Chapter 1: Schuyler Defeated

"Look! Grandpa's in the paper!'War hero Philip Schuyler in danger of losing senate to young upstart Aaron Burr?'" Philip said as his eyes darted around the newspaper, he looked up at him mother, "Grandpa might lose his seat in the senate."

"I thought he was unopposed?" Eliza questioned,

Philip shook his head, "Not according to the paper he isn't!"

"Go make sure the door is closed!" Eliza ordered as Philip made sure to lock the doors,

"Further down, further down, see Schuyler has a challenger from New York, New York. For senator Burr!" They both said in sync.

"I gotta go I gotta find Alexander!" Eliza panicked,

"Let him know we're on his side!" Philip smiled,

"No! He'll consider this a personal slander." Eliza reasoned, "I've gotta stop a homicide!"

"Oh!" Philip said as realisation hit him like a truck,

"Look around, we should look around!" The once again both sang in sync, "Let's go and find your father down in New York, New York!"

"Burr! Since when are you a Democratic-Republican?" Alexander screamed at his 'friend',

"Since being one put me on the up and up again, hah!" Burr laughed,

"No one know who you are or what you do." Alexander growled,

"They don't need to know me, they don't like you."

"Excuse me?" Alex questioned as he stood there shocked,

"All of Wall Street thinks you're great, you'll always be adored by the things you create~" Burr insulted, "But upstate you're the rascal who trades away the capital..."

"Wait-"

"The asshole who taxes the a-a-alcohol!" Burr finished his sentence while Alexander stood there fuming.

"I always considered you a friend.." Alexander sighed,

"I don't see why that has to end. A senate seat was up for grabs and I took it." Burr stated, "It's not my fault people think you're crooked."

"You're gonna make a fool of me through my father in law?" Alexander asked his eyes full of sadness and sorrow,

"There's the kid who almost shot Charles Lee in the jaw. My god, your pride will be the death of us all." Burr rolled his eyes, "Beware, it goeth before the fall!"

"Alexander, there you are!" Eliza panted as she handed Alex his papers, Philip waved to his father,

"Eliza?" Alex questioned with the most confused look on his face,

"You forgot your papers." She nodded her head with a smile before turning to Burr, "Mister Burr, good sir, it's been so long
How are the Theodosias?"

"As a matter of fact, my wife has taken ill." Burr explained with a frown but he covered it up with another smile,

"I'm not surprised, what with the chill." Eliza smiled, "You'll send her our regards."

"I will."

"And how's your daughters?" Eliza asked, with that remark Philip ran to his mother's arm and grabbed as if he was there the whole time, Philip had never actually gotten to meet the Burrs so any kind of information about his daughters were good enough.

"They're my pride and joy, fluent in French- and Latin!" Burr smiled,

"So am I!" Philip spoke up,

"One's the same age as your boy." Burr chuckled as he ruffled Philip's hair, Philip blushed a deal crimson as Burr removed his hand,

"Yeah, one day he'll run Manhattan-" Alexander protested,

"Daddy, daddy!" A voice called, as all four of them looked in the direction of the voice it was indeed one of Burr's daughters.

"(Y/N)? Honey what's wrong you look horrible." Burr worried as he knelt down to his daughter,

"Mother! She, she.. needs you!" The girl whimpered who looked like she was on the verge of tears,

"We must be going, Eliza, Hamilton." Burr nodded as he turned back to the three,

"Send your girls our love." Eliza smiled, Burr returned it, he picked his daughter up and started to make his way to the hospital, while doing so Philip caught a glimpse at the young girl who was indeed around the same age as him,

Soon enough the two made eye contact, (Y/N) waved at him trying to make up a smile, he blushed a dark red as he waved back at her and with that,

After their first introduction, Philip couldn't stop thinking about the girl, he had stayed in his room all day that day thinking of her and writing poems about her.

(Y/N) on the other hand, did not have time to write poems or think about Philip instead she was mourning her mother's death, there she and her sister was at her father's side as he cried into the bed her mother was laying in.

"She didn't deserve this." He cried softly into the sheets,

Both you and Theodosia gave your father a hug, he gave a weak chuckle as he hugged us back,

"At least I have you two. Stay alive for me, okay?"
