Effie's P.O.V

Whilst the Daleks freaked out around me one of them glided over to me and ordered.

"You know the Doctor. You understand him. You will predict his actions."

"I don't know! And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you." I snapped glaring at it.

"Predict! Predict! Predict!" It screamed in my face but I just glared at it until another one yelled.

"TARDIS detected in flight." The one that had been screaming in my face turned to the other Dalek.

"Launch missiles. Exterminate." My eyes widened in fear my eyes going orange.

"You can't! The TARDIS hasn't got any defences. You're going to kill him." The Dalek just looked at me.

"You have predicted correctly." My eyes were now dark orange as I feared for the one who helped me out of the orphanage someone who I saw as a second father in mortal danger. As I watched on the screen as the TARDIS dodged the missiles I silently cheered in my head when I heard the familiar sound of the TARDIS appearing around me and the Dalek that had been near me.

"Effie, get down! Get down, Effie!" The Dalek looked to the Doctor who had been yelling to me I ducked down.

"Exterminate!" The Dalek misses and dad jumps up and shots the Dalek with the gun I saw him with before. I jumped up and ran to dad as he was closer and hugged him tightly and he returned it kneeling down. He pressed a kiss onto my head and hugged me tighter.

"I thought I lost you" I heard him mumble.

"You can't get rid of me that easy" I looked up and saw that he was still shaken from the whole thing. "Here, get here" I held my hand out and placed it on the side of his head.

"H-how did you do that?" I took my hand away from his head.

"When you showed me that book mum left me she said how I would have a gift like all our race I can change people's emotions kinda why my eyes are like they are. Mum could see the future" Dad hugged me again when Doctor spoke up.

"Hey, don't I get a hug?" I smiled as he opened his arms I ran up to him and hugged him tightly and the I turned to Rose hugging her she hugged me back tightly.

"Don't ever scare us like that again!" I chuckled at this.

"Welcome home." Dad says.

"Oh, I thought I'd never see you again." I said getting teary eyed.

"Oh, you were lucky. That was just a one shot wonder. Drained the gun of all its power supply. Now it's just a piece of junk." He says throwing the gun away.

"You said they were extinct. How comes they're still alive?" I asked we were now all huddled around each other talking.

"One minute they're the greatest threat in the Universe, the next minute they vanished out of time and space." Dad adds in.

"They went off to fight a bigger war. The Time War" The Doctor says his eyes darkening at the mention of the war.

"I thought that was just a legend. That was until I met Effie's mother and what her planet had been through in that war"

"I was there. The war between the Daleks and the Time Lords, with the whole of creation at stake. My people were destroyed, but they took the Daleks with them. I almost thought it was worth it. Now it turns out they died for nothing."

"There's thousands of them now. We could hardly stop one. What're we going to do?" Rose asks but the Doctor smiles and starts heading for the door.

"No good stood round here chin wagging. Human race, you'd gossip all day. The Daleks have got the answers. Let's go and meet the neighbours." I shake my head eyes going orange and yellow.

"You can't go out there!" I yell but he still leaves. The Daleks fire at the sight of the Doctor but the rays are stopped by a forcefeild extending a good few metres from the TARDIS.

"Is that it? Useless! Nul points. It's all right, come on out. That forcefield can hold back anything." We all slowly move out as dad says.

"Almost anything." Even I roll my eyes at the fact he says that.

"Yes, but I wasn't going to tell them that. Thanks." The Doctor says rolling his eyes.

"Sorry." Dad says looking sheepishly.

"Do you know what they call me in the ancient legends of the Dalek Homeworld? The Oncoming Storm. You might've removed all your emotions but I reckon right down deep in your DNA, there's one little spark left, and that's fear. Doesn't it just burn when you face me? So tell me. How did you survive the Time War?"

"They survived through me." A deep voice speaks up making me jump and hold onto dad's hand tightly in fear. The lights turn on to reveal a large apparatus, which on closer inspection is an exploded Dalek casing, and a blue-skinned one-eyed mutant is sat there like it's on a throne.

"Rose, Captain, Effie, this is the Emperor of the Daleks."

"You destroyed us, Doctor. The Dalek race died in your inferno, but my ship survived, falling through time, crippled but alive."

"I get it." All the Daleks yell at the Doctor to not inturupt when the Doctor rolled his eyes at this. "I think you're forgetting something. I'm the Doctor, and if there's one thing I can do, it's talk. I've got five billion languages, and you haven't got one way of stopping me. So if anybody's going to shut up, it's you!" Even I jump at this but I was surprised to see the Daleks move back in fear. "Okey doke. So, where were we?"

