"Any tips for me, Prongs?" Sirius Black asked James Potter as they started getting the Gryffindor common room ready for their Halloween party that night.
"Tips for what, Padfoot?" James asked as he was making the couches, chairs, and tables disappear.
"To get Savannah to at least dance with me tonight," Sirius replied, setting up a table on each side of the fireplace.
James looked around wildly to make sure Dalton wasn't around. "Woah, mate, do you want Dalton to hear you and kill you?"
Sirius remained silent, wanting James to give him the advice he asked for.
James sighed as he was setting up a muggle gramophone in the corner of the room. "Just... ask her politely. Hang around her as much as she'll let you tonight," he paused, "It worked with Lily."
Sirius nodded, thinking. Merlin, how great would it be if I actually got her to dance with me?
James stood from where he was kneeling beside the gramophone. "I'm gonna run to the kitchens to grab the snacks."
Sirius nodded, not looking away from the Halloween banners he was hanging up above the fireplace.
James shot him one last look before leaving. He really was a lovesick puppy- no pun intended.
——
James was nearly to the kitchens when he seen Savannah walking back to the Gryffindor common room.
"Hey, Savannah!" James called out, wanting her attention as an idea popped into his head.
Savannah walked over to James. She looked at him, imploring him to tell her what he called her over for. She looked around, checking if they were alone. The corridor was deserted.
"Today's Halloween, yeah?" James started.
Savannah raised a brow before replying, "Yeah...."
James smiled, "And people wear costumes on Halloween, right?"
"Where is this going, James?" Savannah asked, already annoyed and seriously wondering if he was dim.
James shifted slightly, responding, "Just give Sirius a chance tonight, okay? Pretend you're not you and that Sirius isn't Sirius. Just... use this night to get to know him. You're friends with Remus and me and Peter-well sort of with Peter- so why not try to be friends with him?"
Savannah was momentarily stunned, frozen in her spot. Where the hell did that come from? She was still rooted to her spot when James shot her one last smile before turning and walking away.
Wait, I'm friends with James Potter? Since when?
——
"The party is supposed to start at seven, right?" Lily asked Alice and Savannah, who were laying on their beds. Everyone had just gotten back from the Halloween feast in the Great Hall.
"Yeah," Alice replied, not looking up from the magazine she was flipping through.
"So should we start getting ready?" Lily continued, getting up and moving to her trunk, where her costume was hid.
"Probably. We want to make sure we look good, right?" Alice responded, finally setting her magazine down.
"Yeah," Savannah finally said, sitting up.
The girls spent the next hour getting ready, helping each other with their hair or makeup.
Savannah helped Lily with her makeup, putting green eyeshadow on her eyelids and green lipstick that they were able to find.
Alice helped Lily with her hair, curling it with magic.
Lily's costume was a short green dress with poison ivy leaves running all over it with green heels. It showed off more skin than Lily would normally show off, but Savannah and Alice convinced her to wear it since it would just be for one night. She looked quite beautiful.
Savannah helped Alice with her makeup, putting on foundation and red lipstick.
Lily helped Alice with her hair, using a spell to curl the ends slightly and give it volume.
Alice's costume was a replica of Snow White's dress with brown flats. It was quite flattering on her, showing off her curves with a cinched waist. She looked nearly exactly like Snow White.
Savannah was absolute rubbish at doing hair, so that's why she didn't do either of the other girls' hair.
"Where's Marlene?" Lily suddenly asked as she slipped on her heels.
"Dunno," Alice and Savannah replied in unison.
"She's been disappearing a lot recently, hasn't she?" Lily replied, standing up shakily to practice walking before the party.
"Yeah. Is she off with her mystery guy?" Alice replied as she slipped on her own shoes.
"Maybe," Lily responded as she made her way over to Savannah to do her makeup.
Lily put some eyeliner and mascara on Savannah, along with red lipstick. The eyeliner, something Savannah normally wouldn't put on, looked quite striking, bringing out her green eyes even more.
Alice ambled over, feeling quite nice in her dress, to do Savannah's hair. She pulled her hair up into pigtails, bringing a few strands out to frame her face.
Savannah smiled at her finished appearance, taking in her red and black dress and tall, strappy black heels. The dress was even shorter than Lily's and even lower cut. Savannah didn't have much in her chest, so it's not like it was showing off anything. A wardrobe malfunction wasn't a huge concern for her.
Lily had altered her dress a bit to make it more appropriate, but Savannah figured that the point of Halloween was to be someone you're not so she left her dress the way it was when she got it. What's one night looking sexy?
"You make the perfect Harley Quinn," Lily gushed as she looked Savannah up and down.
Savannah actually smiled. "Thanks, Lils. You make the perfect Poison Ivy!"
Lily smiled before stepping closer and bringing her wand out, saying, "Oh! One last thing!"
She murmured a spell that changed Savannah's eyes from their normal green to blue.
Savannah smiled and turned to the mirror, taking one last look at her appearance. Once she was satisfied, she turned away from the mirror.
"Ready?" Lily asked the other two, looking at them.
Alice and Savannah exchanged glances before nodding. Alice shot Savannah a smile before leading the way down the stairs.
Lily followed Alice, blushing as soon as she realized that James's mouth was open as he gaped at her.
