twenty-eight
The day of exams was upon them at last. After Savannah woke up, alone on the couch since the boys had left to help Remus with his furry little problem, she had went up to her dorm and told Lily why she had ran away. Lily hugged her and apologized for not telling her, though she said that it wasn't her secret to tell.
Savannah understood perfectly and told Lily so, causing the girl to smile and hug her tightly. Though she hated doing it, Savannah lied and told Marlene and Alice that she had ran away because she realized she forgot her Potions review and book, and that she needed to get it quickly before class. She didn't mention what had happened on the Astronomy tower to any of the girls, nor did she tell the boys. She did explain to Sirius about why she ran off and his reaction was close to James's. Sirius didn't pry into what happened, and neither did James or Dalton. They had their suspicions, but they didn't want to pressure her and make her think any more about what had happened.
The girls had spent a ton of time in the library to prepare for exams. Remus had as well, but the others.... not so much. Lily and Savannah were nervous, no matter how much Marlene and Alice tried to assure them that they would be fine. The boys weren't nervous, with the exception of Remus. Granted, he wasn't as nervous as Lily and Savannah.
At breakfast the girls were quiet, going over information in their heads as they picked at their meal.
Dalton rolled his eyes as thoughts of the dark-haired, blue-eyed girl he hadn't paid attention to before the previous day began to invade his mind again.
"Sava, you ready for exams?" Dalton asked, trying to get the girl out of his mind.
She mumbled something incoherently as she skimmed the pages of the book she had gotten out of her bag, causing Sirius to grin. Merlin, she's adorable, he thought.

Lily and Savannah left breakfast early to take their time, huddled together to review as they went to Charms. They arrived with enough time to do some final reviews before everyone shuffled in.
Savannah was one of the first ones done, so she sat and went over all her answers, triple-checking them before she allowed her mind to wander and review for her next exam, which was Potions.
Lily furiously wrote her answers, putting in as much information as she could. James finished quickly and spent the rest of his time watching Lily, a loving expression on his face. Dalton and Sirius had fallen asleep not long after they finished. Remus took his time, making sure he had every answer right before he put it down. Peter was looking at his exam, trying furiously to remember when they had learned this. Peter wasn't unintelligent, but he had been otherwise occupied this year so he hadn't focused on his studies.
Marlene and Alice thought they did fairly well, since they actually remembered most of the material on the exam.
Finally, time was called and they were released to go to their next exam. Lily and Savannah discussed that exam quickly (both knew they did extremely well on it, so they didn't spend much time discussing it before moving on to review for Potions.)
The day went by like that. At supper Lily and Savannah were much more relaxed, as they were confident that they did well and they no longer had to worry about exams.
Dalton tried his best not to look over to the Ravenclaw table, so he turned to James. "You're sure it's okay me and Savannah come to stay this summer?" He asked.
James nodded. "Definitely, Paws. You know how much my mum loves you. Plus she adores Sava, especially with how easy it is to make Padfoot blush when she's around," he told him, smiling at Savannah.
This was the first Savannah heard of it, so she breathed a sigh of relief now that she no longer had to worry about where they were going to stay.
"Great. Thanks, Prongs. It means a lot to us," Dalton said warmly, putting a hand on James's shoulder.
James flashed a brilliant smile. "No problem, Paws."
James looked to Lily. "Lilypad, you have to come visit this summer. All of you do," he said.
Everyone in the group nodded, looking at each other and smiling. "We can't go that long without seeing you all!" Alice added.
They spent the rest of the meal talking, joking, and laughing as they enjoyed that end-of-the-year vibe in the Great Hall, no one worrying about the war that was looming.
Savannah felt at home, not just because of Hogwarts but because of the people she was with. She could no longer imagine her life without them and she felt for the first time that she was truly healing. She and Sirius kept exchanging glances and she couldn't help the way her heart fluttered when he would look at her, his lips just slightly parted.
Dalton smirked each time he felt Rose's gaze on him, since he knew he had the same effect on her as she did on him. It made him feel a little better, knowing he wasn't alone in his thoughts.
Lily leaned into James, enjoying the way his arms felt around her and realizing she no longer questioned her feelings for him, no matter how different they were from the beginning of the year.
Remus and Peter were the quietest ones in the group, listening and laughing at the jokes that were passed around. Savannah talked with Marlene and Alice, getting all the details of Marlene's relationship with Regulus.
Remus would occasionally joke with the boys, throwing grapes into Sirius's mouth and keeping count on how many Sirius could catch without missing one.
Savannah couldn't help the thought that crossed her mind before she walked out of the Great Hall for the last time as a sixth year. Hogwarts is definitely my home. They walked and joked back to the common room before gathering around the fireplace to play Exploding Snap before everyone went their separate ways to bed.
