Weeping Angels; the Most Hated Creatures in all of the Universe
"We were just having a great day, a really great day. We were taking a break from all the running, just spending some time together. Just a day about in Manhattan. Thats all we wanted; a normal day.
"But they came with me. When you're with me, a day is never normal. When you're with me, everything becomes dangerous. Days about with your friends become life or death situations. And that's exactly what happened.
"I was sitting back to back with Amelia, reading 'Melody Malone'. Great book, fantastic book actually. Made me say 'Yowzah' a few times, much to Amelia's dismay. I didn't even realize I was reading out loud until she said something. And then I noticed something different, wrinkles, and Rory didn't want to get on Amelia's bad side. Rory's smart. Very smart. You know why? No one gets on a Scottish women's bad side. Especially if that Scottish women was Amelia. So Rory changed the subject and asked if anyone wanted coffee. He got out of there really quick, too.
"Rory went out to get coffee, but he never came back. The angels got him right before he could get to us. We were waiting for him to come back with our drinks, and we only realized something was wrong when we continued reading my book. Something about that book. As soon as it started talking about the future, I knew we needed to stop reading. Amelia wanted to go get Rory, so we went back in time to get him. River was there and was held in place by the wrist of an angel, and Rory was in the basement with the baby statues. Well, they're not statues at all, but you know what I mean. They only left him there with some matches and that's it. I don't know how he wasn't sent back in time again.
"Amelia went and got him out of the basement, and I helped River with her angel problems. I needed a way to see a glimpse of what would happen without knowing exactly what would happen. Once we read it, it was set in stone. Amelia suggested the table of contents, which was the smartest thing I've ever heard. Thats how we knew that Rory was downstairs, the chapter title said it. And then I saw the last chapter. Amelia's Last Farewell. And I stopped.
"I didn't want Amelia to go, so I thought if I changed little events then Amelia wouldn't leave me. Back when we were still in Manhattan, Amelia read that River was stuck in the Angel's grasp and read some dialogue between me an River. I thought if I changed how River got out of the angel that it would change the future.
"River got out of the angel and we started to track ( what did they track?) We tracked it down to the hotel, Winter Quay. We got in the building and went up some floors. We went in a room that said 'Rory Williams' beside the door. It was Rory, by himself, all old. When he saw Amelia, he was so happy, he'd never seen her in years. Then he died.
"The hotel wasn't just a normal hotel, it was a battery farm for the angels. They stored all the people sent back in time and would take the energy of the days that should've been. Well, Rory saw himself die, which means that it was a paradox. To get out of there and to stop the angels, we had to create another paradox. I wasn't sure what paradox or if it would even work, but Rory already had a plan.
"Since he saw himself die, if he died twice on the same night, it would create a paradox big enough to get us back to our own time. So, he stood on the ledge and was going to jump. River and I were still in the building, so we didn't know what was happening. By the time we made it to the roof, Amelia was standing on the ledge beside him. I said, 'what are you doing? Get down from there' And she said 'its called marriage. Together, or not at all.' And they jumped. I ran over to the ledge. Why? Why did they jump? I didn't know if it would work, and I started crying. River came up to me and said 'look'. It had worked. They created a paradox that would send us back to our own time, and we were sent back.
"But it was strange, we were in a cemetery. But we didn't pay much attention. We were safe, together. We could go on more adventures. We should've left right then, we should've flown away in the TARDIS and gone on another adventure. Why didn't we just fly away in the TARDIS? Rory noticed a gravestone that had his name on it. He called Amelia over, and when he turned around, a weeping angel got him. Amelia wanted to go, too, but I didn't want her to go. She said, 'there's room for one more name on that gravestone'. Again, I wasn't even sure if it would work, if the angel would send her back to the same time as him. She asked me if it was her best shot. I said no, but it was. River told her that it was her best shot, that she should go back in time and be with Rory.
"She told River to take care of me, turned around, and said goodbye Raggedy Man. I didn't have a chance to say anything, she was whisked away by the angel. So we went in the TARDIS. And then I remembered how I hate goodbyes, hate endings. That's why I rip out the last page of every book. I was reading Melody Malone, last chapter, last page, was Amelia's Afterword. So I ran back to the park, and read it. She told me to never be alone, but I'm a sad man with a box that is infinite in size. How could I find someone?"
I showed them the ripped page that I took out from my pocket. After they were done reading it, I continued with my story.
"She told me to never be alone, but it's hard. It really is. I've spent...."
I choked, I didn't even know I was crying till it was getting hard for me to breath.
"Eighty seven. Eighty seven years by myself in that box. I.... I need..."
I couldn't continue. It was all too much.
Vastra leaned forward and touched my arm. I looked at her. "You need our help. Doctor, you won't be alone ever again."
