Sixteen
Louisa Lloyd
"Who are these people?"
I yank the photo book out of Scott's hands. I have been staring at a picture of Edward, Fiona I during my first year of high school.
"You miss them, don't you?"
"Yeah..." I smile dreamily, the memories of our endless times together. "Fi is a year older than me, but she's dumb and was forced to stay behind. Her brother, Edward... He was the first guy I've ever loved."
"And by what u see, you still like him." I send him a glare. "Let me explain... You should have seen the way you looked at that picture of the two of you."
"I don't want to talk about it."
"You're shutting us down." Scott says before leaving my room. "Just- we're here for you. Remember that."
The room is quiet after Scott's departure. I believe he left to meet Allison and Stiles. I'm not in the mood to have a slumber party with my friends. I'm more into the 'stay at home and have fun by yourself' motto.
There's a knock on my window and I raise my eyebrows. It can't be Scott.
"Who's there?" I ask calmly. If the person is at my window- which I must say is located on the second floor- whoever it is has to be some kind of supernatural creature.
There are no crazy people who like to climb houses and knock on innocent girls' windows.
"Derek. Let me in."
I really don't want to open the window, but if he left the safety of his hiding spot- wherever it is- it's because he need something. I just haven't decided if that's good or bad.
"What do you want?" I ask coldly as I open the window and he steps inside, claiming a spot on my bed.
Cocky bastard.
"I'm here to make a deal."
I raise my eyebrows at him and wait for his proposal. I have the frightening feeling I'm not going to like it.
"You tell Scott to stay out of my way and we won't hurt any of you."
He can't be serious. Is he serious? I laugh in his face as I watch his checks pale.
"I'm not that stupid, Derek. I know the only thing you want is power." I lean forward and face him. "You can go and talk about how hurt you are with Isaac. Or someone who cares."
He stands from my comfortable bed. I will have to change the sheets now, filthy mudblood. Staring down at me, he raises his voice and grips my arms with unnecessary strength.
"I will hunt you down and destroy you from the inside. And I'll take every single on of your friends with me. You shouldn't have crossed my path, Louisa. Wrong move."
Before I can blink he flashes me his fangs and bright red eyes and growls in my face. I shiver violently, the effect my Alpha has on me too strong.
Derek jumps out of my window, and I close it behind his back with all my strength, taming the shivers. I don't want to look at him but he's standing right outside the house, Isaac by his side.
I shake my head in disappointment as Isaac meets my eyes.
"Have fun killing each other."
I close the curtains and watch their dark figures run away from my house. My fingers trace Edward's smile on the picture by my bed. I stare at his bright eyes and sigh.
How I miss my normal life.

I hate this school. Why does Coach have to make us climb this stupid wall? I'm going to fall.
"You wanker!" I shout as Jackson climbs next to my side, only a step faster than me. "That was rude!"
"Darling, I've been staring st your backside since we started this." He winks. "Now it's time for you to admire my butt."
"Gross." I wink back, kicking his feet. "See you at the top, you fat ass."
It's his turn to grab my foot as I climb the wall, my hands gripping the tiny handles like my life depends on it. It kinda does.
"Let go, Jackson. I swear to god, I'll kick your face if you don't let go." I threaten and he laughs.
"You know, I haven't thanked you for saving my life that day."
"I really don't know what you're talking about."
"That night." He stops by my side, and I notice how beautiful his eyes are. "When you and Scott saved me from Derek's house. I just wanted to say thank you."
"You're welcome." I smile forgivingly. "You're not a bad guy."
He opens his mouth to answer my compliment when I do the same thing Allison did to Scott when it was their turn to climb this death wall.
I kick his hand and watch his glare at me as he looses balance and is forced to release his hold on the handles. I don't even have to look to know he landed on his butt with a loud slap.
"I win!" I let go of the wall and let the hanger than secures me to the ceiling take me back to the ground. "Asshole."
"Bitch." He whispers back as coach calls Stiles and a girl named Erica to go next.
I punch his arm, ignoring the disturbing feeling of being watched, and keep my eyes on the two teenagers.
