INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY – NEXT DAY

Halley enters, sulking. All around her, uniforms are altered in some artistic way.

HALLEY

What...

She joins Sage and Travis who are admiring each other's customized outfits. Travis' blazer has cartoons drawn all over it. Sage's sleeves are cut off, yet still attached to her body and her skirt is trimmed with toilet paper.

HALLEY (CONT'D)

What's going on?

SAGE

You were right. We deserve our freedom of expression. So we've expressed.

HALLEY

But what about Principal Peters? He's going to have a tamper tantrum.

Travis looks over Halley's shoulder.

TRAVIS

Actually, he looks pretty calm to me.

Principal Peters approaches them escorted by assistant principal, Mr. Whimpler.

PRINCIPAL PETERS

Is this act of rebellion your idea, Miss Shields?

TRAVIS

This is just us students standing up for our rights.

SAGE

Yeah!

Principal Peter's gives him a stern look.

TRAVIS

As long as it's okay with you, sir.

PRINCIPAL PETERS

Very well. There's only one way to settle this.

Halley looks at the worried faces of her friends.

PRINCIPAL PETERS (CONT'D)

From this day forward, you will no longer be required to wear uniforms.

HALLEY

Wait! If anyone should be punished, it should be me. Just please don't suspend me. I've never even been to detention. I'll mop floors—Hold on. Really?

Principal Peters scribbles something down.

PRINCIPAL PETERS

A new and more liberating dress code will be in effect tomorrow morning.

He takes in Sage's outfit.

PRINCIPAL PETERS (CONT'D)

With restrictions, of course. I will send out the memo this afternoon.

MR. WHIMPLER

Why are you being so lenient? They deliberately disobeyed your authority.

PRINCIPAL PETERS

We have much more important matters to deal with.

They exit. Sage holds up her palms.

SAGE

Give it to me.

The bell rings. She exits, leaving them hanging.

SAGE (CONT'D)

Bye.

Sage and Travis exit. Halley hangs back watching Principal Peters walk away. Something's up.
