I had been talking with my dad for a while now he was telling me about my mum and what she was like. We had managed to get closer by learning more about each other. This day myself, Rose, the Doctor and dad were hanging around the console room when there was a knock on the door. I look confused at dad who smiled and walked to the door before opening it and looking outside.

"Who the hell are you?" I chuckle at the bluntness of his question I listen as I hear a voice come from the other side of the door.

"What do you mean, who the hell am I? Who the hell are you?"

"Captain Jack Harkness. Whatever your selling, we're not buying." This does actually make me laugh out loud before the voice snaps.

"Get out of my way!" dad steps back from the door as a man steps in confusing me as I had no idea who this was.

"Don't tell me. This must be Mickey." Dad says.

"Who's Mickey?" I ask him he turns to me and answers.

"He's Rose's boyfriend" I quirk my eyebrow thinking it was weird that Rose's boyfriend was left behind whilst she went on amazing adventures with us but it was also weird that Rose had never mentioned Mickey to me.

"Here comes trouble! How're you doing, Ricky boy?"

"It's Mickey!" Mickey shouts to him from where he was messing around with the TARDIS. Rose walks up to Mickey smiling.

"Don't listen to him, he's winding you up." Mickey smiles back at her complimenting her.

"You look fantastic." Rose and Mickey hug and I smile at them at how sweet they looked. From my side I heard my dad aw.

"Aw, sweet, look at these two." He then turns to the Doctor. "How come I never get any of that?" I smile at this my eyes turning rainbow. The Doctor smirked.

"Buy me a drink first." I sighed in exasperation and moaned.

"Why do you have to be such hard work?" The Doctor smirked at me.

"Cause it's worth it." I laughed at this including dad. Rose cut this conversation off by asking Mickey.

"Did you manage to find it?" Mickey reached into his pocket.

"There you go." I watch as he passes her, her passport as he turns to the Doctor.

"I can go anywhere now." I sighed and told her.

"Rose he's already said we don't need a passport" Rose turned to us smiling.

"It's all very well going to Platform One and Justicia and the Glass Pyramid of San Kaloon, but what if we end up in Brazil? I might need it. You see, I'm prepared for anything." She smiled with her tongue in her teeth a thing I've begun to notice she does when she's really happy. But then Mickey cut in saying.

"Sounds like your staying, then." The TARDIS suddenly got uncomfortably quiet as we all looked mainly at Mickey. He let a small cough out before changing the subject. "So, what're you doing in Cardiff? And who the hell's Jumping Jack Flash and the girl there? I mean, I don't mind you hanging out with big-ears up there" From up the ladder I heard the Doctor exclaim.

"Oi!" Mickey just looked back at the Doctor.

"Look in the mirror. But this guy, I don't know, he's kind of..." Dad raised his eyebrow.

"Handsome?" Mickey rolled his eyes.

"More like cheesy." Dad looked down at me asking.

"Early twenty first Century slang. Is cheesy good or bad?" Before I could answer Mickey jumped in.

"It's bad." I then butted in adding.

"But bad means good, isn't that right?" My dad laughs ruffling my hair.

"Are you saying I'm not handsome?" The Doctor asks making me snort. Rose points to me.

"That is Jack and his daughter. We just stopped off. We need to refuel. The thing is, Cardiff's got this rift running through the middle of the city. It's invisible, but it's like an earthquake fault between different dimensions."

"The rift was healed back in 1869." The Doctor cut in.

"Thanks to a girl named Gwyneth, because these creatures called the Gelth, they were using the rift as a gateway but she saved the world and closed it." Rose added.

"But closing a rift always leaves a scar, and that scar generates energy, harmless to the human race" Dad suddenly cut in at that point.

"But perfect for the Tardis, so just park it here for a couple of days right on top of the scar and" I watched next to Mickey looking wide eyed as the conversation bounced between the three of them.

"Open up the engines, soak up the radiation." Going back to dad.

"Like filling her up with petrol and off we go!" Then to Rose.

"Into time!" Then again back to dad.

"And space!" They all yelled.

"My God, have you seen yourselves? You all think you're so clever, don't you?"

"Yeah."

"Yeah."

"Yep!" Dad said patting Mickey's face I turn to the poor boy smiling kindly.

"Don't worry you'll get used to them... Hopefully" Dad laughed at this ruffling my hair and pulling me into his side. We left out of the TARDIS to go and look around whilst the TARDIS refills.

"Should take another twenty four hours, which means we've got time to kill." The Doctor informs us. As we leave I hold onto dad's hand as Mickey points to an old lady who seemed to be starting at our group.

"That old lady's staring."

