Chapter Eleven

Opening the covers, I go to slide out of bed, but warm arms wrap around my waist affectionately. I try to resist the calling of his soft, warm body but it's hard to do so. The elusive idea from moments ago trickles back to me. I need to get ready for the day.

"What are you doing?" I ask.

"Nothing." He smiles innocently.

"Why are your arms wrapped around me then?" I ask.

"They are?" He laughs. "Maybe they want to hug you?" Without a single chance, Blake effortlessly tugs me back onto the bed and draws me close to his chest. As I try to squirm away, Blake pushes himself up and falls flat on my body, crushing me beneath him.

"Let me guess, your body wants to crush me?" I ask.

"Don't you remember, baby? I'm not sharing you," teases Blake.

Before my ribcage breaks, Blake rolls off and lays down. I rest my head on his chest and wrap my arm around his body. As I stroke the tip of my finger against his soft skin, Blake runs his hand through my hair affectionately.

Gently, he cups my cheek and draws my face to his. Blake presses a soft kiss against my lip which makes my heart race.

"You're still sick, Ava," he notices. "I'll call in sick tomorrow and take you to the doctors," he says.

Shaking my head, I disagree, "No, I'll be fine. Colds take time to go away." Hopefully, this isn't the nine-month variety, followed up by eighteen years.

Pulling out of Blake's grip, I get out of bed and head into the bathroom to get ready for the day. I run the brush through my hair and then change into a fresh pair of clothing. When I leave the bathroom, Blake is dressed and sitting on the bed. His arms are crossed over his chest with a sad pout.

"Why do you look sad, Blake?"

"Because you're sick and you won't rest."

"Babe, I eat bullets for breakfast, I don't need to rest." I wink, running my hand through his soft hair.

"If this continues, I'm throwing you over my shoulder and taking you there myself."

"Sure." I smile.

We walk downstairs and find Jude, Ben, Tori and Kyle sitting on the couch watching a movie while Angela is in the kitchen cooking breakfast.

"My two sleepy heads are up." She smiles happily. "I came to return London and decided to cook breakfast – for old times' sake." I guess Angela would cook for Jude and Blake when their friends came over. She did seem like the kind of mother to do that.

"Finally, you're up!" Grins Ben. "We've been waiting to play some footy." Jude and Ben spring up from the couch and walk towards the front door. Blake half-grins at me before following the two outside. Tori gets up from the couch and wanders into the kitchen to help cook while I snuggle on the couch with Kyle.

I lay across Kyle's lap with the blanket snuggled around me. The smell of eggs and bacon wafts into the room, bringing a delightful smell. At least my appetite is back now.

"Breakfast should be done soon. Angela's been in there for over an hour now," says Kyle.

"She's probably cooking a large variety of food." I smile.

"I'm excited, but I'm also hungry."

Kyle and I watch the end of the movie before Angela calls us to the table. Tori and I place the big plates of food down while the boys rush inside. Blake goes towards London to kiss her cheek but also whispers into Tori's ear.

Instead of inserting myself into the situation, I take a seat and start serving myself a plate of eggs. Before I have the chance, Angela hits my hand with the spatula and shakes her head.

"Not for you, I have something else." Angela grabs a large smoothie cup from the bench and places it in front of me. I look at the gooey green stuff and want to puke. This shouldn't be allowed for anyone.

"Uh, thanks?"

"It's a smoothie with lots of nutrition to help you get over that cold." Smiles a happy Angela.

It would help me get over something... but I don't think it's going to be the cold. Perhaps my appetite.

"Thank you so much." I tug on a smile and take a sip. The slimy substance is sucked up the straw and goes into my mouth. The smallest of drop has me try reaching. To keep Angela happy, I close my eyes and quickly drink it. When I've finished, I'm allowed an egg for protein.

Breakfast goes down quickly. Ben and Jude fight each other for the last sausage while Tori complains about how bloated she feels. I cringe at the fact I didn't get a chance to eat a piece of bacon.

Everyone helps with the breakfast mess, Angela included. The boys wash up while Tori and I put it away. Angela sits at the table with London to command the show. When the house is cleaned up, Kyle and Ben head back to campus and Angela returns to her own house.

Now that we're alone, the four of us sit down for a chat at the freshly cleaned table.

"Is there something wrong with, London?" Tori asks, setting the conversation off.

"No, she's fine," Blake reassures her. "I wanted to revisit the custody situation. I want us to have two-week blocks with London."

"Really?" Tori battles to fight the excitement ready to burst out of her body. She jumps up and down before running around the table to give Blake a big hug.

"Are you sure?" questions Jude, doubtful of the situation.

"Yes." Blake nods his head. "Tori's improved with her ability to care for London. I also think she needs to spend time with you. If I thought this wasn't possible, I wouldn't have suggested it," explains Blake.

"I can do this, Blake, I promise I can do this," she says, a hopeful look consuming her eyes.

"Ava and I are fully accessible and I've got her routine worked out. I believe you can do this and I want you to have a good bond with our daughter," says Blake.

"Then I will stay with Tori for the two weeks," announces Jude with a stern tone. His facial expression hardens, the kind that says, 'no questions asked.'

"Great idea, Jude." I nod, trying to be supportive. I'd also feel better if Jude was there to help in case the boat goes under again. It would be a long time before Blake or I would be able to get to her if something went wrong.

"It's set then." Nods Blake. "I'll work out a schedule and that will give you time to organise your place for London's stay."

'You won't regret this."

"I hope I won't."

Jude and Tori hug excitedly. She wraps her arms around his waist and screams happily. She then races around to London's basinet to give her a quick cuddle, explaining what's going to happen.

Blake wraps his arm around my shoulder and draws me close. He presses his lips against my forehead and smiles.

"Everything will be fine," he reassures me.

"But-"

"I can see it in your eyes, you're worrying about her. Tori is a good person, she's just made mistakes," whispers Blake.

"I know." I nod my head. "Tori isn't as bad as people think. But the first time for something new is always going to be scary," I note.

"That, Ava, that is true." If only he knew, I wasn't just worried about Tori, but rather something else.

Do you think it is a cold, or is she actually pregnant?
