards Logan.

"What class exactly are you failing? Because I know for a fact that it's not all of them?"

Logan looked down. "Good Deeds." He said in a small voice. "And dad found out. I can't even get a class about being good right." There were tears in Logan's voice. He brandished the scroll Ursula had given him in front of him. "This is the only way I'll ever be good at anything again."

"You don't wanna do that, Poshy-"

"Rem, now is not the time for-"

Ursula will fuck you over twice with that." Remus said, cutting in to Janus' interrupting. "She's not a good person. Have you learned nothing from your mother? You don't need to do that. You don't need a shitty gold scroll to be better. You already do fine. Are you trying your best in school?" He asked suddenly.

"What? I'm- Yes, of course I'm-"

"Then that's all that matters, isn't it? I thought that was the Goddamn motto of Auridon High or something."

"Just put the scroll down, Lo, put it down." Janus said carefully. "We all know you don't want to do this."

Logan looked down at the piece of paper in his hand and put it back on the table slowly. Janus smiled in relief.

"Hey Poshy?"

"What?"

"I'd suggest you go and wait at the car now. It's about five streets from here." Logan looked at Janus, silently asking if he should trust what Remus said. Janus nodded slightly and Logan sighed and left the room.

"So..." Janus sighed as he guessed what was coming. "Can I get that kiss now?"

"Hey! Re!" It was Eveline.

"What's wrong Eve?" Remus asked. Eveline stopped to catch her breath.

"It's the guy. The guy you sent here."

"Logan?"

"Yeah him. He's run off with the car."

Remus looked at Janus and tore off towards the alleyway where he had parked the car, Janus not far behind. There was Jessie nattering at Luella on a roof, Joanna picking at the wall with a pen-knife and Silvia hanging upside-down by a bit of lose pipe. But no car.

"Guys, what the fuck? Where'd the damn car go?!"

Joanna looked up at Remus lazily. "We let blue-tie guy through and he got in the driver's seat and got the Hell of the Isle. Nearly ran Jessie down in the process." She pointed her knife at the 10-year-old. "There wasn't anything we could do. Five kids against a car made in Auridon. It's a suicide mission."

"Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." Remus hissed as Janus leaned against a wall.

The car was gone. The barrier closed. They were stuck on the Isle.

Hi, sorry this chapter's so late. Also, probably should've said this in the last chapter but Jessie is my Anxiety. Anyways, the stories finally picking up.
Bye,
Queenie