"Probably wondering what four people could do inside a small wooden box." I look at him kind of understanding the joke. Being my age I had heard a few older boys making them kind of jokes in the schools I went to and aimed them towards me but I never fully understood the jokes.

"What are you captain of, the Innuendo Squad? And do you really think you should say them kinds of things with your kid with you?" Jack doesn't take Mickey seriously and instead makes a 'whatever' gesture and starts to walk away.  "Wait, the TARDIS, we can't just leave it. Doesn't it get noticed?" Dad still holding my hand looks to the Doctor asking.

"Yeah, what's with the police box? Why does it look like that?"

"It's a cloaking device." Rose told them.

"It's called a chameleon circuit. The TARDIS is meant to disguise itself wherever it lands, like if this was Ancient Rome, it'd be a statue on a plinth or something. But I landed in the 1960s, it disguised itself as a police box, and the circuit got stuck."

"So it copied a real thing? There actually was police boxes?" Mickey asked.

"Yeah, on street corners. Phone for help before they had radios and mobiles. If they arrested someone, they could shove them inside till help came, like a little prison cell." I smiled at this.

"That's really cool, how the TARDIS can just disguise itself like that"

"Why don't you just fix the circuit?" Dad asks I gasp in mock hurt.

"I like it, don't you?" The Doctor says.

"I love it." Both myself and Rose say in sync.

"But that's what I meant. There's no police boxes anymore, so doesn't it get noticed?" Mickey pointed out but Doctor just placed his hand on his shoulder and led him away saying.

"Ricky, let me tell you something about the human race. You put a mysterious blue box slap bang in the middle of town, what do they do? Walk past it. Now, stop your nagging. Let's go and explore."

"What's the plan?" Rose asks as I hold onto my dad's hand and walk with the group across the promenade.

"I don't know. Cardiff, early twenty first century and the wind's coming from the east. Trust me. Safest place in the universe." I groaned in annoyance.

"Why would you say that?" The group laughed at this we soon find a small cafe where we stopped to get some food. I sat next to my dad listening intently to his story even though that was what we spent the last few days doing I loved hearing his stories he even told me a few about my mum.

"I swear, six feet tall and with big tusks" The others were also laughing as the Doctor yelled.

"You're lying through your teeth!"

"I'd have gone bonkers! That's the word - bonkers!"

"I mean, it turns out the white things are tusks and I mean tusks! And it's woken, and it's not happy." I raised my eyebrow and said.

"Surely you would of seen it?"  Dad just shakes his head.

"And we're standing there, fifteen of us, naked-"

"Naked?!" Rose screeches.

"And I'm like, oh, no, no, it's got nothing to do with me. And then it roars, and we are running. Oh my God, we are running! And Brakovitch falls, so I turn to him and I say-"

"I knew we should've turned left!" Mickey steals dad's jokes.

"That's my line!" Jake snaps jokingly. Rose shakes her head still laughing.

"I don't believe you. I don't believe a word you say ever. That is so brilliant. Did you ever get your clothes back?" Out of the corner of my eye I see Doctor stand up and snatch a newspaper from the man at the next table and reads it. I turn to the Doctor and ask him.

"Something wrong?"

"And I was having such a nice day." I raise my eye brow before he holds up the front page of the newspaper, with the picture of a woman who Rose had told me about before. At the sight of her my eyes turn red and I feel a hand on my shoulder looking up I see my dad give me a calming look making me take a deep breath and my eyes turn back to normal.

"Well, let's go and visit her" We had walked to the city hall where dad was giving us a brief.

"According to intelligence, the target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sect from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit. Okay, plan of attack, we assume a basic fifty seven fifty six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor, you go face to face. That'll designate Exit One, I'll cover Exit Two. Rose, you Exit Three. Mickey Smith, you take Exit Four. Effie, sweetheart, you go to exit five. Have you got that?" I smile at his nickname and nod.

"Excuse me. Who's in charge?" Doctor asks raising an eyebrow.

"Sorry. Awaiting orders, sir." Dad says looking forward.

"Right, here's the plan." Doctor then pauses making me look at him smirking with a raised eyebrow. "Like he said. Nice plan. Anything else?"

"Present arms." We all pull our mobile phones out and say ready. "Speed dial?" Again we all confirm and my dad finally says. "See you in hell." we all head our seperate ways. I soon get a call on my phone from the group call.

"Slitheen heading north." The Doctor informs us.

"Got it Doctor" I say before running to my exit. As I approach my exit I hear someone running in my direction and I also hear dad ask.

"Who's on Exit Four??" I don't listen to the rest as I assume Mickey missed her I could hear her getting closer and as I timed it and pounced and tackled Margaret to the ground making her shriek from surprise.