While Stiles ascends with enviable speed, Erica slowly drags her body up. Stiles moves like a snake, fast and steady, and reaches the top faster than Scott did. Mainly because Scott was bickering with Allison the entire way up.
Matt calls my name from the other side of the gym and I wave at him. Believe it or not, Matt is a very nice person.
He points his camera at me and I strike a pose, one hand on my waist and the other making the peace sign. He chuckles, and runs to my side to show me the results.
"You're very photogenic, my friend." He admires the photo, and I blush at the compliment.
"I'm beautiful no matter what." I flip my hair to the side and lay one arm on his left shoulder. "You're an amazing photographer. You should enter a contest or something."
"Would you cheer for me?"
"Of course I would." I smile at him and he pecks my cheek unexpectedly.
I just shake my head at his actions and go back to my place near Allison. Hugging her from behind, I place my head on her shoulder and admit what has been bothering me for days.
"Is Lydia alright?"
"I don't know." Allison sighs. "She hasn't been the same since that day."
"We should have a sleepover at her house."
"Why not in my house?" Allison mocks me and places her hand on her chest, right above her heart.
"Because you move around a lot when you sleep." I answer. "You kicked me."
"It was one time!" She throws her hands in the air.
"Shut up and try to talk to her. She won't even look at me. And that's scaring the crap out of me, she has never done this before. Even Stiles is perplexed at her behavior."
I hear a commotion from the other side of the gym, right next to the climbing wall.
"Erica? You okay? Dizzy? Vertigo?" Coach calls her, the girl still hanging from the wall, scared.
Next in line, Lydia gives an audible sigh.
"Vertigo's a dysfunction of the vestibular system of the inner ear. She's just freaking out."
"Erica!" Coach shouts her name.
"I'm fine." She calls down at him.
"Coach, maybe it's not safe. You know she's epileptic." Allison informs and I bet he didn't know that.
"She is? Why the hell doesn't anyone tell me these things?" He says to us and then turns to the poor girl. "Erica, you're good. Push off. I'll ease you down."
But now she won't move at all, eyes squeezing. Scott steps forward to help and I do the same. Apart from Isaac, we're the only ones who can sense Erica's uncontrollable fear.
"Erica, just let go!" I position my hands around my mouth for the sound to reach her.
Closing her eyes, Erica finally pushes off. She swings out, hands grasping desperately for the safety line. Coach grapples with the cord, managing to ease her down. When her feet hit the mat, she slowly turns to face the stares.
They gaze on her with that horrible pity in their eyes. I can sense it too. I just shake my head at those who laugh and reach her side in a second.
"That's it, Erica. Shake it off." Coach has the audacity to mock his student and a few kids snicker, sending her slinking back into the crowd.
As she passes him, Scott gives an empathetic smile, but I follow her. But she shouts at me to leave her alone and I shrug.
I can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped.
After taking a quick shower and putting my black dress on again, I leave the girls' locker room to find two guys leaning outside. Isaac and Matt, both avoiding each other's eyes.
I ignore Isaac and greet Matt with a tight hug. I know it's wrong to make Isaac jealous with Matt but it gives me tingles in my stomach to see him glaring at Matt.
"What are you doing here?" I ask Matt.
"Waiting for you. So we can go to the next class together." He sounds formal when he speaks to me like that. "Only if you want, you don't have to."
"Hey." Placing my hand on his arm, he visibly calms down under my touch. "I want to. Let's go then."
We start walking when the overwhelming fear that something bad is going to happen invades me. I lean on Matt for support as a vision finds its way inside my mind, the walls I've been building crumbling down in front of me.
I see Erica, standing in front of the climbing wall, intent in conquering it. But she has no safety line as she struggles up and up.
I leave Matt behind, excuses falling from my mouth like tears down a widow's eyes.
My focus is on her heartbeat. I can sense her distress, the way her chest rises and falls with every step she takes up. My hands tremble as I get closer to the gym doors, and I see Scott coming from the other side of the corridor.
Erica, her imagine how very clear in my mind, is almost at the top, smiling. But when she reaches for the next hand hold, she begins blinking rapidly.