"We waited here in the dark space, damaged but rebuilding. Centuries passed, and we quietly infiltrated the systems of Earth, harvesting the waste of humanity. The prisoners, the refugees, the dispossessed. They all came to us. The bodies were filtered, pulped, sifted. The seed of the human race is perverted. Only one cell in a billion was fit to be nurtured.

"So you created an army of Daleks out of the dead." I raise my eye brow at this and turn to the Doctor asking.

"Wait, wouldn't that make them half human?."

"Those words are blasphemy." The Emperor yells with the Daleks copying.  "Everything human has been purged. I cultivated pure and blessed Dalek."

"Since when did the Daleks have a concept of blasphemy?" The Doctor asks.

"I reached into the dirt and made new life. I am the God of all Daleks!"

"Worship him. Worship him. Worship him." The Daleks chant in unison.

"They're insane. Hiding in silence for hundreds of years, that's enough to drive anyone mad. But it's worse than that. Driven mad by your own flesh. The stink of humanity. You hate your own existence. And that makes them more deadly than ever. We're going." With that we leave into the TARDIS. "Turn everything up. All transmitters full power, wide open. Now! Do it!" The Doctor orders.

"What does this do?" A women asks.

"Stops the Daleks from transmatting on board. How did you get on? Did you contact Earth?" The Doctor answers.

"Well, we tried to warn them, but all they did was suspend our license because we stopped the programmes." The woman answers shaking her head.

"And the planet's just sitting there, defenceless." The Doctor sighs but then he notices a blonde woman. "Lynda, what're you still doing on board? I told you to evacuate everyone." The woman before hand looks to the Doctor and rolls her eyes.

"She wouldn't go." Lynda smiles walking up to the Doctor.

"Didn't want to leave you."

"There weren't enough shuttles anyway, or I wouldn't be here. We've got about a hundred people stranded on Floor Zero." Another worker women said checking her computer. I'm now very worried orange filling my eyes. As the Dalek fleet approach my eyes fill with red remembering the fact they were the reason that my planet was destroyed and they were the reason that I was now the last of my kind.  As time went on the Doctor started pulling bits out of the conduits.

"Dalek plan. Big mistake, because what have they left me with? Anyone? Anyone?" No one answers. "Oh, come on, it's obvious. A great big transmitter. This station. If I can change the signal, fold it back, sequence it, anyone?" Dad's eyes widen in realisation.

"You've got to be kidding." The Doctor points to dad.

"Give the man a medal."

"A Delta Wave?"

"A Delta Wave!"

"What's a Delta Wave?" Rose asks me nodding.

"Yeah, what on earth are you talking about?" Dad turns to me and Rose answering.

"A wave of Van Cassadyne energy. It fries your brain. Stand in the way of a Delta Wave and your head gets barbequed."

"And this place can transmit a massive wave. Wipe out the Daleks!" The Doctor said looking around.

"Well, get started and do it then." Lynda said enthusiastically.

"Trouble is, wave this size, building this big, brain as clever as mine, should take about, oh, three days? How long till the Fleet arrive?" I looked to the man that the Doctor was asking, hoping he would give us a good answer.

"Twenty two minutes." Dark orange filled my eyes the feeling of dread filling me. As time went by I helped the Doctor and my dad reroute bits and pieces together.

"We've now got a force field so they can't blast us out of the sky, but that doesn't stop the Daleks from physically invading." Dad told us.

"Do they know about the Delta Wave?" The man, who dad told me was called Pavle, asked.

"They'll have worked it out at the same time. So, they want to stop the Doctor. That means they've got to get to this level, five hundred. Now, I can concentrate the extrapolator around the top six levels, five hundred to four nine five. So they'll penetrate the station below that at level four nine four and fight their way up."

"Who are they fighting?" I saw dad looked at me sadly out of the corner of my eye before he answered.

"Us." I thought I felt my heart stop at this I spun around from my work and I could already feel tears pricking at my eyes as Pavale asked.

"And what are we fighting with?"

"The guards had guns with bastic bullets. That's enough to blow a Dalek wide open."

"There's six of us." I felt kind of scared at the fact she was counting me and Rose in this knowing I wouldn't last a second.

