Chapter 22
"What d'you mean he's gone to the Isle of the Lost?"
Rose glared at Virgil. "I mean what I said."
"Yeah but how did you know?"
"It wasn't hard to work out. He said that he's not good enough but he was going to change that and to please not tell mum or dad about this. And then he was gone."
Janus jumped up. "I'll go get him back."
"Jan, no. This is not the time to fulfil your little daydream of going to the Isle, okay, this is serious."
Janus nodded. "I know." He said. "That's why I'm going to get help."
Knock, knock, knock. Roman looked up from watching his brother almost disappear into the wardrobe, trying to find something to wear for Sunday.
"Who is it?"
"Just me. Again." Janus' voice came through the door. Remus' head poked out of the wardrobe.
"Shit. Ro, help." He hissed. Roman rolled his eyes and went over to the door, opening it just enough so that he could talk to Janus but so that Janus couldn't see the mess in the room.
"Yeah? What d'you need?"
"I was kind of hoping one of you would help me. Someone's gone to the Isle and I need to get them back."
"Someone... our age?" Janus nodded. "But the only way you can get to the Isle is by car, isn't it? No one our age can drive or should be able to drive."
Janus shrugged. "We can't think of the logistics of this now. We need to get him back in Auridon."
Roman shrugged and glanced back into the room. Somehow, it was even more of a tip than it was before.
"Well, what d'you want us to do about it?"
"Are you serious?" Janus asked. "Help me. I literally said it already."
"What's this guy ever done for us?" Roman asked. Janus stared at him disbelievingly.
"You're seriously worried about that now? What he's ever done for you. God. Remus! Where the fuck are you?!"
"Busy, Blondie." Remus yelled back. "And it doesn't sound like my business."
"It Goddamn is your business." Janus said indignantly. "And can I please come in?"
"Well..." Roman looked behind him at the tip that was his and Remus' dorm room. "No."
"Why?"
"A bomb of clothes kinda exploded."
"Huh?"
"Re didn't know what to wear for your date."
"Wow, thanks Ro." Remus said, coming into view behind Roman. "Hey Blondie. This doesn't sound like something either of us can help with so-"
"You can help though." Janus sighed in exasperation. "You two know your way around the Isle. I don't. I know Logan. You don't. The most logical thing to do is for me to go with one or both of you to the Isle and get him back. Please."
Roman and Remus exchanged glances. "What's-"
"If you dare say 'what's in it for us', I will fucking punch you, Roman Queen."
Remus let out a whistle. "Look at Blondie here with the foul language." Janus glared at Remus before his glare disappeared and was replaced with a look of desperation.
"Please. Rose is so worried about her brother and he really needs help."
"Re, your future husband needs you." Roman said, pushing Remus forwards and disappearing.
"Future husba- Ro-" Remus said, blushing madly.
"Are you going to help me?" Janus asked cautiously. Remus looked at him and sighed.
"Fine. Sure, I'll help."
Janus grinned. "Well, let's go now then."
"No, no, no, no, no. You are not going to the Isle looking like that." Remus said, indicating to Janus' light blue jeans and yellow T-shirt.
"Why?"
"You look too Auridon. Come on, me and Ro'll sort you out."
Janus shrugged his shoulders uncomfortably under the borrowed black cape he was wearing.
"How do you guys wear this stuff all the time?" He asked.
"It's a gift. Now hold still. You're hair's too clean." Roman said, searching through the drawers for something.
"Ah-ha, no. You aren't touching my hair."
"Exactly. That's why- Re, where do you put your damn beanies?"
"I've only got the one." Remus said, also rummaging for something. "But I found this weird bowler-hat-looking thing." He said, holding out a black hat. Roman sighed.
"That'll do, I guess." He said, handing it to Janus who put it on gingerly.
"Is that it?"
Remus paused, looking Janus up and down, trying to decide on something.
"Your hands are too posh."
"Too posh- How can hands be posh?" Janus asked as the Queen twins scurried around. Roman threw some yellow gloves at his face.
"You need to look like you've grown up on the Isle if you don't want to stick out." He explained. "Our hands," he spread his hands wide, showing Janus all the calluses on his palm, "are different to yours."
"Um, speaking of sticking out..." Janus said, looking at himself sceptically in the mirror. He was dressed in black platform boots, black jeans, a yellow shirt, a black cape, a black bowler hat and now he had yellow gloves on his hands.
"You look odd here but on the Isle, that is the least strange thing you will see." Remus explained. "Are we done, Ro?"
"Yeah, I think so." Roman said after surveying Janus for a second. Remus turned to Janus, smiling slightly.
"Ready to go?"
Janus took a breath. "As I'll ever be."
Hi. I'm running out of ideas for this book. Please, help. Thank you.
