27| The Truth?
"Did you know my dad?" Yoongi asked pointedly, his voice tight with unidentifiable emotion.
Minhyuk blinked unevenly before opening and then closing his mouth. "I'm old, you'll have to be more specific than 'dad'."
"Min Jooheon."
Jin and Namjoon were holding hands, staring at the pair awkwardly and trying to read Hoseok's expression for a hint into what was going on. Hoseok had no hints to give.
Minhyuk was blinking again, something like sadness deep in his eyes. "I knew a Lee Jooheon once, a long time ago before his parents were killed in an accident. He went to live with relatives and I believe their last name was Min."
Yoongi frowned. His dad didn't talk about his childhood, but he'd always thought he didn't have grandparents. He'd never asked about HyeJin's parents.
"Do you have a picture of him, maybe i'd recognize him?" If Yoongi wasn't mistaken, Minhyuk sounded almost hopeful.
Yoongi swallowed. He'd never felt odd about not having a picture of his dad, albeit no one had ever asked about one. "I don't."
"Maybe ask your dad sometime about Minhyuk, but I can't be sure if I knew him." He smiled sadly.
And Yoongi felt like maybe, maybe Minhyuk was lying.

The ride home was quiet, Yoongi's hand was held tightly in Hoseok's. The tension was there for multiple, obvious reasons. Yoongi didn't believe Minhyuk told him the whole truth and after they returned to Hoseok's he would be going home. And neither of the boys were quite ready to say goodbye yet.
Hoseok lead the way into the house. Yoongi was looking at his phone, an almost sick look on his face.
"Yoongi I'm not sure why your feeling upset, but i'm here okay?"
Yoongi pocketed his phone and breathed deeply. "I'm sorry, it's just something my dad said. I'm okay."
Reluctantly, the boys gathered up all of Yoongi's things and set them by the door.
Hoseok's parents sent them off with hugs and a cooler of food for an early dinner. They left in enough time to stop at the city limits where they sat on the hood of the car, knees touching as they shared the sandwiches between them.
"Are you sure everything is alright Yoongi?" Hobi mumbled, staring at their intertwined hands.
Yoongi nodded, "I just have a lot to think about."
"Don't stress yourself out too much, i'm always here to listen whenever you're ready."
Yoongi rested his head on Hoseok's shoulder. "I don't want to worry you, I'm just not ready to talk about it yet."
Hoseok nodded, pressing his lips to Yoongi's hair. Yoongi stood and put his hands on Hoseok's shoulders, leaning in to press their foreheads together.
"We'll always have things to think about, it doesn't mean we have to let it make us miserable."
Hoseok smiled sheepishly, "You're right."
"Always am," the older winked.
It was dusk when Hoseok rolled to a stop outside Hyejin and Moonbyul's residence and he let Yoongi out of the car, shouldering his bag to carry it inside for him.
"I wish this was more convenient for you." Yoongi sighed, tugging at Hoseok's shirt.
"Next time i'll just have to stay here, we can't get into too much trouble though. I'm kinda scared of your moms." He laughed.
"As you should be," HyeJin had stuck her head out the door and was smiling teasingly at the pair. "Your hair looks amazing, Byulie come look at their hair!"
The boys laughed and let the couple play with their newly colored strands for a bit before Hoseok excused himself to get home. Yoongi walked him to his car, their pinkies looped together loosely.
"Text me when you're home safe, kay?"
"Promise,"
They pressed their lips together in a farewell kiss, holding each other at the waist to feel grounded and close.
"I should go before it gets too late." Hoseok breathed against Yoongi's lips.
Yoongi just hummed and pressed himself closer.
