INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY – LATER

Halley, Nelson, Travis, and Sage stand outside the art classroom. Halley looks at the empty donation jar.

HALLEY

I don't get it. Not one person stopped by. 

NELSON

There's still plenty of time left.

The auditorium doors open and the crowd flows toward the refreshment bar.

NELSON (CONT'D)

That was a really short play.

Halley glances at her watch.

HALLEY

It must be intermission. This is our chance.

NELSON

Would anyone want to check out some cool art? It's by very talented kids.

None of the guests look their way.

HALLEY

We'll just be over here when you're ready. Please?

TRAVIS

Look at them. Wasting their money on food when they should be wasting their money on us.

Halley sees Dru leaning against the wall eating a snack.

HALLEY

Dru! Hey!

Dru walks over.

DRU

What are you guys up to?

HALLEY

We've set up an art exhibit to raise money for the school's art programs. Can you help us?

DRU

I don't know. I have to get back to the show.

HALLEY

Do you think you could build something before the end of intermission? We would really appreciate it.

DRU

I guess I could whip something up. But in order to do a pretty decent job, it's going to take a lot of mental power. Every single part matters to create a better whole. There's a lot that goes into it—

HALLEY

You can tell us all about it during the process.

She pulls him toward their exhibit.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. HALLWAY – MOMENTS LATER

Halley and Nelson stand by as Dru finishes up his display.

HALLEY

I hope this works.

Dru plugs it in. "Art Show" shines above the doorway among a spectacular display of lights.

NELSON

I'd say it's working.

The exhibit draws guests over to their show and they start handing Nelson and Halley money.
