It's been.... Oh wait! I don't even know how long it's been or what day it is. It feels like it's been months but I know that's not true. The funny thing is ; I've been attending classes. I know I have because I remember going to school yesterday but I don't know what day it was.

Now standing in front of my class, I felt like I was forgetting something. My brain kept telling me it was something very important but it wouldn't tell me what it was.

"Why are you standing outside? We have ten more minutes before the exam starts." I heard a voice say. A very familiar voice.

I cocked my head to the side and looked up at the person.

"Exam?" I'm sure I looked stupid at that moment. Who forgets an exam? Me, of course.

"Look, I don't know what you're playing at but biology starts in ten minutes or less." She said and pushed past me.

"Oh my God!". I had biology exams this morning! This week was exam week! So that's the important thing I was forgetting. Now I remember why I was lazily picking up my textbook and dropping it back down whenever I remembered Aurora.

Now I understand why I didn't feel this bad when she'd first left me. Because she never did. Somehow, she'd always been there. But now with the knowledge of all that was going on and her sudden transfer, I felt sick.

"Are you for the class?" Someone tapped me on my shoulder.

"Yes." I immediately wiped my eyes and walked inside.

To a very full class.

I could have sworn this class had less than fifty students but the number of heads I was seeing were going to a hundred. I mean, some people were standing.

"What the fuck!" Someone said behind me. I turned to laugh at the person but locked eyes instead with Mr Roger. Was he the one that asked me the question outside? "Who are you all?" He asked the class.

The whole class replied by laughing.

"Seriously, am I in the right class?"

"Yes, Sir."

"Um, alright. Okay. Um, get seated then. I'll give you five minutes to get ready." He sighed and went over to his table.

I turned back to the crowd, looking for a nice place to stand, at least.

"Hey. You can share with me." The girl I'd met outside earlier grabbed my bag.

"You don't mind?" I asked just to be polite. I was already dropping my things on her table.

"Sure. Sit." She smiled.

"Thanks."

"Okay, look," she began once I was somewhat comfortably seated. "I didn't read much for this exam so,"

"So you offered me a seat in exchange for answers." I completed her sentence. She simply nodded. "What if I tell you I didn't read much too?" Which was the absolute truth. I didn't read much.

"Come on," she rolled her eyes. As she did that, I noticed her eyes were weird. I guess they were contacts because I've never heard of anyone with lilac coloured eyes. "I know you. Everyone knows you're smart. Help a sister out please."

"I'll try."

Déjà vu.
That's what they call it. A feeling that one has seen or heard something before. That's what I felt when I saw question number five on my paper.
"EXPLAIN THE TERM METACHROSIS (20marks)"

"Do you know that one?" 'Lilac eyes' nudged my elbow.

"I think I do." I whispered and began thinking. Metachrosis.... Colours.... THE BRACELET!! I remembered where I first saw that word. With everything going on, I'd completely forgotten about the bracelet. Thinking about it now, a part of me felt that the bracelet had something to do with that test question.

"Do you know it or not? Because there's a whole lot of harder questions on the next page." Lilac eyes tapped on the page impatiently.

I quickly wrote what I could remember and showed it to her.

"You sure it's colour change and not beyond colours?" She eyed the paper.

"I'm sure. And what's beyond colours anyway?"

"Darkness."

"You know, I browsed that stuff and you were right." Lilac eyes dropped her right arm on my shoulder as we left the class.

"Told ya."

"Um, can we be seat mates for the rest of the exam?" She grinned at me.

"If you keep a spare seat beside you." I bargained. "I'll pass you the answers but I want to be comfortable."

"Are you calling me fat?"

I almost laughed. Almost. "Sis, if you think you're fat, then you have to start changing mirrors."

"Sis?" She laughed. "I bet you don't even know my name. You barely notice anyone except for your crew."

She was right in a way but the way she said it made me feel like one of those bitchy group of girls.

"I'm sorry if I..."

"Louisa, get your ass over here!" A short, chubby brunette called and motioned at 'lilac eyes'.

"Gimme a minute!" She shouted back. Louisa. Well, the name I gave her started with an L too. "I'll see you during math." She patted my back and walked off to meet her friend.

Someone covered my eyes from behind me.

"Cameron, I know you're the one. Take your hands off my eyes."

"Miss zombie is finally back to life." He said, releasing me.

"Zombie?"

"You know, like warm bodies. The zombie came back to life. I didn't see you in class though."

"I sat with... Do you know any girl with lilac eyes?"

"Louisa?" He raised a brow.

"Yes. It seems like I'm the only one who doesn't know anyone."

"Lemme guess, you sat with her?" I nodded. "Good. I don't know where those extra students came from. So, why have you been on zombie mode? Is it because of Rory?"

I blinked back a tear and nodded. "I miss her. She should have been my seatmate and we'd talk about how we'd spend our last year in highschool together."

"I didn't want to ask before but I feel like there's something more to what happened that day. The both of you weren't on speaking terms and then you just started crying and missing each other. What did she tell you?"

I contemplated on whether to tell him or not. And then decided to tell him.

"She never stopped being my best friend. Though we all thought she was a bitch, she had a reason."

"I don't get."

"Eric found out my step sisters also hated me. So he...." I tried to cut the story short, telling only the important bits. "Now she took the shame and she's gone."

"The way you say 'gone' is as if she's dead. Let's say she's moved schools."

"Does it not hurt you at all?" I frowned at him.

"Yes, but I still talk to her. You know. There's this new challenge called 'stop brooding and start video calling'".

"There's no such thing".

"Well, you can start it. Try calling her this evening. You'll see that it's better than being a zombie."

"I will."

"So how's Almond?" He suddenly asked making me me jump.

"What?"

"Almond. How's he?"

"Um, he's fine. Why are you asking?"

"Stop being so defensive. I was only asking nicely. He seems great. I'm sorry I thought so low of him at first. Are you guys dating?"

"Cameron, no. How's Cindy?" I decided to pop the question back at him.

"She's good." He winked at me.

"Why are you winking?"

"Nothing."

"Hmm."

"I don't know about you but I can't solve maths on an empty stomach."

"Me neither."

_______________

"Lou, why you sitting with her?"

"She's nice. She helped me today, you know. I bet you didn't know the answer to number five."

"Whatever. Drama follows her everywhere."

Eavesdropping isn't good. It's a bad habit of mine. I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me who and who were in that room.

The door suddenly opened and I turned away.

"I know you heard everything" lilac -Louisa came out.

"It's nothing I haven't heard before. Are you ready for maths?" I forced a smile.

"How ready are you? A boy walks six kilometers north east, he picks and apple thirty centimeters below him and turns at an angle of one twenty degrees. How far is he from the sun?"

I just stared at her.

"Come on, answer it."

"Far enough not to burn?" I shrugged.

"Let's hope we don't get such questions."

"Good luck Barbara." Cameron shouted from the back of the class.

"Good luck."

Louisa started pinching my arm.

"What?"

"He's cute. Isn't he?"

"Tell me about it."

"She likes you!" She screamed for the whole class to hear.

Nature isn't fair ,you know. When people are going about their businesses, the ground suddenly opens and swallows the poor people but when you want it to take you, not even as much as dust rises up.