James, who was dressed up as a deer- imagine that- felt his mouth practically water at the sight of Lily. Bloody hell, that woman is my date! To put it simply, he couldn't believe that Lily Evans had finally agreed to a date with him.
Sirius, who was talking to a girl named Mae Clarke, immediately fell silent when he glanced up at the staircase leading up to the girls' dormitories. His throat went dry at the shortness of her dress, the low cut-ness of it, the heels. Needless to say, he found Savannah quite sexy that night- more so than he normally did.
Savannah smirked when she felt everyone's gaze on her, burying her anxiety and insecurities.
The music, which had been deafening to Sirius a moment earlier, suddenly seemed to quit. The voice of Mae Clarke faded away, as did the taste of the firewhiskey as he downed it.
Savannah spotted Sirius across the room. Give Sirius a chance, she heard James's voice echo in her head.
Against her better judgement, she grabbed a couple glasses of firewhiskey from a tray that was floating around. She downed the first one in two gulps, setting it back down on the tray.
She held onto the other as she pushed her way through the crowd in the direction of Sirius.
"I'm a wanted man."
Savannah's eyes found Sirius's. Sirius left Mae Clarke, pushing through the throngs of people to meet Savannah in the middle. He was dressed as a black dog (again, imagine that.)
Savannah took another drink.
"Public enemy number one."
Finally, both came to a stop mere inches in front of one another. Savannah ignored the way her breath hitched when she seen Sirius's eyes rake her up and down.
"Understand? So lock up your daughter."
Sirius smirked as he held his glass of fire whiskey up. "Cheers?"
Savannah smiled softly and raised her glass to his, making them clink.
"Lock up your wife."
"You... you look good," Sirius told her over the sound of T.N.T by AC/DC playing.
She mentally cursed when she felt a blush working its way up her neck. "Thanks," she replied before taking another swig of firewhiskey, enjoying the burn she felt as it rolled down her throat.
"Lock your back door."
"Merlin, I love this song!" She shouted over the crowd. She had to break the awkwardness, and she was using the night to, like James said, be someone else. Why not be confident?
Sirius raised a brow, somehow surprised that she knew this song. "You do?"
She nodded, a grin forming. "Yeah! I love muggle music!"
Sirius loved her grin; he wished he could see it more. "Same! This band's pretty awesome!"
Savannah's grin didn't fade. She loved muggle rock music, but she hardly met people in the wizarding world that did too. She took another drink of her firewhiskey, finishing it before replying, "Yeah, it is! Aerosmith is good too!"
"Yeah, I agree! How about The Beatles?" Sirius asked, wanting to keep the conversation going.
"I love their song Can't Buy Me Love!"
"Yeah, it's good! How about Queen?"
"They're good," Savannah replied, still keeping eye contact with Sirius. She hadn't met anyone who knew so many bands; normally they just knew one or two.
"What's your favorite song of theirs?" Sirius asked her, still shouting since the party was in full swing.
"Probably Bohemian Rhapsody or Somebody to Love."
"Same! I like Bohemian Rhapsody."
"How about Lynyrd Skynyrd?" Savannah asked, happy that Sirius wasn't being a complete arse. Maybe James was right, she thought.
"Not my favorite, but Sweet Home Alabama is good," Sirius replied as he got them each another firewhiskey from a nearby floating tray.
Savannah nodded in agreement, taking the firewhiskey Sirius offered her. "Any other AC/DC songs you like?"
Sirius laughed. "Hell yeah! I love AC/DC! They're probably one of my favorites!"
"Really?" Savannah's eyes lit up. "Same!"
A slow song came on, with many couples, James and Lily, as well as Alice and Frank, making their way onto the dance floor.
"May I have this dance?" Sirius asked Savannah, his stormy grey eyes looking into hers. Any trace of mischief had vanished.
Savannah felt as if she couldn't speak for a moment, as it felt like she had butterflies in her stomach. "Sure," she finally replied, pulling out all the confidence she could muster.
Sirius smiled and put his hands on her waist, since they were already on the dance floor. He had already put their empty glasses on yet another floating tray, so Savannah put her arms around his neck.
They swayed to the music, Savannah not wanting to do much more due to the fear of stepping on Sirius's foot in her heels. I should've ditched these a long time ago, she thought as she hesitantly put her head on his chest, suddenly quite tired.
Sirius prayed that she couldn't feel how his breath hitched or how his heart was beating a million miles a minute. This is how it always be, her in my arms, he thought as his arms tightened around her slightly.
So Sirius Black and Savannah Stone became friends that night. Savannah found that there was more to Sirius than the annoying arse she thought she knew.
She even let a piece of her protective walls down that night, forgetting everything her parents told her.
The Halloween of October 1976 was quite interesting. James, in later years, would brag about how it was all his doing, how Savannah and Sirius became friends.
——
Hey!
Sooo Savannah and Sirius are finally friends!!
Anyone have any ideas for what their ship name could be? Savirius? Sirvannah? Idk, comment any ideas!
This is one of my longer chapters since I figured that this whole chapter shouldn't be broken up.
So James was playing matchmaker, huh? What do you think about that?
If any of you have any requests for any scenes, don't be afraid to comment or contact me!!