"Effie, Rose, you can help me. I need all these wires stripping bare." I let out a small breath as I saw dad give the Doctor a thankful look.

"Right, now there's four of us."

"Then let's move it. Into the lift. Isolate the lift controls." I watched sadly as Pavale and his colleague run off to the lift I see Lynda walk up to the Doctor.

"I just want to say, er, thanks, I suppose, and I'll do my best."

"Me too." They both shake hands and Lynda moves away. Dad then walks up to Rose.

"It's been fun, but I guess this is goodbye."

"Don't talk like that. The Doctor's going to do it. You just watch him."

"Rose, you are worth fighting for." He then kisses her on the cheek. "Wish I'd never met you, Doctor. I was much better off as a coward." Dad then kisses the Doctor on the cheek he then turns to me tears were now falling down my face. He goes down to my level and places his hand on my shoulder. "Effie, I wish I could of been there to raise you, but I know your mother would be as proud as I am of how you've grown up." He rubbed his eyes wiping away his tears before he reached into his jacket and pulling out a small box. "Here, I was planning on giving you this for your birthday but I'll give you it now. Just wait for your birthday to open it" I smiled looking at the little box before hugging him tightly.

"I just got you back, I don't wanna lose you again" I felt him press a kiss on the top of my head.

"I know sweetheart, but promise me you'll be strong" I took a deep breath and nodded. He then stood up and looked at all of us. "See you in hell." As I watched my dad leave I couldn't stop crying as I ran to Rose hugging her tightly as she quietly asked the Doctor.

"He's going to be all right, isn't he?" A few minutes have gone by and I had managed to stop crying but my eyes were still a very dark blue as I sat helping with the wires.

"Suppose." Rose started making me and the Doctor look up to her.

"What?" Doctor asks.

"Nothing." Rose says shaking her head but the Doctor doesn't let it go.

"You said suppose."

"No, I was just thinking. I mean, obviously you can't, but, you've got a time machine. Why can't you just go back to last week and warn them?"

"As soon as the TARDIS lands in that second, I become part of events, stuck in the timeline."

"Yeah, thought it'd be something like that"

"There's another thing the TARDIS could do. It could take us away. We could leave. Let history take its course. We go to Marbella in 1989." I shuck my head.

"That's not an option"

"Yeah, you'd never do that." Rose agreed with me.

"No, but you could ask." He looked at us both kind of surprised. "Never even occurred to you, did it?"

"Well, I'm just too good." I smile at Rose's response the Doctor then turns to me asking.

"The Delta Wave's started building. How long does it need?" I run over to the console and look at multiple numbers on the screen when both the Doctor and Rose stand next to me looking at the console I look up to the Doctor asking worriedly.

"Is that bad? Okay, it's bad. How bad is it?" The Doctor doesn't answer me but instead he looks very excited.

"Rose Tyler, you're a genius! We can do it. If I use the TARDIS to cross my old timeline. Yes!" I follow the Doctor with Rose into the TARDIS where he points to two switches turning to us.

"Hold that down and keep position."

"What's it do?" Rose asks.

"Cancels the buffers. If I'm very clever and I'm more than clever, I'm brilliant, I might just save the world. Or rip it apart..."

"I'd go for the first one." I nod my head in agreement holding down my switch.

"Me too. Now, I've just got to go and power up the Game Station. Hold on!" I watch the Doctor run out of the door before I hear his sonic screwdriver and the engines start up.

"Doctor, what're you doing? Can we take are hands off? It's moving." The doors suddenly slam shut making me let go of the button and with Rose run to the door. Rose tries to hit the door down but it doesn't budge when behind me a hologram of the Doctor appears.

"This is Emergency Programme One. Rose, Effie, now listen, this is important. If this message is activated, then it can only mean one thing. We must be in danger. And I mean fatal. I'm dead or about to die any second with no chance of escape." My eyes were turning a mixture of colours red and blue and orange and yellow kept changing at my mixture of emotions as Rose was yelling. "And that's okay. Hope it's a good death. But I promised to look after you, to look after you both, and that's what I'm doing. The TARDIS is taking you home."

"I won't let you." Rose yells before I rub my eyes furiously.

"I don't have a home, you moron!"

