Chapter 3
I couldn't help but smiling the whole way home. I held something like magic in my hands.
I ran past so many things, I didn't even stop to look at a single one. I kept going until I reached home. And only then did I realize how much my feet hurt.
I burst into the the house.
"Easy with the door! It could snap right off it's hinges!" My father snapped.
"I'm sorry Father, but look! Look at this!"
I thrust my hand out to him. He only stared at it for a few seconds before resuming his work.
"What about it?"
"What do you mean? It's beautiful! And it's also..... Colorful."
My mother turned to me. "Colors, I thought we had this conversation! Enough with the whole stupid colors ordeal! People are going to think we're crazy!"
I was a little taken back, but I was too excited to be mad.
"I don't care! Every one here already thinks that of me. And they can continue thinking that of me."
She rolled her eyes and set a few dishes on the table.
"Mother will you please just listen to me?"
"No Colors! This whole thing is stupid and pointless! Just leave it alone!"
"I've tried. I just can't."
"Then just don't talk to us about it."
"But mother, who else would I...."
She interrupted. "I don't know! Just not us!"
I groaned in frustration. "Father, will you please listen?"
"Colors! You heads your mother! Colors are stupid and meaningless. We don't need them in our world! That's why.."
He stopped.
"That's why what?" I asked.
"Nothing", he grumbled.
"No father. What is it? What's happening?"
"I said nothing!"
I was started to get angry. "Father! Please just tell me!"
He quickly turned around and grabbed my precious treasure. Before I could react, he thrust it into the fire pit, not leaving behind a trace.
A tear rolled down my cheek. "How could you?" I yelled.
Before he could respond, I was out the door, running towards the woods. They just didn't understand. How could they not care?
I wiped away my tears. I was done. I was done living I'm that dark, cold, dull world. I didn't know where I was going, nor did I care.
I just ran. Before long, the sun started to go down. But i kept going. I was deep in thought when I felt my body slam into something and lose balance.
Before I could evaluate my situation, I heard a groaning noise. Not of an animal, but of a human.
"Who's there?"
I asked.
"Watch where you're going", was all i got In response.
The voice was of a boy. A teenage boy.