"Nicely done, Effie!" Doctor praises. I slowly stand off Margaret who is glaring at me but dad roughly pulls her up and leads her back into city hall.

"So, you're a Slitheen, you're on Earth, you're trapped. Your family get killed but you teleport out just in the nick of time. You have no means of escape. What do you do? You build a nuclear power station. But what for?" Doctor asks.

"A philanthropic gesture. I've learnt the error of my ways." She says but I roll my eyes and says.

"And it just so happens to be right on top of the rift." She looked at me and feigned innocence.

"What rift would that be?" My dad must of seen the red in my eyes as he cut in answering.

"A rift in space and time. If this power station went into meltdown, the entire planet would go.." He makes an explosion noise. I start looking at the model station noticing something wired about it.

"This station is designed to explode the minute it reaches capacity." Doctor puts in.

"Didn't anyone notice? Isn't there someone in London checking this sort of stuff?" Rose asks.

"We're in Cardiff. London doesn't care. The South Wales coast could fall into the sea and they wouldn't notice. Oh. I sound like a Welshman. God help me, I've gone native."

"But why would she do that? A great big explosion, she'd only end up killing herself." Mickey asks.

"She's got a name, you know."

"She's not even a she, she's a thing."

"Oh, but she's clever." I say now seeing the thing that was wired about the model I pull at the middle section and turn it over to reveal electronics.

"Fantastic." The Doctor says.

"Is that a tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator?" Dad asks us making myself and the Doctor raise our eyebrows.

"Couldn't have put it better myself." Doctor says.

"Oo, genius! You didn't build this?" Dad gushes over the device while gently taking it from me. This made me smile as I finally can see where my love of electronics came from and it made me smile that I had something else to talk to my dad about.

"I bet she stole it." Mickey said.

"It fell into my hands." I glared at her for this.

"Is it a weapon?" I shake my head and say.

"No, it's used for transport. When that reactor blows up the rift will open. Phenomenal cosmic distatar."

"But this thing shrouds you in a forcefield. You have this energy bubble, so you're safe. Then you feed it coordinates, stand on top, and ride the concussion all the way out of the solar system." Dad finishes smiling at me.

"It's a surfboard." Mickey summerises.

"A pan-dimensional surfboard, yeah."

"And it would've worked. Id have surfed away from this dead end dump and back to civilisation." I turned to my dad and asked.

"Did you think she was gonna say "if it hadn't been for you meddling kids"?" This made dad laugh.

"You'd blow up a whole planet just to get a lift?" Mickey asks in anger.

"Like stepping on an anthill." This made my eyes turn red but before I could yell at her Doctor asks her.

"How'd you think of the name?"

"What, Blaidd Drwg? It's Welsh." I walked towards Doctor as he asked

"I know, but how did you think of it?" Margaret shrugged.

"I chose it at random, that's all. I don't know. It just sounded good. Does it matter?" Doctor was still frowning at the words.

"Blaidd Drwg."

"What's it mean?" Rose asks.

"Bad Wolf." I respond making everyone look at me in surprise. "What? One of my foster parents were Welsh"

"But I've heard that before. Bad Wolf. I've heard that lots of times." Rose says sounding a bit worried.

"Everywhere we go. Two words following us. Bad Wolf." Doctor says this makes me a bit worried.

"How can they be following us?" Rose asks.

"Nah, just a coincidence. Like hearing a word on the radio then hearing it all day. Never mind. Things to do. Margaret, we're going to take you home." I shot my head at him my eyes turning yellow in surprise.

"Hold on, isn't that the easy option, like letting her go?" Dad asks equally shocked.

"Yeah she's a murderer, she doesn't deserve to get off scott free" I say anger rising in me.

"Don't worry when we take her back her people will punish her suitably"

"I don't believe it! We actually get to go to Raxa-. Wait a minute! Raxacor-" Rose struggles to say the name of the planet.

"Raxacoricofallapatorius." Doctor says.

"Raxacorico-" Rose tried again.

"-fallapatorius." Both me and the Doctor finished.

"Raxacoricofallapatorius. That's it! I did it!" She says jumping up and down hugging the Doctor.

"They have the death penalty." Cutting Rose's celebration off. "The family Slitheen was tried in its absence many years ago and found guilty with no chance of appeal. According to the statutes of government, the moment I return, I am to be executed. What do you make of that, Doctor? Take me home and you take me to my death." I glared at her my eyes turning red.

"Not my problem." Doctor shoots back I felt a hand on my shoulder I look up and see dad who leads me away back to the TARDIS with Margaret. I keep a close eye on Margaret my eyes were still red and I knew my dad was worried about this but I couldn't calm down with this women so close to me.