Moving with astonishing speed, I open the doors of the gym and run inside, Erica's body falling faster than I thought it would. I don't have time to get there.
But Scott acts faster than me and reaches her in less than a second, as he grabs her before her head can hit the floor.
As Erica's body convulses against him, Scott lowers her to the mats. The doors of the gym clang open, other students pouring in to see what's happening. I kneel besides them, and turn Erica to the side.
Don't ask me how I know that.
Allison is the first to arrive but Scott and I don't pay her any attention. In fact, we're too busy trying to figure out how we knew this was going to happen. Well, it's easier for me to explain because of my visions.
"How did you know?" I ask.
"I felt it." Scott answers. "How did you know?"
"I had a vision."
I look back to Erica, who clutches Scott's hand through each and every convulsion.
"We have to take her to the hospital!" I look around as one of the students takes out his phone. "Call 911!"
Erica shakes uncontrollably and all I can do is clutch her hand as we wait.
•^•^•^•^•^•
Around lunchtime, I meet Scott and Stiles at the cafeteria, where the skinny boy searches for a certain black skinned student. Boyd. When he eventually finds him, Stiles pays fifty dollars for the keys to the ice rink.
Oh, I forgot to tell you. They're going on a double date: Lydia and Stiles with Allison and Scott. They invited me as well but I don't like being the third wheel... And the truth is, if I ever went on a date again, it would be with a guy, not a group of friends.
I don't understand the concept of double dates. There's always, and I mean always, the couple that isn't comfortable with each other and in this case it's totally Stiles and Lydia, and then the one that is all rainbows and unicorns.
I hate that, having to share the time that I could be using with my date with other people. No matter how big friends you are, don't do this. It's a very good advice.
Stiles says something to Scott but I can't really tell what his words are as my eyes and ears are focused on the door. The door right in front of us that leads to the corridor and out of he cafeteria.
Stiles follows me gaze to the doors which slowly push open. The noise quiets around them.
The entire cafeteria seems to turn their heads almost simultaneously as long, toned legs step through the threshold. A figure passes through the crowd, catching every eye.
The flash of a bare midriff sends jaws dropping- guys and girls- as the stunning figure approaches one of the tables.
Still focused on the aspect of the person, I don't identify the girl right away.
A hand reaches out to take a red apple out of a guy's hand. At the table next to ours, Lydia turns around.
"What. The holy hell. Is that?"
Scott rises to get a better look.
"That's Erica." I answer.
Turning from the guy, Erica lets the stares fall on her. Hair flowing back from now flawless skin, she takes a delicate bite of the apple and heads for the cafeteria doors. Wide-eyes following her as she leaves, only one person is not astonished by Erica's new appearance.
Jackson.
Teeth clenched, he stares after her with a palpable rage. Scott moves for the exit to follow Erica with Stiles right on his heels. I just sit there, amazed, before following my two friends.
I bet Derek is behind this.
The doors clatter open to the parking lot as Scott, Stiles and I rush out of the school just in time to see a very disturbing sight.
Erica sliding into the passenger seat of a black Camaro.
Behind the wheel, Derek locks eyes with me. With a slight smile turning the corners of his lips, he hits the gas, flooring it out of the lot.
"That asshole." I whisper. Derek surely heard me because he honks and disappears behind a cloud of dust.
The rest of the day is spent at home, finishing some homework and watching television. Scott arrives home late and I scold him for not calling me.
He knows too god damn well I worry about all of them. Stiles texted me as soon as he got home but Scott ignored my kind solicitation.
Damn them. Damn everyone.
•^•^•^•^•^•
Today is going to be an amazing day. I woke up to the sound of bird singing outside my window and a sky full of fluffy clouds and the bright light of our best friend, the sun.
But a certain someone had to ruin my perfect day.
And that someone is little miss Erica, the new addition to Derek's gang. Let's not forget I'm part of it too because he killed the previous Alpha, Peter. But he doesn't know I'm a werewolf. It's annoying. But I'll get to that in a minute.
Scott, as usual, leaves earlier to get a ride with Stiles while I'm left to walk alone. I don't mind the solitude. I don't mind the silence. If anything, it helps me think.