"And I bet you're fussing and moaning now. Typical. But hold on and just listen a bit more. The TARDIS can never return for me. Emergency Programme One means I'm facing an enemy that should never get their hands on this machine. So this is what you should do. Let the TARDIS die. Just let this old box gather dust. No one can open it. No one'll even notice it. Let it become a strange little thing standing on a street corner. And over the years, the world'll move on and the box will be buried. And if you want to remember me, then you can do one thing. That's all, one thing. Have a good life. Do that for me, Rose and Effie. Have a fantastic life." The hologram flickers out as I fall to my knees crying my eyes out.

"You can't do this to me. You can't. Take me back! Take me back! No!" Rose yells as she tries to use the controls, but the engine stops I watch as she runs outside and then back in trying the console again. "Come on, fly. How do you fly? Come on, help me!" I just watch silently as Rose gives up and stomps away probably to her mother and boyfriend. I just sit there in silence I don't have a mother to go cry to and now I don't have a father or even a father figure to cry to I only had this small family with the TARDIS as my home and protector. I slowly get up and walk towards the console placing my hand on the cold metal.

"Please, I know you've talked to me before I just need some help" I felt so stupid thinking that talking to the TARDIS was going to work but just as I began to walk away a familiar voice spoke to me.

"My little Gem, I promised to protect you at all costs" I turned to the console. "I don't want to put you in harms way by bringing you back there" I sigh.

"Please, TARDIS for all I know my dad is now dead and I don't want the Doctor to die either" I hear silence from the amazing ship before she speaks again.

"I know a way to help you but it won't be pleasant, do you understand my little Gem?" I nod my head before a panel opens up relieving a bright light that I remember I have looked right into I hear a beautiful song as I feel myself drift off to sleep not hearing the doors closing behind me with Rose's angry yelling outside.

Third persons P.O.V

The Doctor was working on the Delta wave when Jack's voice spoke up over the intercom.

"Rose, I've called up the internal laser codes. There should be a different number on every screen. Can you read them out to me?" The Doctor response to Jack.

"She's not here." Jack sighs to himself.

"Of all the times to take a leak." He then asks. "Well, can you get Effie to read them out.

"She's not here either"

"Okay, well when one of them gets back, tell them to read me the codes."

"They're not coming back.

"What do you mean? Where'd they go?"

"Just get on with your work." Jack then turned on the screen showing his face.

"You took them home, didn't you?" The Doctor looks down.

"Yeah."

"Doctor...... Thank you so much" A few hours went by the Doctor still working on the Delta wave when Jack asked. "The Delta Wave. Is it ever going to be ready?" Before the Doctor could answer the Emperor of the Daleks appeared on the view screen.

"Tell him the truth, Doctor. There is every possibility the Delta Wave could be complete, but no possibility of refining it. The Delta Wave must kill every living thing in its path, with no distinction between human and Dalek. All things will die. By your hand."

"Doctor, the range of this transmitter covers the entire Earth." Jack stated in shock.

"You would destroy Daleks and Humans together. If I am God, the creator of all things, then what does that make you, Doctor?" The Emperor asked.

"There are colonies out there. The Human Race would survive in some shape or form, but you're the only Daleks in existence. The whole Universe is in danger if I let you live. Do you see, Jack? That's the decision I've got to make for every living thing. Die as a human or live as a Dalek. What would you do?" Jack thought for a second before answering.

"You sent them home. They're safe. Keep working."

"But he will exterminate you!"

"Never doubted him. Never will."

"Now, you tell me, God of all Daleks, because there's one thing I never worked out. The words Bad Wolf, spread across time and space, everywhere, drawing me in. How'd you manage that?"

"I did nothing."

"Oh, come on, there's no secrets now, your worship."

"They are not part of my design. This is the Truth of God." The Doctor looks up at the Bad Wolf corporation sign on the wall. A few hours have gone by and the Doctor was getting closer with the Delta wave but the Daleks had begun they're attack killing all of these innocent people including Lynda. Jack yells over the intercom whilst shooting at the Daleks.

"Last man standing! For God's sake, Doctor, finish that thing and kill them!"

"Finish that thing and kill mankind." The Emperor said evily.

"Doctor, you've got twenty seconds maximum!" Jack runs out of bullets and throws away the machine gun and takes out the pistol that is too empty.

"Exterminate." The Dalek says.

"I kind of figured that." The shot hits Jack back into the lift.

"It's ready!" The Doctor exclaims as the Daleks enter from all sides. "You really want to think about this, because if I activate the signal, every living creature dies."

"I am immortal." The Emperor retorts.

"Do you want to put that to the test?"

"I want to see you become like me. Hail the Doctor, the Great Exterminator."

