Masonry Walls

Masonry Walls

Built to last for ever
and protect the precious lands
hit by tropical severe weather
the walled city stands

masonry bricks were raised
with blood and sweat
cannons and musket fired
in wars so hard to forget

colossal rosy stoned-hedge guards
jealously for centuries sentinel
watch over the island's heart
pride and fury its pedestal

covered with moss and salt
time added only beauty
to the golden-reddish walls
forever fulfilled its duty