Being alone for a few minutes before entering the earth's version of hell is a privilege I'll hold on to while I can. Mornings aren't usually this quiet, mainly because Scott and I always have something to do, related to our 'condition'.
I can't help but imaging what it must be like to be born a werewolf. I see Scott's struggles and my own, which are nothing compared to his, and dealing with this since birth? I wouldn't do it. I don't think I would be sane enough to live.
And that takes me to the hot topic of the week: Fiona and Edward. I know I'm not supposed to do this, but I miss them. I do, a lot. When my feet his the soft sand of the outside area at the school, I smile.
I still have a few minutes before the bell rings so I take my phone from my pocket and search for the number I haven't dialed in months.
Waiting patiently for someone to answer, I bite my nails, a nasty habit of mine.
"Hello?" A soft, crystalline voice comes from the other side of the phone.
"Hey." I cough, trying to fin the right words. "Is this Fiona's phone?"
"Yes, this is Fiona."
Oh my, this is her.
"Erm, do you know who I am? Do you remember me?"
"I had a new phone a week ago so my list of contacts was erased. Who wishes to add their number to my already small list of friends?"
"Oh, you can just call me Louisa."
"Lou?" Fiona asks. "Is that really you?"
"No, I'm a blonde bimbo who's taking revenge on you for eating burgers every Friday night." I roll my eyes but she can't see it.
"It's you!" She screams on my ear and I flinch, taking my phone away from my face for a while as she lets out her high-pitched squeaks. "What happened to you? I haven't seen you since my birthday party..."
"It's a long story... I just called to make sure you we're okay. I have classes in a few minutes..."
"Okay." She sounds disappointed. "Call me later when you finish school. Scratch that, I'll call you, it's pretty late here, you know?"
"Sorry about that." I laugh. I really want to ask her how her brother is doing. But I don't.
"Let me just get to Edward, he will want to talk to you."
Panicking after hearing her words, I apologize a thousand times and tell her the bell just ringed.
"Gotta go, bye!" I don't give her a chance to reply or give her phone to Edward.
I don't need this right now. My day was going to be so perfect. My life sucks.
I find my two guy friends waiting for me near Stiles' car. Scott takes me away from the skinny boy as we follow Erica around. And here I'll explain how she completely destroyed my perfect day.
Catching her reflection in a small mirror hanging inside her locker, Erica smiles at herself. But then her smile fades. Scott and I stand behind her, my arms crossed in front of my chest.
Scott stands next to me, a dead serious look in his eyes.
"Two's not enough for Derek. I know he needs at least three. So who's next?" He asks.
"Why's there have to be a next when we've already got you?" She approaches, meeting him in the middle of the corridor.
"Who's next?" It's my turn to ask.
Erica sniffs the air and I smirk internally. She is trying to catch a scent, something that can tell her what I am.
Lucky me.
"Derek wants you out of this. You're not like us, you shouldn't be involved." She says to me.
"Derek lost my trust when he threatened me a few days ago." I step closer to her. "So he doesn't have the right to go around and bark orders. And neither do you."
She smiles deviously, and I'm starting to hate her even more. "You know, I never knew what I looked like during a seizure until someone took a video of me once and put it online."
"I don't care."
"It happened during class." She ignored Scott's words. "I started seizing at my desk. Everyone's saying they should put something in my mouth until some genius reads the card on my key ring which tells you not to because it could break my teeth."
"Erica-"
"Know what happens next? I piss myself." She seems to be in pain. I can't even look at her, I just want to gouge her eyes out. "And everyone starts laughing. You know, the only good thing about seizures was that I never remembered them. Until some brilliant jerkoff has to go put a camera in everybody's phone."
She comes closer. Scott backs into the wall. She puts her hands up, trapping him. I try to pry her arms from my friend but she sends me backwards and I hit the locker behind he.
"But look at me now." Scott, however, looks past her to Allison who watches them. "Oh, that's right. You only have eyes for her."
Grabbing her wrists, he pulls her hands from the wall, pushing her back. Roughly. Which she seems to like.