"This ship is impossible. It's superb. How do you get the outside around the inside?" She asks making Doctor scoff.

"Like I'd give you the secret, yeah." This does make me smirk slightly.

"I almost feel better about being defeated. I never stood a chance. This is the technology of the gods."

"Don't worship me - I'd make a very bad god. You wouldn't get a day off, for starters." I gasp at him.

"Okay, now your truly a madman!" I exclaim making him smile he then turns to dad who I was sat next to helping him with the extrapolator.

"Jack, how we doing, big fella?"

"This extrapolator's top of the range. Where did you get it?" Dad asks her.

"Oh, I don't know. Some airlock sale?"

"Must've been a great big heist. It's stacked with power."

"But we can use it for fuel?"

"It's not compatible, but it should knock off about twelve hours. We'll be ready to go by morning." I shake my head sighing.

"Basically we're stuck here overnight." I said.

"I'm in no hurry." Margaret said smirking.

"We've got a prisoner. The police box is really a police box." Rose said amazed.

"You're not just police, though. Since you're taking me to my death, that makes you my executioners. Each and every one of you." I felt my dad take my hand protectively.

"Well, you deserve it." Mickey argued.

"You're very quick to say so. You're very quick to soak your hands in my blood, which makes you better than me, how, exactly ? Long night ahead Let's see who can look me in the eye." She looks at every single on of us but none of us could keep eye contact. As the night went on Rose and Mickey left to go out leaving me, dad, Doctor and Margaret. I looked up from mine and dad's work to see Doctor looking at a scanner. Dad must of seen to as he asks.

"So, what's on?" Quickly Doctor turns off the scanner and goes back to his work.

"Nothing" From where Margaret was sitting she speaks up making me grit my teeth in annoyance.

"I gather it's not always like this, having to wait. I bet you're always the first to leave, Doctor. Never mind the consequences, off you go. You butchered my family and then ran for the stars, am I right? But not this time. At last you have consequences. How does it feel?" Doctor didn't even look at her but retorted.

"I didn't butcher them."

"Don't answer back. That's what she wants." Dad says to the Doctor making him look to dad arguing.

"I didn't. What about you? You had an emergency teleport. You didn't zap them to safety, did you?" I raise my eyebrow at this wondering why she didn't save her family.

"It only carries one. I had to fly without coordinates. I ended up on a skip in the Isle of Dogs." I smirk at this until I ended up laughing with the other two making her glare at us. "It wasn't funny." I am still smirking.

"It really is though" I say still chuckling I see her glaring at me until she regains her composure.

"Do I get a last request?" She asks.

"Depends what it is."

"I grew quite fond of my little human life. All those rituals. The brushing of the teeth, and the complicated way they cook things. There's a little restaurant just round the Bay. It became quite a favourite of mine." I raised my eyebrow and asked in shock.

"What? Your asking a final meal?" She shoots me a glare snapping.

"Don't I have rights?" My dad places a protective hand on my shoulder whilst glaring at her.

"Oh, like she's not going to try to escape."

"Except I can never escape the Doctor, so where's the danger? I wonder if you could do it? To sit with a creature you're about to kill and take supper. How strong is your stomach?"

"Strong enough."

"I wonder. I've seen you fight your enemies, now dine with them."

"You've got to be kidding? You've killed to many people for the Doctor to change his mind about you" I snap at her now I was fully annoyed by the woman/alien the Doctor nodded agreeing with me.

"Effie's right. You won't change my mind."

"Prove it." Margaret shots back.

"There are people out there. If you slip away just for one second, they'll be in danger."

"Except I've got these." Dad then holds up two bangles. "You both wear one. If she moves more than ten feet away, she gets zapped by ten thousand volts." I looked at him confused.

"Why on earth do you have them?" He seemed a bit embarrassed for some reason and he just mumbled.

"I'll tell you when your older"

"Margaret, would you like to come out to dinner? My treat." The Doctor says whilst taking a bangle Margaret stands up smirking.

"Dinner in bondage. Works for me." I watch the two leave through the door and turn back to dad.

"So.... looks like it's up to us to finish this?" I ask.

"Looks like it kiddo"  We sat down on the floor next to the extrapolator working on it for what felt like hours. During this time dad would tell me more stories about my mum and others about his adventures. Suddenly out of nowhere a explosion eruputed from the console making me jump back avoiding the sparks getting into my eyes. More and more sparks erupt from the extrapolator I hear the door open behind me and then the Doctor runs forward yelling.

"What the hell are you doing??"

