Frambuesa Piragua

It's noon in Old Town Square
golden sun crowns mid day
the bank's watch strikes
in the corner away
and the chiming church's bell
joins the time hymn duet

teeming with life, colors so vibrant
almond, ceiba and flamboyant trees,
old brick colonial mansions
stand crossing the streets
magnificent, elegant
a monument to history

ladies fan frantically
to scamper the heat
seating on the flour de lis
iron forged benches

'Buenas tardes señor'
'Good afternoon young lady'
'Una piragua, por favor'
the man, wearing a straw hat,
smiles, shredding the ice block

'frambuesa' I say
the red thick liquid
bathes the snow cone
sweet syrup smell
sugary savor

Day 19

***A piragua is a cone like ice desert flavored with different syrups and what we call ''melao" a thicker syrup made with sugar cane molasses.
***frambuesa is raspberry.

I pasted a video that in a funny side inspired me. It's known as the 'movies anthem' and it's nothing than a paints commercial, but it's obliged to be played in the theaters since 1993 because people here love it. We even stand up and salute while the commercial is played before the movies start. Here is a translation to the lyrics.