When he turns again, however, Allison is gone. I don't want her to think Erica has her paws on Scott. He truly only has eyes for her. She should know that.
I tap Erica's shoulder and she looks at me from the corner of her eyes.
"You should just go die on a hole." She whispers to me, slowly, like she's speaking to a child.
"I've thought of that, you know?" I decide to play the victim like she did only mere seconds ago. It works, her eyes change and she looks down at me softly. "But then I look at the bright side of the situation: there are a lot of people who care about me, unlike you. Derek doesn't care. Whatever he told you isn't real. And you'll learn it the hard way, just like I did. It only takes a word, one mistake, for someone to stop trusting you. Ask Derek what he did and then maybe you can see his true colors."
I turn to the door of my first class of the day and leave a speechless Erica behind. I can hear the wheels in her head turning. I just hope she realizes her mistakes.
Lunch time comes faster than I expected and I meet Stiles at the doors. But his face isn't very nice to look at right now. He has a deep frown gracing his soft features and I grasp his arm.
"Louisa, you see that?" Stiles nods to an empty table.
"What? It's an empty table." I say as he walks to Scott's table, where he's sitting with Allison.
"Yeah, but whose empty table?"
"Oh no."
Boyd.
I remember Derek's words like he is speaking right bext to me.
I will hunt you down and destroy you from the inside. And I'll take every single on of your friends with me. You shouldn't have crossed my path, Louisa. Wrong move.
"Wrong move, Hale." I snarl.
•^•^•^•^•^•
"Stiles isn't answering his phone, we have to move." I say, looking for Boyd outside the ice rink.
Stiles was assigned to check Boyd's house while Scott and I searched the ice rink where I know Boyd works at.
"Where is he?"
"I don't know!" I scream at Scott, more nervous than him.
Just the thought of Boyd being like us scares me like crap. We enter the ice rink and Scott keeps an arm around my shoulders. I gasp.
With only a single light above illuminating the rink, Boyd fires up the ice resurfacer. Spinning the wheel, he turns it around and then stops.
Scott walks across the ice toward him, with me right behind him as I grip his shirt with all my strength.
"Boyd!" But the boy looks away as Scott speaks, turning the wheel again. He sets off on the resurfacer. "We just want to talk."
Boyd ignores him, slowly cleaning the ice.
"Come on, Boyd, please." It's now my turn to call my friend. But he won't even glance back as we follow behind. "Did Derek tell you everything? And I'm not just talking about going out-of-control on full moons. I mean everything."
Finally, Boyd eases down on the brake, slowing to a stop.
"He told me about the hunters."
"And that's not enough for you to say no?" I protests. "Some of us didn't have a choice, you know?"
Boyd gives a shrug. Gazing down at the ice, and I can see him watching his own reflection.
"Whatever he promised you, it's not worth it. Whatever you want, there's other ways to get it." I want to place my hands on his shoulders and shake some sense into his head.
Boyd turns off the machine. "I just want to not eat lunch alone every day." His eyes turn to me as he speaks. "Every single one of my friends left me. Isaac... Lou..."
I shake my head and Boyd nods.
"I know what it feels like." Scott says.
"No, you don't."
"I do. Not as bad you, but a few weeks ago, I broke up with my girlfriend and I didn't want to have to see her in the cafeteria. So I sat in the hall and ate alone for the day. But the thing is, it actually felt worse. Not just like I didn't have a girlfriend. But like I didn't have anyone." His little speech gives me time to look around and notice the shadows behind the small plastic walls that protect the rink. "I swear, though. If you want friends, you can do better than Derek."
Somewhere in the middle of the shadows, a dark chuckle is heard.
"That hurts, Scott." Derek stands at the entrance of the rink, Isaac and Erica right behind him. "But I'll try not to take it personally."
Derek leans to the side while Isaac and Erica move into the ice, flanking Scott and I like attack dogs preparing for the kill.
Isaac avoids my eyes at all cost, but I stand tall next to Scott, his arm around my waist, and look at both of them in the eyes.
"If you're going to review me, at least take a consensus. Erica, how's life been for you since we met?" Derek asks.