"It just went crazy!" Dad yells back I look at the sparking mess asking.

"What is going on?"

"It's the rift. Time and space are ripping apart. The whole city's going to disappear!" Another explosion erupts now making me flinch even further back covering my eyes.

"It's the extrapolator. I've disconnected it but it's still feeding off the engine! It's using the TARDIS. I can't stop it!"

"Never mind Cardiff, it's going to rip open the planet." I hear the door open from behind me meaning Rose must of entered.

"What is it? What's happening?!" She asks frantically from my side I suddenly hear Margaret.

"Oh, just little me." Some how during the explosions Margaret must of snuck up on me as out of nowhere I saw out of the corner of my eye her remove her human arm and with her Slitheen arm she grabbed me tightly around my neck. I could see my dad about to leap at her but she squeeze's my neck tighter.

"One wrong move and she snaps like a promise." I could see the Doctor glaring at Margaret.

"I might've known."

"I've had you bleating all night, poor baby, now shut it. You, fly boy, put the extrapolator at my feet." I grab her hand and feel her slightly loosen.

"Dad, no don't do it" I manage to squeak out. But I was cut short when her grip tightens even more making me stop breathing for a second. Dad doesn't even wait for the Doctor to nod as he is already placing the board at her feet.

"Thank you. Just as I planned." Rose from the Doctor's side asks confused.

"I thought you needed to blow up the nuclear power station."

"Failing that, if I were to be arrested, then anyone capable of tracking me down would have considerable technology of their own. Therefore, they would be captivated by the extrapolator. Especially a magpie mind like yours, Doctor. So the extrapolator was programmed to go to plan B. To lock onto the nearest alien power source and open the rift. And what a power source it found. I'm back on schedule, thanks to you."

"The rift's going to convulse. You'll destroy the whole planet."

"And you with it!" Margaret stands onto the extrapolator holding me to the side. "While I ride this board over the crest of the inferno all the way to freedom. Stand back, boys and girl. Surf's up." I could see the TARDIS console starting to crack open reviling a bright light. I see the light from the corner of my eye and I started to hear singing. The song was calming and made me not worried almost numbing the pain from being chocked.

"Of course, opening the rift means you'll pull this ship apart." Doctor says but my eyes are still fixated on the light.

"So sue me."

"It's not just any old power source. It's the TARDIS. My TARDIS. The best ship in the universe."

"It'll make wonderful scrap." The singing in my head was still going making me go limp at how numb I was going.

"What's that light?" I hear Rose ask. As I wait for Doctor's response I was surprised to here a female voice enter my head.

"Don't worry my Gem your safe. You will always be safe when I am around" I'm still staring into the light when I feel myself falling to the ground before someone catches me. Soon the light leaves as I feel someone shaking me.

"Effie, sweetheart, are you okay?" I blink my eyes a few times gaining my attention back. I shuck my head.

"U-um yeah" I then noticed I was sat on the floor with my dad keeping me from falling over and the Doctor was hunched over a pile of clothing. "What happened?" Dad helped me over to the pile of clothing answering.

"Must've got burnt up. Carried out her own death sentence." The Doctor shakes his head.

"No, I don't think she's dead."

"Then where'd she go?" Rose asks I then see something in the pile and grab it pulling it out it looked like a large egg with dreadlocks. "She's an egg?" Rose asks in shock.

"Regressed to her childhood." Doctor responds.

"She's an egg?" Dad now asks just as shocked.

"She can start again. Live her life from scratch. If we take her home, give her to a different family, tell them to bring her up properly, she might be all right!"

"Or she might be worse." Dad argues.

"That's her choice."

"She's an egg." Rose says still in shock I nod my head.

"She's an egg." I confirm.

"Oh, my God. Mickey." Rose says before getting up and running out. As I stand up still holding the egg I look up to see Rose enter looking sad.

"We're all powered up. We can leave. Opening the rift filled us up with energy. We can go, if that's all right."

"Yeah, fine." I frown at this worried by her response.

"How's Mickey?" Doctor asks.

"He's okay. He's gone."

"Do you want to go and find him? I'm sure the Doctor is alright for us to wait." I ask.

"No need. He deserves better." My eyes turn blue at this but I look down at the egg in my hands.

"Off we go, then. Always moving on" Dad nods and steps up to the console.

"Next stop, Raxacoricofallapatorius. Now you don't often get to say that." I smile at this the blue slightly leaving my eyes.

"We'll just stop by and pop her in the hatchery. Margaret the Slitheen can live her life again. A second chance."

"That'd be nice." I smile at the egg and couldn't help but hope she might be a bit like me started off with some bad families, like my foster families, but will end up with the best one she could get.
