Chapter 18

WARNING: Insomnia?... Is that triggering at all?

"Jan, would you stop pacing?" Virgil asked, glaring at his roommate who glared back. "It's making me dizzy."

"Well sorry, I'm nervous." Janus snapped. Virgil sighed and flopped onto his bed, staring up at the ceiling.

"If you're so nervous about this, just text him."

"Yeah, I'd rather die."

"That could easily be arranged." Virgil growled. He sighed and sat up again. "Look, just... stop pacing. Please?"

Janus looked at Virgil pointedly before sighing and sitting down on a chair by his desk, tapping his hands on his knees.

"Look, being nervous is my job. Your job is to get things over and done with. And then I worry about them afterwards. So just... tell me what's wrong? I'm guessing it's something to do with one of the Queen twins. Probably Remus, actually."

Janus sighed and put his head in his hands. "What am I going to do?" He asked. Virgil shrugged.

"Ask him-"

"Finish that sentence. I dare you." Janus said, cutting Virgil off and glaring at him. "There's no way on Earth I am asking Remus-"

There was a knock on the door and a hurrying of footsteps, moving away from the door. Virgil motioned to the door.

"I think it's for you."

Janus rolled his eyes and got up to open the door. There was no one there, just a yellow rose on the ground with a note attached.

"What's the note say?" Janus looked from Virgil to the note.

"Just something." He said vaguely. Virgil rolled his eyes but let the matter drop.

"How you gonna take care of the rose?"

"Water, how else?"

Virgil shrugged and reached out to turn the light off.

It was roughly 1 am and Virgil was still awake. He'd been turning over in bed and checking the time every five minutes for the past 5 hours but he still couldn't get a wink of sleep.

"Fuck you, insomnia." He hissed into the semi-light. His eye fell upon the rose, standing on Janus' desk in a little cup of water, and he wondered again what the note said.

"It's not my business." He thought. This thought didn't stop him from creeping over to Janus' desk and checking the drawers very quietly for the note. He found it eventually, it was pinned to Janus' cork-board, hidden behind a notice for a dance club. He crept back across the room and grabbed his phone, wincing and stopping as a floorboard creaked beneath his foot. After deciding that the cost was clear, he crept back over to Janus' desk and turned on his phone's torch light. His first thought was "Who writes in green pen?" but that question was answered before he'd really even thought it. Remus Queen, obviously.

Hey Blondie,
Bet you weren't expecting this, ha! Yeah, I wasn't exactly expecting it either. Didn't know what flower you liked so I just got you a rose. Yellow cause that's your favourite colour. If you're wondering why this note exists, my twin told

forced me to write this. So, here you go. Hope you like the flower.
Bye,
R. Q

Virgil rolled his eyes and smirked slightly. He'd kind of guessed that it had been Remus but now he was absolutely sure. Maybe this would convince Janus to ask Remus out.

HI! Sorry that this chapter is late and short and that I'm hyper! Also sorry about it being a kind of filler, kind of related to the plot chapter. Hope you liked it anyway!
Bye,
Queenie