"I'll do it!"

"Then prove yourself, Doctor. What are you, coward or killer?" The Doctor goes to hit the switch but he instead throws it away.

"Coward. Any day."

"Mankind will be harvested because of your weakness."

"And what about me? Am I becoming one of your angels?"

"You are the heathen. You will be exterminated."

"Maybe it's time." The Doctor closes his eyes, and the TARDIS materialises behind him.

"Alert! TARDIS materialising!" A Dalek yells.

"You will not escape!" The Emperor yells. The TARDIS doors open Effie steps into the doorway silhouetted in a blinding golden light. Energy tendrils snake outwards.

"What've you done?" The Doctor asks shocked.

"I looked into the TARDIS, and the TARDIS looked into me." She said her voice echoing.

"You looked into the Time Vortex. Effie, no one's meant to see that."

"This is the Abomination!" The Emperor yells.

"Exterminate!" A Dalek tries to shoot Effie but she stops the beam mid-air with her hand.

"I am the Bad Wolf. I create myself. I take the words, I scatter them in time and space. A message to lead myself here."

"Effie, you've got to stop this. You've got to stop this now. You've got the entire vortex running through your head. You're going to burn."

"I want you safe. My Doctor. Protected from the false god." She said hissing at the Emperor.

"You cannot hurt me. I am immortal."

"You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space. Every single atom of your existence, and I divide them." All the Daleks disintegrate gently. "Everything must come to dust. All things. Everything dies. The Time War ends." The spaceship with the Emperor on disappears in a golden wave.

"Effie, you've done it. Now stop. Just let go."

"How can I let go of this? I bring life." On the lower level Jack suddenly breaths deeply surprised he was back.

"But this is wrong! You can't control life and death."

"But I can. The sun and the moon, the day and night. But why do they hurt?" The Doctor then noticed Effie was crying.

"The power's going to kill you and it's my fault."

"I can see everything. All that is, all that was, all that ever could be."

"That's what I see. All the time. And doesn't it drive you mad?"

"My head." Effie says holding her head tightly.

"Come here." The Doctor says moving closer.

"It's killing me" Effie cried.

"I think you need a Doctor." The Doctor places a gentle kiss on the top of Effie's head the golden energy transfers from her eyes to his, the she faints the Doctor picking her up and exhales the energy back into the TARDIS and closes its doors close. Jack enters the room seeing the TARDIS he runs to the door but the TARDIS has already dematerialise leaving him stranded.

"Don't worry Effie, pop's on the way"

Effie's P.O.V

I slowly wake up not remembering how I got to be laying on the floor in the TARDIS I slowly sit up.

"What happened?" I ask.

"Don't you remember?" I look up to see the Doctor holding the console.

"It's like there was this singing."

"That's right. I sang a song and the Daleks ran away." I chuckled at this.

"I was at Rose's home. No, I wasn't, I was in the TARDIS, and there was this light. I can't remember anything else..."

"Effie Garnet, or I guess Effie Harkness. I was going take you to so many places. Barcelona. Not the city Barcelona, the planet Barcelona. You'd love it. Fantastic place. They've got dogs with no noses. Imagine how many times a day you end up telling that joke, and it's still funny." I smile at this standing up.

"Then, why can't we go?"

"Maybe you will, and maybe I will. But not like this." I raise my eyebrow and say.

"You're not making sense."

"I might never make sense again. I might have two heads, or no head. Imagine me with no head. And don't say that's an improvement. But it's a bit dodgy, this process. You never know what you're going to end up with." The Doctor doubles over in pain making my eyes go yellow and orange.

"Doctor!" I yell going towards him.

"Stay away!" He holds a hand up making me stop.

"Doctor, tell me what's going on."

"I absorbed all the energy of the Time Vortex, and no one's meant to do that. Every cell in my body's dying." Tears start falling down my face.

"Can't you do something?"

"Yeah, I'm doing it now. Time Lords have this little trick, it's sort of a way of cheating death. Except it means I'm going to change, and I'm not going to see you again. Not like this. Not with this daft old face. And before I go-" I shake my head.

"Don't say that."

"Effie, before I go, I just want to tell you, you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And do you know what? So was I." Despite the situation I smile at this when a golden light bursts out of the Doctor's body. Everything changes very suddenly and a tall, slender man with brown spiky hair is stood there. "Hello. Okay. Ooo, new teeth. That's weird. So, where was I? Oh, that's right. Barcelona."