"In a word? Transformative." She opens her mouth to reveal growing fangs.
Scott takes a cautious step back, but I stand there.
"Isaac?" I flinch as Derek mentions his name.
We haven't discussed the kiss at the police station. And I don't plan on doing it, now that I see his real colors. He is just one of Derek's puppets.
"I'm a little bummed about being a fugitive, but other than that? I'm great."
Scott holds his hands up in a placating gesture, taking another step back as Isaac and Erica circle him. This time, he drags me with him.
"Okay, hold on. This isn't exactly a fair fight."
"I know, let's not take a human into this. Lou has nothing to do with this mess." How Derek can't see I'm a werewolf is impressive. "Then go home, Scott."
But instead of another step back, Scott goes down, a clawed hand cracking into the ice. From a crouched pose, he snaps his head up to reveal himself transformed into a werewolf.
"I meant fair for them." He nods at me and I laugh, baring my own fangs at them at the same time as Scott.
I know my face is normal, apart from the glowing eyes and sharp fangs. I don't have the same physical changes as the normal werewolf. Give it to the Seer in me.
Scott roars and launches himself up for the attack, and I run behind him, attacking Erica first. My fist hits Erica's head and she is sent flying backwards. I smile tauntingly.
"Ready to give up, doll?" I believe my glowing yellow eyes are as mocking as my voice.
I look to the side just a second, in time to see Isaac smash down onto the ice and go sliding across it. Launching himself back onto his feet, he snarls through his fangs at Scott. I cheer for Scott and he shows me his fangs in return.
Erica hurtles across the rink toward me. But with precision, I dig my claws into the ice and kick my feet out at her, sending her flipping into the air.
Derek watches us circle and fight, and I feel him. I feel his emotions, and can tell he's silently pleased by the vicious attacks we launch on each other.
"Don't you get it?" I cry out as Erica punches my face. I taste blood on my mouth. Pushing her back down to the ice, she lands next to a fallen Isaac. "He's not doing this for you. He's just adding to his own power. It's all about him."
Laid out on the ice, an injured Erica and Isaac glance to each other, no longer nearly as confident as before.
"You feel like he's giving you some kind of gift, when all he's really done is turn you into a bunch of guard dogs."
"It's true. It is about power."
"Asshole." I snarl at him, my irises back to normal, but my fangs still visible.
Derek walks across the ice and with each step he seems to grow, eyes turning a brilliant red, fangs snapping out from his gums, claws unsheathing from his fingertips.
Scott scrambles into a retreat, but Derek moves like lightning. He grabs him by the back of his jacket, leaving me out of the fight.
Like hell I'm letting Scott fight Derek on his own.
I launch myself at Derek, grabbing his face and digging my claws on it. But Derek is the Alpha. And he proves it.
He slashes my side with his claws, releasing Scott from the tight hold he had on him, and then with the full weight of his power, lifts me up over his head and slams me down onto the ice.
I see stars as the blood on my mouth intensifies and I cough, my eyes closed. Shards and chunks fly up around my body.
Teeth clenched, Derek looks down at me with pity, and maybe just a tiny bit of regret, and slowly backs away. Scott just kneels by my side and helps me up, but the pain on my side is unbearable. I can feel every eye on my figure and I swallow a sarcastic comment as I lean against Scott for support.
I turn to Boyd, speaking with the last source of air I have in my lungs.
"You don't want it. You don't want to be like them." I sound breathless and in pain.
I am.
"You're right. I want to be like you." Boyd lifts up his shirt to reveal a blood crusted wound at his side. He's already been bitten.
Scott slowly rests his head on mine, and I shake my head.
"You think you're going to enjoy this?" I look at Erica and Isaac. "Well, have fun killing each other on the full moon."
Scott and I watch as the three new werewolves walk away with their Alpha.
"Let's take you to Deaton." Scott picks me up and carries me all the way to the clinic.
As I curse the day Derek Hale was born.

Things are getting ugly, right? I'm loving this and I hope you're liking this too. :)
Have fun waiting for the next chapter. Just a little SPOILER: Lou is going to be in serious danger, just like Lydia. ;)
Bye bye guys!
