Chapter Two

Blake grabs the last box out of the car and refuses to let me help. With a cheeky grin, he barges past me and walks down the side of the house. I quickly follow behind as we walk to our house, well, his parents' house.
While Blake walks upstairs to put the box away, I close the front door and trail after him. The few boxes I've brought with me are stacked to the right side of the bedroom. Angela made Blake clean out his draws, only for her to buy a larger pair to go into the room. We begged her to take them back, insisting that she didn't need to change her furniture to suit us, but she tore up the recept and laughed.
I have one night table, half a set of draws and the downstairs wardrobe to place my bags and coats. Angel had also brought a small cube bookshelf with baskets so that I can display my books and store my study utensils and notebooks. It was her welcome to the family gift, one I felt like I could never return.
"I'm going to make a start on unpacking my clothes," I say.
"Okay." He nods his head, a cheeky smile consuming his lips.
Grabbing the box, I open the flaps and start grabbing my things out. I refold the clothing and place it on top of the draws to sort later. As I get to the second top, a pair of arms wrap around my waist and cuddle my tightly.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
"Nothing," he replies.
With one hand, Blake moves the hair away from my neck and presses a soft kiss against my skin. His warm lips trail up and kiss the side of my ear.
"You're clearly doing something." I laugh.
"And what if I was, are you going to stop me?"
"No." I drop the piece of clothing back into the box so that I can turn around and meet Blake's lips with mine. I wrap my arms around his neck and draw his body closer to mine.
"Good." Blake's hands slide down my back and onto my bottom. In one swift motion, he picks me up and carries me to the bed. We flop down in a tangled heap, which makes me giggle with laughter.
"I can't believe we're living together," I say, chewing on my lip nervously. Blake cups my face with his hand then uses his thumb to pull my lip from my teeth. He gently leans in and presses a kiss against my lips.
"I want to wake up next to you forever, Ava, I'm serious." His words make my heart flutter like a butterfly about to take off.
"So do I." Living without Blake isn't plausible anymore. I don't care where we go from now, all I know is that anything in this life will be better because I have Blake by my side.
"I know living in my parents' house it lame, but one day I'll buy us a house and it'll be everything we'll ever need." I hope Blake realises I don't care where we're living, anywhere suits as long as it's safe and he's with me.
"One day, maybe you'll realise you're all I need." I lean in and press my lips against his once more.
Blake pushes me onto my back and moves to hover above me. I hook one leg around his waist and wrap my arms around his neck. As I draw his lips in, I hear a shuffle of movement by the doorway. My head snaps in the direction of the sound, which sends my stomach knotting and churning.
"I hope I'm not disturbing the creation of Paris, just wanted to put London down for her nap." Angela walks straight into the room and over to her cot. Blake falls off the bed and I press my blushing face into the covers of the bed.
"What?" says Angela.
I sit up to see Blake glaring at his mother, mortified by what she's said.
"You can't say stuff like that," he grumbles. "It's embarrassing."
"You're right." She nods her head. "Your father wants a little Dallas or even Dayton, they'd make nice names."
Blake's eyes widen with annoyance, which only makes Angela laugh.
"Fine, I'm leaving." She raises her hands.
As Angela walks down the steps, Blake sits on the bed and wraps an arm around my waist.
"At least wait for me to leave the house," she calls out, laughter trailing behind her.
"What about Lincoln for a name?" shouts back Blake.
"Odessa or Milan are also great names too," is the last thing Angela yells before the sound of the front door closes.
"I'm so embarrassed right now." I shake my head, flopping back onto the bed. Grabbing the pillow, I cover my head and quietly scream into the covers. I roll over and throw the pillow away from my body.
"We're just joking." Blake slaps my butt and gets up from his position. He walks around the bed and over to London's cot. He presses his hand on her chest and starts talking to her about me in a baby voice.
"Don't you think it's weird? I don't think I can joke like that with my parents. I don't know if my mother would cry or congratulate me at this point." My mother's been dropping some hints about grandchildren, but I don't think she means right now... or have they been discussing baby names together? Those two hanging out worry me.
"Don't worry about them baby," whispers Blake.
He slowly creeps back, then waves me towards the door. I get off the bed and follow him downstairs.
"Do you want to help me with dinner or clean?" I look over the bottom floor and notice the large mess of toys and Blake's slop. With his new hours working with his father, cleaning hasn't been something Blake and I are doing. Now that I'm living here, cleaning up after them is going to be easier. I always felt out of place picking up after them. Now I guess it's my duty, one I don't mind.
My part-time job at the daycare center up the road means I can tag team with Angela and my mother with London so that I can get this household up and running.
With Jude and Kyle away at University and Tori moving down south for her studies, the pressure is on!
"Sure, I'd probably burn dinner anyways." I push him towards the kitchen while I head into the lounge room. I pick up the dirty plates and take them to the kitchen sink. I fluff up the cushions and put away London's toys before heading into the kitchen to make a start on the dishes.
"Tori will be calling at three tomorrow to face time with London. Are you going to be home?"
"Yeah, I finish at two, so I should have time to make it back here," I say.
"She's freaking out about being away from London," explains Blake. "I think the best place for her is down south with her studies."
"How come?"
"I love that she wants to keep trying with London, but it's just stressing her and it isn't good for either of them."
"At some point, I think it'll just click into place."
"You could be right, you are the baby expert." He chuckles.
"Exactly." Once the dishes are done, I clean down the dining table and join Blake in the kitchen to help with the finishing touches. I dry off the freshly washed bowls as he dishes up the chicken curry.
We take a seat at the table and smile at each other.
"To the first of many meals," says Blake.
"And to the memories to come with them." I smile.
While my mind is begging me to fill it with doubt, to say we'll never make it, my heart is telling me to throw away the doubts and take this journey with Blake. To climb this mountain together and see what the view is like. I've never been an adventurous person, but I might just like this one.

What is something embarrassing your parents have caught you doing? Singing and dancing around like a weirdo would be mine!
